Hey Reddit!! It’s Emei here.

I’m an alt-pop artist on tour right now!! Some fun facts about me: I’ve been singing since I was 9, writing since I was 15, I got third place on Chinese Idol in high school, I got a cognitive science degree from Yale and I started this artist project senior year of college!

I ended up moving to LA post grad after one of my videos of my song Late to the Party went viral and now I’m on my 4th headline tour!!

Whether you want to talk about music, songwriting, touring, my time on Chinese Idol, going from Yale to pursuing music, or literally anything else, I’m an open book!

Most upbeat fun pop songs of 2026?

Hey all! I’ve been putting together a playlist of bangers from the year for a fun warm day bike ride. I’m talkin Olivia great expectations, CRJ on wires, Hilary duff future tripping, pinky up katseye

Having a hard time remembering things that were new releases, maybe I haven’t heard em all yet either!

For instance gotta find the right Tinashe song from her new album, it’s so good! (Any ideas on that?)

The songs need to be ones you wanna shake your ass to and make you happy. We’re gonna be in a group riding bikes in the sunshine, so that type of feeling! Songs you don’t wanna stop repeating because they’re so fun

Forgotten Nickelodeon Popgirls: Kira Kosarin

If you know this name, you're probably most familiar with her work in The Thundermans, a show which she acted in and later executive produced in the reboot, that centres around a modern superhero family. Perhaps you also recognize Kira from Shake It Up, or even That '90s Show.

Well, while most of her career has focused on acting, she also has a solid body of music under her belt! She released her debut EP, Off Brand, in 2019 - named such because it was a departure from the "innocent" reputation expected of Nickelodeon stars, touching on topics like sex and drugs. (It has since been removed from streaming :( )She went on to release two more EPs, Songbird and Something New, before moving back into acting. She still releases some collab songs every now and then.

Kira's YouTube channel focuses on health and fitness (with a lot of rock climbing), and she has been very open about her struggles with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). To me, her music feels like a hug.
