I just recently bought the backwards compatible ps3 (CECHE01) and have been loving it, i want to play my ps2 imports though and ive had alot of trouble downloading evilnat.

I would try to update via the xmb, the system would literally brick itself until I took the hard drive out and put it back in, which was a pain thanks to the screws being stripped.

Then in safe mode, id get an error saying the datas corrupted.

Im on 4.93, I cant use ps3toolset to get my flash memory and I tried the other new flash memory site too, yes I am using the 4.93 evilnat from psxplace and the file is definitely named what it should be.

Any advice or do I wait for ps3toolset?

Hey all!

I finally got around to to opening my CECHE and repasting it and giving it a much needed deep cleaning after it shut down on me after about 5 minutes of playing Gran Turismo 6.

So I go to play Gran Turismo 6 again after a day, and it just did the same thing, shut down after about 5 minutes, red blinking light.

Does anybody know what else can be done to prevent this from happening?

*Edit 3: I've fixed it. WebmanMOD was somehow conflicting. Uninstalled, PS3 discs now run perfectly. Thanks to everyone who offered ideas!

I've seen a few posts about this already, but usually the answers are outdated, deleted, or kind of unhelpful.

I'm aware that these blu-ray drives are old and eventually do die, but mine worked flawlessly just a matter of hours before I put cfw on the thing. And I keep seeing forum posts describing the same issue. I'm not convinced this is a coincidence, or that my laser just died of natural causes. I've tried this with multiple discs. PS3 games, Blu rays, PS1 games, DVDs. All that reads now are CDs. CDs work fine. Surprised DVDs aren't working.

If I re-install the latest version of Evilnat, I can see my disc pop up on the home screen like it should. This is not the "noBD" version of Evilnat. The PS3 recognizes the contents of the disc. But if I try to play that disc, the system seems to crash. Black screen, no fan noise to suggest it's doing anything. Eject button works. Power button will flash the power light until it finally does a force shutdown. On reboot after that force shutdown, the fan spins up fairly loud for a moment, and the game is again gone from the home screen. Eject, pop it back in, nothing. Re-install, there it is again, crash.

Do we know why this occurs?

*Edit: One quirk I've noticed is if I'm playing a downloaded game while a Blu-Ray movie is in the drive, I can see that disk. If I try to open the movie while in-game, of course the game has to close first. Once the game closes the movie vanishes. It won't reappear until I open a game.

*Edit 2: I've confirmed that the laser itself does work. Under specific conditions. Both lasers actually.

If I go to ★ Custom Firmware Tools > Service Tools > Check File System, click that. I'll then be told that the system didn't shut down correctly and it needs to do a whole verification thing. Then once I'm back at the XMB, I can see my disc. If it's a game disc then it'll just crash my console as soon as I click it, but a Blu-ray copy of a movie will actually play perfectly fine in these circumstances. I can pop it out and put another movie in, still works. Blu-ray, DVD. PS1 games work now too.

But if I pop a PS3 game in after, it'll show up, but running it still crashes my system. After that crash, no disc is gonna pop up until I either re-install Evilnat (which doesn't actually render the disc playable), or do the Check File System thing (which fixes all discs except for PS3 discs).

My ps3 frequently shut it selfs, temperatures are around 65 degrees... its a fat is it ylod that im facing? could somebody help me figure out the problem before its too late?

I just learned about the concept of Jailbreaking a PS3 and I would like to do just that to my PS3 that I don't really use very often (especially with the PSN being shut down for it i the next year).

I've read up a little on the topic and wanted to ask humans about if my expectations of what I could do with my PS3 are realistic.

So here we go - all questions with a "..." have a start of "If I jailbreak my PS3..."

1. ... Can I still use it to play my PS3 disc games?

2. ... Can I use it as en emulator? My research suggests it can be used as an emulator for older consoles (SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, and probably handheld consoles as well, such as PSP, or GameBoy). [I understand some may have unforeseen limitations]

3. ... Can I use it to play my PS2 disc games? I have the original fat version of the PS3, and it's never been able to play PS2 games natively.

4. ... Could I effectively use it as an emulator for PS3 games too? If I didn't have a PS3 disc for a certain game, could I find files for it elsewhere and use that to play the game? (Not asking to find a place to get such files, just that if it can be used in this way).

5. How difficult is it to get it set up to use emulators/play PS2/3 discs? I'm not a novice when it comes to main line computers, but I know very little about how other electronic devices work (especially consoles).

6. What other additional things may I not be considering based on the 5 above questions?

I appreciate any info anyone can give me. This is completely new territory for me, and I think I would really enjoy using my PS3 in the ways I think i could use it for, but I want to make sure it's possible before I start messing around with it and potentially brick it.

I don’t really like modding stuff as i like to keep my stuff but here goes last year I was happily playing on my ps3 when I realized I could get platinum trophies here that are not on ps5 but then I also realized my ps3 is already 16 years old and I know there is a software thing that allows me to check how many days are left before the ylod so then I went to the site through my ps3 and when I went it automatically started downloading something and when it said “Downloading CFW Piracy” I immedeatly left and here I am one year later after that happened wondering if my old Psn account will get banned and I’ve been wanting to get back to the ps3 because of the recent news about the shutdown happening and I wanna know that if I were to log in to my psn account on my ps3( New one because I was skeptical to use my old account) will my psn account get banned on ps5 aswell or since I automatically stopped the download I’m fine pls tell me because I’m on OfferUp looking at a ps3 for a couple hundred bucks

I recently purchased a secondhand white PS3 Fat (model CECHH00). To ensure its longevity, the first thing I did after buying the console was to fully disassemble, deep clean, and repaste the APU/RSX.

The Baseline (Old HDD): Initially, when testing with the original HDD (with 4.83 firmware), the thermals looked great. While idling in the XMB for the first 10 minutes, the fan speed hovered around 45–55% to maintain a steady 65°C.

The Issue (New HDD + CFW): The thermal behavior changed drastically after I upgraded the storage and software. I installed a new 1TB HDD, updated to CFW 4.93, and reinstalled multiMAN and WebMAN MOD.

Now, the fan has become significantly louder. The fan speed constantly sits above 60% and occasionally ramps up to 75% just to keep the console at 68°C while idling.

My Questions:

• Could the new 1TB drive be generating excess heat, or is this likely a WebMAN MOD fan profile configuration issue?
• Does anyone have suggestions or specific settings I could adjust to safely lower these temperatures and fan speeds?

I’ve never jailbroken a PS3 before, I’m beyond over getting ripped off for games though. I tried to purchase the Family Guy Multiverse game twice now both copies came scratched. $60 down the drain. I’m seriously considering jailbreaking now. What are the pros and cons to hen?

i got a backwards comp ps3 got ratchet and clank how do i play the iso when i use mmcm it takes me to xmb i load the ps2 disc goes black then right back to xmp doesnt load game

There's this excellent wiki page about hdd sizes: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Harddrive According to the page, a hdd with 931 GiB is perfectly fine when it comes to the filesystem check, nothing should fail.

Unfortunately, at least in my experience (tested in multiple configurations), the filesystem check also breaks for drives with 931GiB and below, but the symptoms only appear after the HDD is filled up.

I'm currently setting up a new ps3, with a perfectly working 1tb hdd (full format passes just fine, no sector issues), and I've noticed that somewhere between 400gb and 600gb of taken space the filesystem check function doesn't finish at 100%, but instead bails at 15%-25% (consistent wrt to the contents of the hdd, as long as you don't change the contents the failing pct is the same) and the console just reboots without finishing the check.

I have tried to narrow down the cause, this happens on a different console (why I tried to make a new setup in the first place), with a different drive (931GiB SSD), with a different CFW version (4.92 and 4.93 evilnat), and with barely any software running. I have this issue on a fresh setup where I have multiman for filemanagement, webmanmod for the iso menu and apollo for setting up the psn account; the setup is so fresh there wasn't even a hard reset or anything. All I have done was just set these up these 3 packages and copy the files from a fat32 drive to dev_hdd0.

What is the cause here? Are the filesystem functions in multiman somehow borked, or is there a hard limit not just on the drive size as the wiki claims, but also on how much of the drive is occupied? Thoughts?

I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot a PSN sign-in issue on my PS3.

Here's my setup:

• PS3 Slim CECH-2103A
• Fresh install of Evilnat 4.93 D-PEX after replacing a failing HDD
• Internet connection test succeeds (obtains IP and connects to the internet)
• Using a Device Setup Password for PSN
• Spoofed Target ID

Originally I was getting error 8002A224 after reinstalling the firmware. After making some configuration changes, that error went away, but now I'm getting 80710016 when trying to sign into PSN.

Things I've already tried:

• Fresh HDD and firmware installation
• Rebooting the console
• Confirmed internet connectivity
• Using a Device Setup Password

Has anyone experienced 80710016 on Evilnat 4.93 D-PEX after a fresh install? If so, what ended up being the cause?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I just got a fat PS3 from eBay and jailbroke it with Evilnat cfw and webman. Whenever I sign into PSN, i hold triangle and L2 to disable syscalls before I sign in. Is this still necessary because the PS3 is old enough so Sony doesn't care? Thanks for the help.
