Any suggestions please share.

Thinking of making a Sturmtiger.

Could I take off the turret from a rc tiger, replace it with a Sturmtiger hull I would make, and create a fireable mortar shell from a rocket engine. Is this possible or too crazy?

Hard to decide between this or pz. 3 and 4... Now i just want to know if it would last

Tiger 1 Restoration Project

I got this Tiger in pretty good shape, except for a couple issues with the turret ring gear and the smoke unit not working. Plus it had a tendency to throw the left track.

I wasn't super happy with the previous paintjob, so while i was stripping it down to take a look at the running gear I decided I'd do a full factory restoration.

Maybe I'll weather it down a little in the future, but so far i'm really enjoying watching it come back to life!

SoCal RC Tank meet coming up 5/31/26 in Westminster, CA

Greetings everyone! Just wanted to announce an upcoming gathering we're having of our SoCal RC Tank Club if you're interested in IR battling or just hanging out and talking about the hobby! All are welcome. We'll be at Tony Lam Park in Westminster, CA 5/31/26 (a Sunday). Bring your friends! If you're on the fence about joining, bring your tank and your questions anyway! We love to help! We're up to about 2 meets a month now but I don't want to spam it every time here so if you want to be more up to date, we're on IG (@ socalrctankclub), FB (SOCAL RC Tank Club). I also maintain a discord for my fellow RC tank and tank anime enjoyers (https://discord.gg/bqCKBR7N2r) which holds a subsection for the SoCal RC Tank group as well.

Not exactly a tank. however it is tracked and i am planning to 3D print it when i am done designing it.

It is still lacking an interior, however all the mechanical stuff and suspention is ready to go.

12kg 3D printed RC tank — first time tracks ran under their own power (build series Ep.1)

Spent a lot of time designing this — 60cm long, fully 3D printed chassis, dual brushless motors with custom gear reduction, held together with screws and brass threaded inserts. No glue anywhere in the build. This is the moment in Episode 1 where the tracks finally moved on their own. The motors had been overheating for weeks, then torque was insufficient through two gearbox iterations, then the suspension nearly couldn't hold the 12kg weight. Three redesigns later, here we are. Full build breakdown on YouTube if anyone wants the engineering details (linked in comments because not sure if main post allows). Happy to answer questions about printing settings, motor specs, or the gear ratios.

Upgraded jagdpanther with metal road wheels
but it start struggling when turning on any surface except indoor, does it mean the motor is too weak?

CASI TERMINADO!

My Taigen Tiger

I got it as an unfinished project from a man who's dad had passed away before finishing it. It was mostly complete, just the smaller bits to add on and it needed painting. I also upgraded the track tensioners and replaced some of the flimsy plastic parts to metal. I tried to copy Michael Wittmanns scheme as best as I could, it was my first time using an airbrush! Also experimented with some rust paint on the exhausts, didn't quite turn out how I'd like but love the texturing.

Mierda

Blackened myself some Jagdpanther tracks (Cold Bluing)

Spent the past weekend blackening my HL Jagdpanther’s Tracks, idler and Sprocket. Being made from die-cast Zinc. they are susceptible to cold blue treatment turning dark rather quickly. Quite happy with the result as it looks quite natural and in a way was less of a hassle to do than painting.

Ofcourse next step is to put them back on and send the destroyer outside to get them roughed up.

Exact process I followed.

  1. Cleaned the metal parts with dilutted Green soap, scrubbing with a brass brush until no residue from past adventures remained. Afterwards rinsing thoroughly with water.
  2. Dragged the parts through a small tub with Isopropyl Alcohol and again applied the brash brush thoroughly. Trying to get the parts as free from any contaminants as possible.
  3. Dragged the parts through another small tub with a little bit of Birchwood Super Blue (used in total about 120ml of the stuff). The parts turned black in seconds. I let the chemical do its thing for about a minute before rinsing thoroughly with water.
  4. Finally treated the parts with WD40. Which helps protect the coating itself, keeps the pins rotating freely and keeps it from turning very dull.

Between every major step I ensured the parts were completely dry. Since the Blueing agent is highly caustic I also did everything outside and wore nitrile gloves during the entire process. Always practice personal safety when dealing with chemicals!

(first image shows final result, second shows them mid-process)

Aufkl panther?

1980s mitsuwa Tooned M1 abrams

Found this little guy at a yard sale for a fiver and couldn't just abandon him. Needs a better paint job but maybe if I keep it hydrated and we'll fed it'll grow up big and strong.
