New (to me) raft, what do I need to know and what else do I need?

Purchased a STAR hurricane raft directly from NRS for $600, not new but seems like she's in good condition.

https://www.nrs.com/star-select-hurricane-raft/p1z5

My raft before this was a really old (40 year) hypalon boat so I understand I need to be more careful with folding and rolling a PVC vs a rubber boat.

I built the frame and thankfully the measurements on both rafts were close enough I didn't have to modify it at all.

Supposedly they have small leaks in them that make them fine for day trips is what the tag said when I bought it, I was wondering if I could just run it at like 2 vs 3 psi which is what it's rated at.

Sticky Rocky Mountain Raft

I tarped my 2012 Rocky Mountain Raft for the winter and now it is covered in a sticky goo that I can’t get off. I have tried a pressure washer with hot water, simple green boat cleaner, and dawn dish soap with very little success. At this point I have almost 20 hours of scrubbing it and it still sticks to your skin and leaves your hands nasty. Does anyone have any tricks or tips for this issue? I talked to RMR and they said they would give me a 50% discount on a new raft but I would like to save my old one if possible before I drop a ton of money.
Thanks for the help .

Please help us support Team River Runner

Hey all you whitewater lovers, we're celebrating 40 years of building Shredders this year and one of the things we're doing is helping Americans Veterans by giving away one of our American made Big Rocker Shredders. You don't need to be present to win and shipping to your door is free inside the Continental USA. Follow the link below and Donate some money to Team River Runner so they can get Veterans out on the water, feel good about helping get people on the water and maybe walk away with a new boat in tte process!

Thank you to everyone who has made these last few decades great, let's keep up the fun for another few decades.

Thoughts on Ancient Rafts

Alright so I know with was probably a bad idea, but I bought a Camp Way Miwok 14’ raft and fully expected to need to patch it. I got it cheaper than I could to rent a raft for a day so I figured worst case scenario we get a good story out of it. I might have too much trust in humanity because I didn’t really think someone would sell something that would actually sink, but after we checked the serial number this thing was built in 1981. It’s older than me. I know pretty much nothing about what could go wrong, but I’m wondering if patching it is going to be more work than it’s worth. Let’s say I get the thing to hold air (second pic was after about 14hrs), how risky is it to take it out to the lake check it over for “floaty-ness” then if it holds air for several consecutive days I’m considering taking it out down the river (on an overnight trip). I’d be going with another group with a legit setup. We just do chill floating trips with the fam. I just kinda want to take it out while I’ve got another boat in case I need to bail. I’m genuinely nervous to let the kids get on. It’s the original floor, but I’m not sure if I’m just over analyzing it. Like I said though, I’m pretty novice and I’d just like your thoughts.

How is Cataract Canyon looking - specifically early June

Have done a fair amount of guided rafting (including some "big water") but not Cataract Canyon yet despite being on my list.

I've looked at DreamFlows, and USGS, but as everyone knows, it's an historically BAD year for snowpack, so is it already at peak?

Any (honest) feedback/predictions on what it will be like in early June is appreciated - TIA.

Valve repair suggestions?

Threading of the male end (in the Aire cell) of the C7 valve just broke inside of the capping piece. Is there a way I can get the plastic part of the old plunger assembly out of the Aire cell without cutting a hole in it?

Seeking! Rafting in Tara River Canyon

Hey! My friend and I are planning a trip to Montenegro at the end of June. I’m highly interested in an organized day trip to Tara River Canyon from Kotor. I requested a booking from Adventure Montenegro but it requires a minimum of 4 people for the tour to be conducted (currently, it’s just me and one friend that have requested our day so far).

Seeking: anyone else interested in requesting/booking their tour? Trying to find two more people to reach out to them so we don’t miss out!

Date: June 25, 2026

The tour: rafting Tara River

Their website: https://adventuresmontenegro.me/tour/rafting-tara-river

Or!

If you know of other alternatives that run on this date and will pick up from Kotor, I’m interested!

Any info would be great to do this.
Thanks

River Tube Teethering Question

We are taking the kids ages 7,9 and 12 river tubing in Gatlinburg in August. It should be a peaceful trip with a few very light rapids. I know that it is completely dangerous to teether rafts together- so we will not allow it at all. However is there any reason it would be unsafe to have the girls hold onto a single rope to help them stay together? I assume that if anything happened they could easily let go of the rope since it is not attached to the tube.

Maybe I'm overthinking it- but you can't be too careful with large bodies of water. I'm assuming someone on here would know more than myself. Thank you!

Labyrinth Bug Status

Anyone come off Labyrinth recently? Putting in next week. Wondering how many gallons of deet to bring. We’ve just had a couple of unseasonal hatches in my part of southern Utah this year.
