I bought this large peperomia hope, I have it still in its plastic nursery pot sitting inside a large ceramic pot. It has these long shoots with no leaves growing? And it looks like it’s trying to grow leaves but they die and shrivel up and turn black so so quickly. What do I do? Should I cut back the stems to remove the black bits?
The plant shop said to be careful not to overwater and only water once every few weeks, I lost track of time and forgot to water her! I tried to water last night and it seems like it didnt soak it up at all and the water just ran out the other end immediately. What can I do? Cut off some and try to propagate? Repot in water? Any advice is much appreciated!
Been propping a couple of watermelon stems in testubes of water (seems like forever 😅) Last weekend I was topping props up and noticed some green, on closer inspection I noticed a teeny green leaf on stem and the start of another. There was almost no water in the tube, so I topped it to where I usually would. I did wonder at the time if I was doing the right thing and pondered the idea of asking reddit plant people, but life got busy … this morning I was checking props and I noticed the original leaf is still there and bigger. There is another stem with tiny bit black in the end and I noticed its tiny leaf is at bottom of tube. And there is a 3rd stem now and one coming out bottom of stem somewhere too.
So my question is What happens now? I feel me topping water was the cause of the teeny leaf to rot and fall off the stem, so is it time to plant it, and if so then how without smothering baby stems? Or do I keep topping up water but just leave the water below the leaf line?(that’s usually what I would do with other props I have?
The Buenos Aires from Gabriella Plants is my absolute favorite!
First time caring for a Watermelon Pep & it’s got new growth!!
It is only on the underside, and only on "middle aged" leafs. The oldest leafs and the newest leafs are fine, and not all spotted leafs are as bad as the one on the Picture. I think we had thrips on some plants in the Office last year, is this what thrips damage looks like on peperomia?
Hey yall! Was doing some maintenance today and noticed this white spikey lookin stuff ?? It’s starting to droop as well. She’s being isolated for right now to keep everyone safe. Let me know !
Any idea what this is? It doesn't wipe off. And the newest leaf are deformed. I took it out and sprayed it with my spray (Castile soap, alcohol, water and peroxide).
I originally ordered a burbella, but knew it was wrong when I opened the package. When I last posted, the consensus was that this starter plant was a frost.
I’ve since repotted it from a 2” pot to a 3”, and it’s growing really quickly. With the size of these new leaves, I gave it a second look because I’ve had frosts in the past that never got this big, and they’re a much darker grey-silver than a frost. There are also pink petioles coming in, which my frosts never had.
Turns out she’s a peperomia moonlight!!
This one came in an assortment of terrarium plants, but I decided to plant it in a pot instead of a terrarium.
I have a handful of these ripple caperata peperomias, some I repotted 2-3 weeks ago, and a couple I repotted this week. Their nursery soil was drying out rather quickly and I figured they needed a soil upgrade. I used SOLs Houseplant Chunky Soil, and tbh they're either still adjusting, or I messed up. Any advice on if I should repot again with less chunky soil, or if they just need more watering now?
Thanks!
Pictures are today/when first purchased
Ignore the 5th plant, idk what it is-- clearly also not doing a good job raising that one either
My first propagation attempt has produced these two little Peperomia Rosso plants from half leaf cuttings in soil.
When should I put them into bigger pots? Because it’s looking quite crowded in there.
What size pot do I go up to next?
Would putting them both into the same pot be better? Or separate them all completely?
Thanks
Went to Lowes to get painters brush and i saw this. I never seen this one before. It says teardrop but it doesnt look the same and i cant find it online..
My first peperomia so any tips would be appreciated! I heard they like to dry out a little bit. Are they okay outdoors? I get morning sun
Got her from Lowes in Vancouver, WA
she’s literally grown like a weed i love her so much (swipe for before pic taken in march this year)
This is my second string of turtles plant -- the first one died because in hindsight, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing in terms of soil composition, water and lighting needs, etc. Hopefully I can redeem myself with this new one I got from FB marketplace!
I’ve had this plant for a year now and she was doing pretty well until a few months ago. I trimmed some dead leaves to try to help but now she’s drooping like crazy. There’s new leaves sprouting from the top but nothing is growing from the bottom. I think I need to propagate but I want that to be my last resort. Any ideas to help save her?
