Aye there any privacy focused equivelants of an amazon firestick?

So aye basically what the title says.

I'm looking for devices that fit the same consummer niche as a fire stick that is ideally more privacy focused.

I dislike the lack of information control the consumer has over smart TVs and basically anything amazon makes and want to try and find an alternative that allows some of the benifets offered by a smart TV without feeling as creeped out by it 🤣

May just be wishful thinking but surly some company has realised theres market out there for people who want a little more convenience without having to accept all of the creepy information harvesting.

More new danger days merch has dropped.

Heads up all since placing my order this morning/afternoon more merch has been uploaded to the website. Definite additions are three more slip mats and there might be a few hoodies/tees but im not certain.

Immensely Hyped to see some new Danger Days stuff.

DD is likely still my favourite album. It came right at the moment where I was getting out of being a depressed wee kid and really coming into myself as a more vibrant and colourful adult, discovering my queer identity and really just becoming me. The tone shift in the album really framed that moment in my life, hell it might have even been the motivator for a lot of it.

I spent a lot of 2010 compiling all of the youtube videos and media releases, all of the reference art and logos, sadly that laptop is broke but the info is still on the drive and if I ever get around to accessing it I'll put some of the media out there for folks.

I was far too broke in 2010 as a teenager and the merch store wasn't truly international yet so I sadly couldnt get much of the merch I'd wanted due to overall costs and the onerous shipping to the UK at the time. I picked up bits and pieces for birthday and christmas like bandanas, franks waistcoat, gee's raygun from the merch store (when they released single ones a while after the deluxe edition) and I got the album and a vinyl here or there at the time when they came to UK stores. I was immensely lucky to get the stuff that I did at the time and honestly actually getting it was out of my control entirely which I'm sure a lot of people can relate to being teenagers and asking for something their parents think is "dumb" for birthdays or christmas.

Seeing a big and really interesting merch drop (BLI tapes? They really didnt need to do that and I really appreciate the dedication to the aestetic) as an adult is honestly a bit cathartic. Being able to afford the bits that I want from it in the way I couldnt as a kid, without relying on someone buying it for me and not having a heart attack at the shipping cost is a really quite nice experience. (admittedly I borrowed the cash for buying now but will be paying it back in a few days when I get paid, just didnt want to wait till next week incase a bunch of stuff sold out)

I really hope they bring out more DD merch if this stuff is successful as I really wanna see more stuff, especially "in universe" stuff.

One thing this has given me a bit of hope for and a wre message I wannt folks to take away from this:

Kids, if you're looking at this merch and crying a little inside (or outside I wont judge) because you cannot afford any of the cool stuff you see, or your family cant afford to/wont get you any of it for special occasions, it really sucks and I get it. But new opportunities will still come in the future. There will be more merch drops when you're an adult and in control of your own life xx

Baseboard to doorframe ratio? + what colour would you paint the baseboards in this room?

Me again, I have far too many questions for Yall lately.

Q1:

Is there a reccomended ratio for baseboard and doorframe thickness?

Just about finished flooring my livingroom and hallway and have decided the new floor looks too good to put the ugly old baseboards back (been planning to replace them for ages anyway), I'm just going to survive without them for the rest of the month and buy new ones in next month to install. From now until then I'm going to spend my time patching the walls and repainting sections.

When the new baseboards are going in I'm planning on doing plinth blocks at the bottom of the doors as I think they look considerably nicer than skirting pushing up against the door facings.

I'm not quite ready to do the door facings budget wise, I'm planning on just doing the baseboards and plinth blocks for now and coming back to door facings in the not-too-distant future.

But this introduces a small dilema, i have to get a rough idea of what width my door facings are going to be so I know the size the plinth blocks need to be. Normally I'd just base it off of a normal door facing but I'm planning on doing wider baseboards, in the 15cm ballpark maybe taller as my ceiling is pretty high and the tiny wee skirting boards that are on right now look so wrong in the space, maybe even wider than that tbh I gotta make a call there soon. I dont know if the width of the baseboards is going to have an effect on how wide my door facings will need to be, so wanna check before I proceed so I can do my plinth boards properly.

Q2:

Advice on what colour for the baseboards in this room?

I've had white baseboards and facings in this room from the start. Ive not been the biggest fan of them. The upper wall is cream and the lower wall is a goodhome colour named after some american city or other as far as I can remember (paint tin is buried in the spare room right now so i can still match it). Its maybe a smidge darker than your average anthricite.

My original plan was grey satin doors and trim in the entire flat, but i dont know if theyd be too cold for this room as despite the near black of the lower wall its a very warm room with lots of dark wood furnishings and warm lighting.

I'm planning on doing a decorative chair rail and moulding on the black part of these walls and theyre going to be painted the same dark colour as the wall.

I've been toying with wether or not to basically go for a drench on the lower half of the room and paint the baseboards, door facings and chair rail/trim in the same colour/a slight tint of it. I know it sounds quite bold but my overall interior style fits with this quite intense choice, ive actually painted my vestibule glass paned door the same colour and it looks really good which is what convinced me that it doesnt look too dark and imposing when pulled higher up the walls

The radiator is going to get covered with one of those vented wooden thingies here, or possibly painted, though im unsure how I feel about painted radiators as they dont tend to hold up as well as Id like.

Cheers in advance everyone xx
