P5M (free app) got a nice update, stream your PS5 games with fancy haptics

A new version of P5M is out, and the big one is haptics.

Your DualSense now gets the game's real haptic track over Bluetooth, the same way it does on a PS5, instead of two plain rumble motors. You feel the texture of footsteps, rain, and recoil, not just a buzz.

Also new:

  • Resizing the window no longer crashes the app
  • The menus work with the DualSense (D-pad, Cross, Circle)
  • Ending a session no longer opens a second P5M window
  • Synthetic 3D now works with sharpening, and it's lighter on the headset
  • A new automatic sharpening option, using the headset's own filter
  • The controller recovers cleanly if it disconnects mid game

I got PS5 Remote Play running as an decent VR screen on the Quest 3, and its finally good enough to share - BETA and FREE

I've been messing with this for a couple months and it finally got to the point where its not embarrassing to show people. I'll be able to play GTA VI gloriously in November lol

Short version: its a PS5 Remote Play client for the Quest 3, but instead of the usual flat window hanging in front of you, the video goes straight into the OS compositor and gets drawn as a real curved screen in your room. Passthrough stays on by default so you can still see your surroundings. You can move the screen, resize it, bend it, all without leaving the game.

Panel runs at 120hz for a 60fps source, which is an exact multiple, so every console frame gets exactly two panel frames and (almost) nothing stutters from bad math.

The wierd bonus feature: theres a mode that guesses depth from the flat image and builds a second eye out of it. Fake 3D, basically. Its a guess and you can tell if you go looking for it, but the depth is real enough that going back to flat feels off. Works way better than I expected on third person games, falls apart on 2D stuff and fixed camera angles.

Its free and the source is open. i'm not selling anything, theres no account, no telemetry, nothing phones home. I put everything in a post on my patreon because thats where I write about it, and the GIT download and the source are linked from there:

Fair warning its a beta! Frame pacing wobbles sometimes and I still dont know why. The 3D warms the headset up faster. Quest Touch controllers do nothing so you definitly need a real gamepad.
Pair your controller to the HEADSET, not to the console. A DualSense paired to your PS5 is invisible to the Quest so the app gets no input at all and just looks broken.

Its built on chiaki-ng, which is the open source Remote Play client that does all the actual talking to the console. I didnt rewrite any of that and I wouldnt want to. The VR half is mine WITH SOME HELP FROM CLAUDE.

Happy to answer anything. If you try it and it breaks, there's a report button in the app that packs up what's wrong and opens a pre filled issue, that helps me way more than a vague comment.

Sorry for my crooked english, i'm from brazil
