What in the world is this?

I don’t usually use cloud game as all the games I play are bought/downloaded. But, my little girl wanted to play something so I let her via cloud and this weird cursor like thing is smack in the middle of the screen… how do you get rid of it? Doesn’t seem to bother me but it’s oddly frustrating me 😅

I lost my duo yesterday

I'm writing this with a heavy heart. Yesterday, my long-time gaming friend online know as KSI Abolic passed away. We go back about 15 years, having met on Xbox Live when we were just 15 or 16 years old.

We grew up together through our headsets, meeting on Halo Reach custom lobbys and enjoying the company of Halo 3s Sniper v Mongoose chase maps. We played everything under the sun, loved Halo, Red Dead 1 and some toxic trolling on Halo Wars 1 and 2, and an isanse 10 year Minecraft world. But one of my favorite early memories was loading into Battlefield 3, especially on Firestorm where whenever he took the pilot's seat of the transport heli, he designated his call sign as "Burger King" throughout the match, i had to refer to him as Burger King to get transport from those two annoying hills snipers would sit on. So that we could drop c4s. As the years went on, our gaming evolved into an annual tradition: every year around Halloween, we couldn't wait for the new Dark Pictures co-op game to release so we could play through the horror games together. This year, Directive 8020 hits hard.

The universe worked in crazy ways for us too. When I was around 25, I ended up working with his girlfriend. I used that connection to pull off a massive surprise road trip so we could finally link up and meet in person. I brought my xbox and everything to keep our streaks and gaming sessions alive. Going from teenage squeakers in a lobby to real friendship duos hanging out after a decade is something I’ll always cherish.

It’s incredibly heavy knowing I won't see his gamertag light up anymore. Lobbies are going to be empty without you. Safe flying, Burger King. Until we drop into the same match again, rest in peace. GG, my friend.

Please cherish who you meet and take every game or moment as the last. You truly never know what could happen.

I compiled some of my controllers by release time. Its interesting to see the differences over the years. (2013-2026)

I hope reddit doesn't apply too much compression. I did my best to upload at a high resolution so that text stays readable.

I don’t want the Helix to be a PC

Hello everyone, basically what the title says. I think the Helix being able to play PC games supposedly and all is really cool, however if they are just going to make it a $1000 PC with a disc drive I won’t be buying it. Instead, I would rather them build a $500-600 console with a disc drive, free multiplayer, and all the other things people requested at the cost that it would be more like a traditional console.
I know not everyone thinks the way I do and that is fine, but for me I would rather have a console than a much more expensive PC that can run my steam games :?
Is this weird to think?

I really hope the rumors that multiplayer will be free for all are true.

In an age where everything is way too expensive, having to pay for the privilege of playing online doesn’t make sense anymore. What a subscription service in gaming represents has evolved so much from what it originally was nearly 25 years ago, when XBOX Live first launched. Now a subscription service more so represents access to more games without having to pay for them, rather than simply being for online gaming. Having to pay to play online, in my opinion, is an outdated idea. It is also absurd the idea of paying for a game but not having access to all of its features. When you pay for a game, even though it’s technically a license, you should own every bit of it, regardless. Multiplayer should always be free.

[Giveaway] Chroma Zero (ffo: Outer Wilds, Antichamber, thinky games)

edit: TRAILER is broke :(

new URL ---> https://youtu.be/QrNir5BM_EY

Hi! I'm ekorz, developer of a puzzle/adventure metroidbrainia (not 'vania!) called Chroma Zero. Today it's out for Series X|S!

It's about exploring a colorful and fragile world, with secrets hidden in plain sight. Exploration leads to knowledge. Knowledge unlocks progress. Progress reveals cat(s). Cat(s) petting leads to happiness, of course. I was inspired by games like Outer Wilds, Antichamber, and Riven.

Some accolades:
-Finalist - Most Innovative Game 2025 - Thinky Awards
-95%+ positive ratings on the Steam version
-Alex Beachum (Outer Wilds) has said some kind things about it and gave me a nice quote for the trailer :)

Since I'm a solo developer who does his own marketing, I thought doing a giveaway here on r/xbox would be fun. I'll be doing the drawing with redditraffler 48 hours from when this post goes live.

There are 10 Keys available to those who have an account age of 7 days or more, and total karma of 30 or more.

All you have to do to enter is comment on this post with your favorite first-person puzzle game that you played on Xbox :)

Anyone else really hate that they removed the “new to gamepass” section… like why?

I haven’t been able to find a way to view the new games to Gamepass yet… maybe I’m just an idiot?

Which games feel the most "next gen" on the Xbox Series X?

As the title says I'm wondering what games everyone thinks feel the most "next gen" on the Series X. A few that come to mind that I've enjoyed:

  • Kingdom Come Deliverence II
  • Baldur's Gate III
  • Assassin's Creed Shadows (visually)

What other should I add to my list that really feel "next gen"?

[Pre-Official] Free Play Days – Warhammer Takeover including at least: Battlesector, Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, Inquisitor - Martyr Ultimate Edition

Hi,

As I explained months ago here, I've been having fun revealing the Free Play Days games of the week before the official Xbox Wire blog for quite some time now.

I'm searching the games by myself to allow players to enjoy it earlier and therefore for longer (sometimes up to 16 hours before the Xbox Wire post).

Also, I usually try to make a picture cover close to the official one to share the info 🙃.

Note : Free Play Days event usually ends on Mondays at 7 PM UTC. Usually, Part of the games can be played starting on Wednesdays at 11 PM UTC.

Following my investigations for this week, and on the occasion of the Warhammer Skulls video games festival which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, here's what I've been able to identify.

From now until Monday, May 25th around 7 PM UTC :

It goes without saying that additional Warhammer games will be revealed during the official Xbox announcement later today, since it is difficult to find all the games that will be selected (especially since games that are playable without any subscription required are harder to spot).

Enjoy!

Just got my FH6 controller and noticed something interesting

Seems like Xbox is removing the expansion port from the controller from now on. I haven’t used it in a decade so I’m not surprised. I just didn’t expect them to do it this generation. The other controller for comparison is my Starfield controller from when that game released In 2023. Did this already happen on any previous model? Google wasn’t of any help.

Do the new controllers no longer have the proprietary Xbox headphone jack?

I have hearing problems; I only hear in one ear, and for comfort, I've found the Xbox headset to be the best and least expensive. A friend told me that the Forza 6 Limited controller no longer has the jack to work with those headphones.

Is this a new feature, or is it unique to this model?

Pre-install is a godsend

I just bought a big lot of games off eBay and quite a few of them were so damaged they couldn’t install. Thankfully the Xbox app has a feature to pre install the games to my console, so now I can play them!
