I've been trying to find an easy way to import and organise spoken word clips for use in the tracks I'm making (something along the lines of Public Service Broadcasting), but I couldn't find a single app which did everything in one place.
I've vibe coded a workshop app for audio clips. I selected a bunch of reels on Facebook and created a playlist, and then used Claude to help me extract the URLs into a list.
The app then retrieves all of the clips, takes the audio and transcribes it. Each clip is summarised in the pane on the left. You'll see there's also a "meaning" tab. Select this and type in something like "religion" and it will display all clips with religion as a theme (it uses AI sentiment analysis to create a database for this).
It can also do a similar thing with reels from YouTube (and presumably Insta and TikTok - I just haven't tried those yet).
You can then select parts of the audio waveform for each clip (either using the words it has transcribed, or just selecting the waveform directly), and export them to a wav file, which you can then import into Kong or Mimic (or anything else). It generates a sensible name for the wav file from the clip.
It also normalises the amplitude of the clip, and applies some noise reduction.
There's a bunch of other features: some effects, zero-crossing detection for preventing clicks and pops, and an experimental bpm detection feature so you can map the transients of the spoken word to a specific tempo, with a visual guide (who knew that Desmond Tutu and Neil Kinnock both speak in a way which aligns almost exactly with 120bpm?).
It also has the facility to correct the transcripts directly from the UI.
At the moment, it all runs locally (except for the sentiment analysis, which Claude handles when requested in the cloud, and downloads the database), and the UI is a local HTML file, with some python in the background doing all the processing. I'm working on a collaborative version which lets you put the clips and the databases on a cloud drive somewhere, and work on stuff with colleagues.
If you're interested, let me know, and I'll bung it all on GitHub for your delight and delectation.
I only really use Reason, so if you think this might be of interest to other music makers, please do repost to other subs.
Comments please!
EDITED TO ADD: As one commenter wisely pointed out, any tool like this must still be used in accordance with appropriate copyright law. In my case, I'm using it in compliance with UK Fair Dealing exemptions for research and private study. If I put any code on GitHub, that will likely be under Apache-2.0, but I will not be incorporating any of the sample materials or outputs.
Backstory… I jam with friends with all live instruments, some midi from time to time. But we record each session.
I record drums audio directly out of a Roland TD-17kvx. I would like to use the usb midi out and use addictive drums with that.
The problems is there’s no Roland edrum usb/midi profile for Reason.
If I use addictive drums without reason it works perfect. But if I use AD2 within reason it interprets everything terribly. Like my hi-hat foot controller controls the velocity of my kick drum.
I think I need a guide or advice to remap the drum midi profile in reason, or on the drums.
Thoughts?
Had a thought tonight while i was recording, it would be handy as fuck to have a pedal i could use to trigger punch ins for when i'm recording live instruments on my own. Anyone do anything like this? any idea how i would set it up?
i think its the coolest shit ever
Lynx is a player device for the Reason Rack that can generate chord sets, generate chord progressions, and even analyze sections of your song to make musical suggestions for what comes next.
Tackle that hard drive full of four-bar loops with Lynx Song Finisher.

Any thoughts as to whats happening here?
If I adjust any of the parameters, the emojis change as if they are adjusting like the numbers would on the dials. Only happens in Raum, in Reason, and only started happening while on Mac OS. It goes away if I close the plug-in and reopen it, and it doesn't really affect anything other than the text. More so just curious as to what's happening more than anything else
Is there a way to automate random colour change when splitting a clip, in order to visually differentiate the parts on the timeline? Thanks
Just dropped in the Reason Shop!
Ocelot is a polyphonic CV player device for the Reason Rack. That means you can send entire chords at once from one player stack to another, keeping multiple tracks perfectly synced as your song moves together.
It features 8 CV outputs, with both wet and dry versions of each signal. Pass CV straight through untouched, or let Ocelot shape it before sending it on to the next device.

I know a lot of people on here probably own Panorama's as I've always read they are the best for Reason. I have one with a broken USB B port, and ordered replacement USB ports the other day and a soldering gun. Has anybody taken one apart, and is there anything I should look out for when doing this? Also I haven't soldered anything in ages, and the gun I bought was just a fairly cheap kit on Amazon with high ratings.
If I can't replace it, there's somebody selling a M-Audio Axiom Pro 49 near me for only 120 that I might just pick up, since I read it's easy to integrate with Reason. Thanks
I switched to Mac from PC a few months back, and I was able to transfer over almost every one of the plug-ins that I utilize in my workflow. The only one I was unable to get to come over was UnderWater by Thanatan. It's available on Mac, but only on Intel chips, not silicone M chips. I'm aware that this plug-in was essentially just a low pass filter with a bit crusher, but it was so convenient and worked exactly the way I needed it to work. I was wondering if there was anyone in the community that had a free RE or silicone Mac compatible free plug-in version of a plug-in that does something similar that would be compatible with reason.
For now, I am just using a low pass filter, but it's not giving me quite the same effect without immense tweaking.
Thanks in advance!
Heres a link to the plugin for reference:

Ended up having AI make me a script to move the playhead position with the middle mouse button
I wish the bar were much taller, or that the 'zoom feature' could be disabled
So now the deck hunts for them. Select the device, the controls are already sitting there.
Which device do you lose the most time in? Mine is Europa.
If it ain't Reason? It's treason. Not really. Sounds good tho...
Not anywhere near done lol I just started working on this track today. The video starts about halfway through the intro so I didn't upload another 3 minute video again that takes forever to watch/listen to.
I definitely like how iZotope Nectar 4 Exciter got that screechy thingawub sounding now.
