Elites

Zircons are the second gem type that is more powerful after the Diamonds, but Pure Garnets are as well.

The difference is that Pure Garnets are the second most powerful gems in the military of Homeworld, within the army of conquering Gems, while Zircons are second-in-command in the creation of the laws of the Homeworld Empire. They are physically fragile in body and do not fight, but they create the laws. They act as lawyers, but they are actually legislators.

This is why Pure Garnets are the only other gem type that governs colonies or entire planets without needing to be Diamonds, with Pure Garnets ruling planets that have palaces specifically for them, while the Diamonds, being supreme leaders, govern the rest of the planets and colonies. Meanwhile, the Zircons, having experience designing laws, dictating laws, and serving as legislators rather than merely lawyers, became the gems who ran to be democratically elected when the Diamonds abandoned the Empire, because they were second-in-command while the Diamonds were still in power, but in matters of law.

Aristocrats

Within the social class of aristocratic Gems, we find the gemstones considered the rarest within the hierarchy of the Diamonds.

At this level, we find all Beryls, such as Captain Emerald, the leader of the Dropship fleets that colonize planets under the command of the General Garnets; Morganite, powerful enough to have Rubies and Pearls under her command; as well as Spinel, who is the only Spinel in all of Homeworld.

Belonging to the nobility are the Sapphires, blue corundums elevated to aristocracy thanks to their future vision, as well as other gems whose sole purpose is to be the most intelligent gems and to think and think.

Explorer/Colonizer Gems

This type of gem is possibly the social class that has the greatest variation in the minerals that make up the different gems dedicated to exploring, invading, and colonizing planets within the Diamond system.

These are divided among the Nephrites, necessary to pilot each of the Dropships belonging to the fleets led by Captain Emerald; the Peridots, whose work is not limited to being technicians who repair the ships in case of damage, but also Kindergarten administrators responsible for analyzing the type of terrain and determining which gem will emerge before programming the injector AI with the role of each gem based on the type of gemstone produced by the Kindergarten. Also at this hierarchical level, we find the Citrines, Elite Guards who are responsible for guarding the Solar Incinerator ships aboard which these expeditions travel. Therefore, they also belong to this same social class of colonizing gems. At this same hierarchical level as the Nephrites are the Jades, dancers in the celebrations of conquest achievements carried out by the Great Diamond Authority. We have also decided to classify Holly Blue Agate, a Quartz captain who shares the rank just below Aquamarine with the Topazes. This is known because Aquamarine is responsible for collecting the list of humans for the Human Zoo directly requested by the Diamonds, as we see with the list of names Steven gave to Peridot, while Holly Blue Agate only has the authority to be in charge of the zoo and supervise the routine of the Zoomans within the artificial ecosystem.

Quartz Soldiers

And now that we enter the battlefield itself, the great variety among soldier gems is simply multiple types of Quartz with variations and impurities that affect their gemstone color and their light, but they all share the same Quartz mineral, and they are the strongest gems in terms of light muscles.

Low-Class Medium Gemstones

Below the soldiers and colonizing gems are treated the simple gems that only served in the old Empire to gather resources so that the leader or expansionist gems would not have to do it themselves, and to build exclusively for the aristocracy. They are among the most looked down upon gems, but at least they retain a minimal level of dignity.

Pearls/Pebbles

There is not much to say here; they represent absolute servitude and slavery disguised as loyalty or butlership.
