Jurassic Park - Velociraptor Resonation Chamber

Wanted to test doing some bone weathering, and love Jurassic Park. So decided to print and paint this. Still new to this to let me know your thoughts and any advice!

TitanFall 2 - Jack Cooper Helmet

So this is the first prop I ever 3D printed, painted / processed, and finished. So I'm definitely open to feedback. I still have to add the back belt part but I haven't been able to find a strap or belt that fits the bill yet for cheap. I also added some foam on the inside so you can put it on comfortably. Drilled out vent holes for intake at the front and added a battery powered fan to keep cool if worn. The last couple photos are from the original print and assembly.

I definitely think I could do a better job with the acrylic wash to make the indentations look more pronounced. I also had trouble doing this in the already dark / black parts, so any recommendations is welcome!

Should I 3D Print a Spider-Man Face Shell or Just Buy One?

I’m thinking about adding a face shell to my Spider-Man mask, but I’m trying to decide if I should buy one or make one myself.

I already have a generic Raimi-style Spider-Man mask that came with an Amazon suit, so I’m hoping I can reuse it instead of buying a new mask. Has anyone successfully used a similar mask with a face shell?

I also have access to my college’s 3D printers. I would need to pay for the filament since this is for personal use, but I wouldn’t have to buy a printer. Would printing my own face shell end up being cheaper than buying one?

If you’ve made your own, I’d appreciate any advice on:
Good free STL files.
How much filament a face shell usually uses.
Whether PLA is a good choice.
Step by step video tutorials for printing, sanding, painting, installing magnets, lenses, and assembling everything.

One thing I’m also unsure about is the lenses. My current mask already has eye frames and mesh installed. Would it make sense to carefully remove those, add magnets to the back, and use them on a magnetic face shell? Or is it better to print or buy new magnetic eye frames and lenses?

I’ve attached a photo of the mask I’m starting with so you can see exactly what I’m working with. If anyone has experience using a similar mask with a face shell, I’d really appreciate your advice.

This will be my first 3D printing project, so any beginner tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Shattering Wall Section

Getting ready to shoot a POC (Proof-of-Concept short film) that has a close-up of a head getting bashed into a concrete wall with enough force it causes the outer layer of concrete to shatter (think shards of concrete).

Here is my question: Does anyone have a recipe for a material that can be applied onto a soft foam slab to a thickness of 1/4 inch that once it has set, can be stood up vertically and still adhere to the foam slab which will be attached to a flat?

I am still experimenting with powdered sugar mixes but without success.

Chocolate bark has the apparent thickness and solidity but while tasty might be too costly.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Fun little clock

I finally followed through with a project idea I had as a child. I am sure this idea was born from watching Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote when I was young.

It is a very simple project requiring the minimum of wooden dowels, red paint, and a clock insert. The wires and fuse were just a little something extra.

Accidentally used more part A than B

Is this enough to make a significant difference? Or will it just leave me with a sticky mess? I'm hoping it will just take a little longer to cure. Or just not be as hard.

Seeking Help/Information on Making an Interactive Stalker Artifact Detector

Some context first. There is a 3 day event based off the Stalker games that I am going to be heading to in a few months. I am trying to figure out if it was possible to make an Echo artifact detector that beeps and flashes faster the closer you are to an artifact. I am guessing that Bluetooth Low Energy tags are probably to way to go for tracking based off of what I have been reading. Just trying to see the feasibility of the project and if multiple trackers could be made to do the same thing of tracking the tagged artifact props. Funnily enough this is my first prop making and I am not sure if it is even possible.

If the idea isn't feasible, then looking for assistance in making the prop interactive with flashing light and beeping.

Edit: The picture is for reference of what I am seeking to make.

Silicone demolding for wearable snake tail

Costume making is less “fun” and more dedication and satisfaction comes from finishing something and seeing it come alive. The process… is not what I’d call fun lol. But it is rewarding.
Ultimately I did get the newly formed and cured silicone Tail “skin” off… but not how I was wanting to.
Since I wasn’t done with the silicone layers but it needed to come off the form I made I didn’t want to lubricate it yet because unless it’s cleaned to literal perfection that can inhibit new layers of silicone from curing. But in the end I gave up, lubed up the big ol thing and got an extra hand to help. I’ll share that video soon too.

How reasonable is it to try and make a fairly detailed cloak for a first time crafting/cosplay project?

Recently I began my first cosplay/crafting project and so far it has been going exceedingly well; I needed to throw away my first 3 attempts, but that's all part of learning!

What i am trying to recreate is the armor and outfit of Needle Knight Leda, from Elden ring. The armor and filigree I have mostly sorted and will just be a TON of 3D printing. However, there is one element I'm still not sure of; how the hell do I do the cloth elements?

I have zero experience in sewing and cloth making, and as such don't even know if it's a dumb, or smart idea to do this myself.

My assumptions on the process are;

  1. Find a big piece of cloth of the right texture, and find a pattern for the kind of clothing you look for.
  2. cut out the pattern with specialty scissors.
  3. For the fine gold details, cloth filigree is available online and can be stitched on.

Are these broad strokes okay, or am I really missing the mark? Please do be critical, as I really want to refine this process before I begin making any purchases. Is this possible? Or, would it perhaps be better/cheaper to comission this from someone more experienced?

Included are references of the outfit I'm going for.

Rey Skywalker scavenger staff

Pretty happy with the weathering achieved with this staff.

3d printed in PETG, smoothed with the guide coat method, painted with automotive 2k paints and HVLP spray guns, textured using hammered pewter rattle can, baking soda and CA glue, , Graphite powder, and weathered with acrylics washes (black, brown, white).

Ideas for practical Effect

Hey, i have been tasked to achieve an Effect in which the toppings of a slice of Pizza should slide of in one Piece, leaving only the dough and crust. It should be as Repeatable as Possible. My Ideas so far are, to bake the toppings on top of a sheet of aluminium foil which should hold them together and reduce friction, allowing them to slide of when tipping the slice of Pizza. Im not sure this will look convincing though. I would really appreciate any ideas you might have, to achieve this effect.
