Thinking of joining PCCOE (for MCA)? Here's a list of Pros & Cons by me, a current student for you to consider.

Pros:
- Low batch size (~65) which leads to lower competition at dept level placements (there are dept level placements of MCA dept and placements of whole college by central placement cell).
- Good enough campus and good hostels (for info about girls hostel and mess facilities, you'll have to contact some of my female classmates).
- Sports facilities (football, tennis court, cricket ground, basketball court, volleyball, kabaddi, etc).
- Gym at hostel.
- Fun activities happening in various depts at campus including MCA dept (Insperia) (although not as big as other depts, it's still fun to participate and help in execution of the event).
- Reasonable fees (unless you are going for a management seat).
- Nice celebration of collegiate events and cultural events.
- Lots of canteens/messes, stationary shops, cafés and PGs/Flats nearby and in college.
- Good opportunities to connect with knowledgeable seniors, fellow students, faculties and working professionals.
- Train station and city-bus stop at walking distance near college.
- Good placement opportunities depending upon market condition.
- Good library and reading hall for studies (boys are allowed in reading halls until 11:59pm, although, girls are only allowed till 8pm).
- As the college is autonomous, examinations are quite convenient (internals are often activity based which make them interesting and easy & finals are conducted with at least and often only 1 day gap between two papers). If you do get a backlog in a particular subject, you get opportunity to clear it quite soon as re-exam is conducted just a week after the actual exams (but that particular subject is marked with an asterisk in your marksheet unless you were absent for the exam due to a legitimate cause). If you fail an exam even in re-exam, you will have to create it in the next year (odd sem subject in odd sem and same for even sem).
- If you get a job/internship before 4th sem, you might get some exemption in attendance.
- Better than some other colleges in Pune.

Cons:
- Some of the faculty is troublesome and not as knowledgeable as one might think.
- Nowadays, students are finding a lot of problems with the food at college's mess/canteens and even water coolers (sometimes insects are found).
- Computer labs of MCA dept are as good as they should be and some computers work really slowly.
- Some of the things that seem good at first (when you're there for admission or when a grading agency is visiting) are not nearly as good.
- Some of the teachers are partial in how they act and prefer students who are their "pets".
- Some of the syllabi structure doesn't make sense (check out on college website).
- Mind boggling number of useless unavoidable crap they call assignments (in our dept's example, 150 programs for Java and Python each which you have to write the full source code of in files btw and more or less for SQL [Sem-1]).
- Strict 75% attendance criteria (85% for scholarships) enforcement which makes no sense in a lot of situations.
- If you secure or have secured a placement anyhow (whether in-campus or off-campus) you cannot appear for in-campus placements (again).
- The college just puts on a show of how good it is during admission period or when a grading agency like NAAC or NBA visits.
- Mind numbingly idiotic teaching faculty. Admin staff is okay, not too good not too bad.
- Bad quality of uniform fabric (for which they charge around 4.5k separately btw).
- Your days will be hectic (9 to 5 in many cases with a short break [10 mins] and lunch break [60 mins] in between).
- The facilities around the college area are a bit expensive due to it being a prime location.
- MCA dept isn't given as much importance as some other depts in the college.
- Do not believe the placement statistics because they are highly skewed.
- You get less time for skill development as you are often busy in useless academic stuff.

P.S: IMO, it's pure condensed and concentrated hell and everything wrong with our education system and that's why, I wouldn't suggest my worst enemy to take admission here. Comparing my friend's and my experience, it would be rather better to take admission in a random college that doesn't care about attendance and useless academics, join a skill development class/bootcamp in a city with IT Hub (like Pune) or do it online (be careful in choosing your classes too), religiously develop your skills with all the time you have, strengthen your portfolio by making unique projects that solve real-world problems or improve on existing projects and start applying for internships/entry-level jobs, attend events/hackathons and connect with people/fellow-students from the industry. This will be a lot more beneficial than joining PCCOE and wasting your time and money and it's something I feel I should've done too. To hell with PCCOE!

Do any company specifically asks for students who have never had a backlog?

Is there any company that requires the student to not have had any backlog ever?

Fuck this college

This college is nothing but a farce and full of bullshit! The lack of hygiene in the food and even the damn water is astonishing! They only dress up nice when evaluation committees like NBA visits, else they continue with the bullshit they call education. Faltu ke kaam karwalo students se, asli skill development gaya bhaad me! Fuck this shit!

Help Regarding 12th marks criteria for placements

I gave my MHTCET exam and am expecting to join this college. I wanted to ask if there is any specific boards related criteria for placements here??

I have got 97.8% in my SSC boards and 68.5% in my HSC boards overall (60.33% PCM aggregate). Will my 12th marks create any problem for me during internships and placements or in any negative way during my BTech.
