Can I install any app?

Just a curiosity until I get my car. Since the Polestar uses (more or less) standard Android interface, could I install any app on the console? I was considering an OBDII bluetooth adapter and just install an appropriate app on the cars Android system.

New company car

Hi all. Just been allowed to choose my new work vehicle. I've gone for the 310kw awd. Personally I think it's a great looking car. Can any of you give me some of the good and bad points you've experienced. Thanks 😊

Void touch up paint?

My P2 has a bunch of chips and little scratches that I would like to touch up with OEM paint. Does Polestar have an official touch up kit or touch up pen? My last car was a Mazda and it was easy to find an OEM paint pen. I tried googling this but I don’t know what would actually match well.

335d to P2 LRDM

Hey all,

Long time BMW fan here.

I've got a 2017 335d with 110k miles and it's beginning to need more attention to keep it happy. I've been hanging fire on the EV front until there are more performance oriented saloons around, but the prospect of big bills is getting me nervous, especially when I factor in that I can put my £250 a month on diesel towards the cost of an EV. An i4 M50 is the natural next step, but they're a bit out of my price range at the moment.

I love the way the BMW drives - I have the adaptive dampers, and it basically corners flat and does things a two tonne saloon shouldn't be able to. A colleague had a 2021 LRSM and compared with his experience of BMWs thought the Polestar to be a bit on the dull side to drive.

I have a test drive booked for a couple of weeks time, but can I ask if anyone has experience of swapping from a similar BMW to a Polestar? How did/do you find it in the handling department? I think a lot of other things are probably what you would expect from an upgrade to a more modern EV.

Thank you :)

I had these errors as I got in my car (P2 LRSM) this evening before I put the car in drive and set off.

The Headlamp cam on later as I was driving (it was starting to get a little darker)

All the lights work, including high beam when the stalk is pushed.

Is seems this could all be related to the camera and or Front Radar (I've cleaned them both to see if that was the issue) There is no sign recognition or speed camera warning also.

Has anyone else had a similar issue. Can it be rectified by me, rather than a trip to the dealers.

Thanks

How do you colour match replacement parking sensors?

My outer two parking sensors have failed according to service health check. Replacement part no. Is 32271066 however all the Bosch sensors I see online come in black instead of the same colour as the car (blue for me). Can I just paint them?

Is it worth purchasing the extended warranty on a 2024 P2?

Considering buying a 2024 P2. Basic bumper to bumper warranty expires in 2 years. Should I shell out another CAD $4k to get the 2 more years as part of the extended warranty?

My thought is the battery / motor is what costs the most, and that's covered under the 8y powertrain warranty.

Mileage concerns on a P2

I’m nearly the proud owner of dual motor 2024 P2 with Plus & Pilot pack. The only concern is that the mileage is around 70k miles, which is high for a car 2.5 years old. I’ve paid the deposit to complete tomorrow contingent on the battery report.

Doing the maths, I’m thinking this could be 3-4 home charges a week, so doesn’t mean only fast chargers up and down the motorway.

But aside from battery condition, should I be concerned by these miles? I will have warranty, but just don’t want to worry. I know EW mileage is not like ICE, especially motorway miles, but would be great to hear people’s thoughts!

The car will come from polestar, so will include all their checks.

I was spotted

Driving on Rt3 stuck in traffic I hear a beep next to me. I see a very excited guy in a near clone of my car waving. My man, I share your excitement. Side note, you guys scare the crap out of me with all the issues posted here. I thought it would be good to post something post to counter all the horror stories.

OBC Replacement

Just wanted to share my experience with the On-Board Charger replacement on our MY22.

We picked up our brand new MY22 back in mid December 2021. Toward the end of last month, the car suddenly wouldn’t charge at home anymore. Every time I plugged it in, I could hear the click, but less than a minute later the dash would show a charging error and turn red.

At first, I thought it was the 12V battery issue, so I bought a new battery from Costco and replaced it myself. Unfortunately, that didn’t fix anything.

We contacted the dealership where we originally picked up the car from and scheduled a diagnostic appointment ($250). After dropping it off, they found out the OBC unit had failed. Since the car had just passed the 4 years warranty period, it was no longer covered. The original quote for parts and labor came out to $4,146.46, with the OBC unit itself costing $1,583.85.

Honestly, my wife and I thought that was way too much considering the car is worth under $20k now and has less than 45k miles on it. We were seriously debating whether it was even worth repairing.

We decided to call Polestar directly, and at first they told us the same thing, the car was outside the 4 year / 50k warranty coverage. However, the representative said she would contact the dealership to see if there was anything they could do.

A little later, the dealership called us back and said Polestar approved “Polestar Goodwill” assistance and waived the entire OBC part cost from the invoice. In the end, we paid $2,381.94, mainly for labor and battery coolant service.

Since we had only barely passed the warranty period, they helped us out with the parts coverage, which we really appreciated.

So for anyone else with a P2 dealing with an OBC failure, call Polestar directly and try negotiating before paying full price. You might be able to get goodwill assistance.

So far everything has been working great again on P2. Planning to keep driving it another 4-5 years before replacing it with whatever my wife wants next lol.

Sudden Range Drop After 2 Years — Normal BMS Recalibration or Battery Degradation?

I’m curious if this is normal behavior or if anyone else with a Polestar has experienced something similar.

I bought my 2 Dual Motor MY24 in March 2024, and for almost two full years, a 90% charge consistently showed around 460 km of range. This stayed remarkably stable through two winters… until around December/January this year.

At that point, I suddenly noticed that a 90% charge was showing around 440 km instead of 460. At first, I didn’t think too much about it because it was winter: colder temperatures, winter tires, different wheel setup, etc. I assumed the car’s estimate was adapting to conditions and that things would return to normal once temperatures improved, so I switched back to summer tires.

But the opposite happened.

Since late April, a 90% charge now shows around 430 km. So in roughly 3–4 months, the estimated range dropped from 460 to 430 km. That feels like a very large drop in a short period of time, especially given that the battery had been extremely stable for almost 2 years before that.

A few details about my charging habits and usage:

  • I normally charge to 80% daily use or 90% before trips
  • I do a lot of small top-ups at home (even if I only use 5–10%)
  • The car has only been charged to 100% maybe half a dozen times in total
  • I’ve probably done only 10–15 DC fast charges in over two years
  • The car almost never goes below 20% battery
  • In more than two years, I only reached home below 20% twice, both around 17%
  • Most charging is AC / slow charging

Overall, I’d say the battery has been handled pretty carefully.

My question is:

Is this likely real battery degradation, or is the Polestar BMS/range estimator recalibrating itself somehow based on recent driving patterns, temperatures, tire setup, etc.?

Does the performance update affect the range ( I asked this several times before updating, and the answer always was no)

Because losing around 30 km of displayed range in just a few months after two years of stability seems surprisingly aggressive to me.

Would love to hear if others have seen something similar, especially around the 2-year mark.

Note: before anyone asks, I'm not in Dynamic Range Mode.

Any early owners managed to get plug& charge working?

Spent 45mins getting these Applegreen chargers to give me love yesterday night, and decided to go on a side-quest and get autocharge working too. It failed. After much on-the-spot research, discovered only CC's seem to make these machines happy.

But was wondering: have any other P2 owners been successful getting these machines along I-95 or the PA turnpike to just activate with the app yet? CS was unhelpful. Plugshare basically said pay with CC. I'd love autocharge, however the only network I've ever experienced it with is EVgo what's everyone else's experience?

Range Assistant Issue

Since the v5 update a couple of months back, I noticed my range assistant (2021 LRDM Plus/Pilot/Perf sw) has been a little bit bonkers - the data is absolutely insane and totally incorrect.

I’ve ended up resetting the Trip Manual data but also going into the settings and force stopping the Range Assistant app, and deleting both its cache and data.

It now is ‘empty’ ready for my next drive, so I’m crossing my fingers that cures it.

Did anyone else get this bonkers issue after the update?

DIY 360* camera alignment on P2!

Snooping around the app “V-Tool” (specifically made for reading/writing Volvo/Polestar car data) and connected to my cheap OBDII reader, I saw that there was an option for “360 camera calibration”. This should in theory recalibrate the camera as you drive over the next x-amount of time. Given my cameras slight misalignment when stitched together in the 360 view (I know a lot of people has this) I’m tempted to try… has anyone tried this themselves? 👀

Polestar 2 Used battery check

Hi everyone

I’m taking a plunge into the EV world this week and going to look at a used Polestar 2 2023 LRSM to buy. It has just over 40,000 miles on the clock.

The garage that I’m going to that has the car has really great reviews, is offering a comprehensive 12 month warranty (I have checked the terms, it seems to cover everything I would expect) which I’m going to try and extend to two years so it matches buying used from polestar.

The only issue I have at the moment is the garage don’t seem to have a battery health check - and not just for this one but for their other EVs too. I’m going to ask in person when I view the car if they have it (I know some don’t put it in the ads), but if they don’t is turning off dynamic range and calculating the current battery charge percent to estimated range an ok substitute?

Thanks in advance!

About to buy a polestar 2 as a student want your opinion

Hey guys, im about to buy a used Polestar 2 long range awd 2022 with pack plus and with 120 000km.The price is good. I will do about 108 000km in 4 years for school. Im a bit worried about the fact that I will run out of battery warranty in about 1,5year. Should I be? In live in canada with snow from the end of october to the end of march. How is the car in cold climate (-20C around 17 days in a winter) and how is it when it comes to rust?

Thanks in advance

To sunshade or not to sunshade?

Recently acquired a 24 LRDM.

I live in the southeast (edit: USA; sorry for initially not considering) , where summers get pretty hot. Do you all recommend getting a moonroof sunshade?

Seems like it could be a pretty involved process to install/ remove it. I will be parking outside at an office.

Thoughts?
