Back in 2024, I decided I wanted a Fossil master set, having never completed it as a kid. To make it harder (and more expensive) on myself, I decided to only get 1st editions. About 30 months (and several price spikes) later, today I have finally completed it after cracking a Dragonite slab and completing the 63 card collection.

I typically picked everything up from eBay or Cardmarket and was in no rush, biding my time to pick up great deals on HP cards that I felt were good binder copies. I kept it all in a spreadsheet to see how much it would total:

Fun facts:

• Excluding shipping, the set has cost me £1022, with £756 of that on the holo cards.
• Dragonite (£150) and Gengar (£175) were the most expensive cards, with Ekans being the cheapest (20p).
• Incorrectly listed eBay items were a win, with some listings failing to acknowledge the card being 1st edition and me being able to snap them up quickly. (Hypno (£16) and Aerodactyl non-prerelease (£20) were my best wins from this.)
• A special shout out to the vendor at a cardshow in 2024 who sold me a mint holo Ditto for £25 because "no one wants the old stuff".

Added the dark zam 1st ed and FA from a show earlier this month. Debating what to go after next🤔

Thoughts? Essentially 2 IRs/SIRs on left and right middle pockets and my favorite/featured card in the middle and other favorite half art cards on top and bottom rows.

On and off, but last card came in. Gym Heroes set complete! Onto the next one.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get all my pages in 20 pictures but these are my more complete/ favorite pages! I also have about 10 slabs, and the last pic I posted were some of my recent purchases from the last month or two. I’ve been collecting for about two years now and have been on and off and I haven’t bought much of anything since Ascended heroes, since the scalping has just become ridiculous. But I’m happy to see just how high the hit rates are for 30th celebrations and seeing how much is getting printed, it seems like it will be a hard set to scalp, I hope.

Happy Sunday everyone! Finished putting these themed pages together and thought I’d share the progress. Pretty happy with how these turned out—modern art rares are so useful for suggesting a story with the surrounding cards!

Want to complete a master set eventually. I have most of the holos so far, my chase card is the Kraze Club card right now. Also working on a Legend Maker reverse holo, and the other-numbered Yuka Morii cards that are hard to find.

I also have the other M Gardevoir EX but that’s in another binder with my other RC cards.
