RemotePlay Frustrations and Next Steps..

I've been a long time supporter of using my PS5 from different rooms in my house when it's not being used by someone else or using it when I am out and about. It's honestly pissing me off that this issue isn't being taken seriously by Sony as it's been a couple of months with no updates from Sony or news.

Its obvious that their AI support team was created to keep their support/engineering team insulated from all the request but what's the point when AI only prattles off the same old crap (Reinstall, firewall, Graphic updates, etc). Getting a support agent isn't much better either as I have had a few leave the chat once I have started going into detail.

We pay a lot of money for this shit. As much as I love the support from the community (Chikai-NG, PXPlay, and even the guy who created the 8.5.0 patch), we should not feel comfortable with third party solutions that interface with devices that have our credit cards attached.

I can only assume one of two things:

  • Sony doesn't know
  • Sony is quietly removing PS Remote Play support to push us to purchase the PS Portal

We need to make more noise about this shit somehow. If we cannot get through support, maybe we should try to actively post on other PlayStation reddits or even see if Playstation "Youtubers" would cover this issue/story. I just don't feel like we should be shafted like this for a feature we have been using for a long time...

PS Remote Play issues

Unsure what exactly is going on, it'll start the stream to my PS5 (in another room, same wifi, etc) and then completely close itself within a few seconds after connecting. No error message, no nothing- the entire program will just shut itself off. Re-opening and trying again doesn't do anything different.
It was working fine around the holidays- I was replaying through Cyberpunk 2077 and had no issues.

I've heard about the newer update bricking the service but that was 2 months ago and it works fine from my phone, works fine for other friends.

I've learned to largely ignore PS Support, but hoping to get some assistance.

Is there a way for me to connect to remote play without a number?

I got robbed a couple of days ago, and they stole my PS5. I have to use my PS4 now, but I forgot where I last put my PS4 controller, so I can’t get into my PS4. I do have another controller, but it doesn’t seem to work with my PS4 even though it connects to my laptop. If there’s any way to get a PS4 number or any help at all, please let me know. Anything helps.

Issue with Touchpad button when using Remote Play on Sony TV

I’m trying to use Remote Play on my tv, but for some reason, whenever I need to press the Touchpad button, it keeps connecting directly to the TV’s functions as shown in the picture. Every other button directly connects to the PS5, so I’m wondering if there is a way to adjust the system so that the Touchpad button actually connects to the PS5 instead of the TV itself.

Bluetooth Audio Haptics and Audio Outputs are coming to Android and Android TV!

So I've been sitting on this for a while and figured it's time to actually show people what I've been building. It's a Chiaki fork called Senshi. It features for the first time ever, Native Audio Haptics over Bluetooth in Remote Play on Android alongside Headphone jack detection and audio playback.

Features:

  • Controller Color Detection and Theming(planning on supporting every single color)
  • Native Bluetooth Haptics
  • Native Bluetooth Triggers
  • Bluetooth Headphone jack Audio with detection and volume control
  • Six-axis Gyro
  • PSN API Game Data Fetching(Last played games, trophies, playtime etc.)
  • Custom bitrate and codec Selection

Also got rid of the Python script requirement for Account ID setup you just paste your NPSSO and the app figures out the rest.

The backend side of things for the controller functionality is done but I need someone to help me around with the UI. I have the mockups and the vision, just need someone who can implement it properly in Jetpack Compose. You'd get full access to the app. DM me if that's you.

I will launch the app soon on Github in the coming weeks after sorting some things up, one of a major one being the UI.

The app will be open sourced later on Github for now I want to get it more properly baked before I do so with plans to add:

  • VR2 Sense Controllers support
  • Mic support might be added later if found possible in Android 16 and higher only
  • Upscaling and Streaming Features in general
  • Possibly Cloud Streaming PS3,PS4

I also have to thank u/sdoregor for pointing me in the right direction in smoothening some things out for a proper experience!

Chiaki not connecting over internet

Got some great suggestions here a couple months ago to move to Chiaki instead of using the official app. I had to jump through some hoops to get it up and running. Had to bring the PS5 physically to my office to get the PIN all set up, but it was working great.

Had not logged in for a couple of weeks until I tried last night. No consoles showed up as an option. I chose the Refresh PSN Hosts and provided the link and it does show up now.

Now when I try to connect, it tries to connect Via Internet and then times out.

Suggestions? Do I need to bring the PS5 in again to get a new PIN?

I was able to play remotely last night at home using Chiaki on my SteamDeck, but that is connected on a local network.

Remote play options

Hey everybody,

I’ve been a staunch PS console player for years but increasingly would love to play some games on my commute.

I’ve been looking at the PS portal but nervous about having to leave my PS on at home to play away, the NS2 (as it could be fun to open up the old Nintendo cafe life) and the steam deck (I play NO PC games so literally don’t know if this would work for PS games)

What remote play has changed the game for you? What should I go for??

Why can't I steam my games?

Was trying to stream Phasmophobia from my PS5 using Remote Play but this keeps popping up? I've had no issues in the past and could play games just fine. Now it's not letting me play! What can I do? :(

Remote Play Has Been Down for Months

The Desktop app does not work and hasn't worked since the last update which I believe was sometime in February. The interface loads but then the app crashes every time I try connecting to my console. Such a bummer.

Some people said they had success by downloading a previous version but that method did not work for me. I'm posting here in hopes that someone at Playstation checks this sub and can maybe escalate the issue for a fix.

If anyone here is having the same problem let me know if you have found a fix.

Can't use keyboard

Hi. In the past, I used to be able to use the arrows and keys on my laptop to play games.

Now, I'm forced to plug my PS5 control into my laptop.

Did they change the way remote play works? Or did I do something in my settings?
