Reolink is forcing users to buy their HUB to unlock basic features

I contacted Reolink support about FTP functionality, and the answer I got was honestly shocking.

Basically:

- If you use their cloud service - everything works fine, no extra hardware needed
- If you want to use your own FTP server - suddenly you must buy a Reolink Home Hub or NVR

So let me get this straight…

You can upload footage to THEIR cloud directly from the battery camera without any hub,
but if you want to use your OWN storage (FTP/NAS), you are forced to buy extra hardware?

Support literally confirmed this in email.

This has nothing to do with battery saving or technical limitations - I even run the camera with a solar panel, so power is not an issue at all.

It feels like a clear artificial limitation designed to push users into either:

- paying for their cloud subscription
- or buying unnecessary extra hardware (the Hub)

Honestly, this is disappointing. It looks less like a technical decision and more like a money-driven ecosystem lock.

I used to like Reolink, but this really changed my view.

If any Reolink support staff reads this, feel free to clarify how this makes sense from a user perspective. Because right now it looks like a forced ecosystem money gathering lock rather than a technical limitation.

Doorbell not powering on?

I have two brand new Doorbell WiFi units. I assumed that these are true PoE, so I ran a CAT6 cable to each doorbell location. When it didn’t power on at the doorbell location, I plugged it directly into the Reolink NVR. No go. Then, into my PoE switch. No go. I hooked up the internal power brick and it turns on immediately. Do I have to use the brick to power these things? Are they not PoE capable on their own? I’ll be bummed if I can’t use them. Thanks.

Issue with Reolink device

Hi everyone!

Today i noticed from the app, that my recorder "RLN8-410", no longer recognized the storage, as if it didn'exist.

In order to resolve the problem, i restarted the recorder from the button in the back, but when I turned it on I l've got a simple screen that said "Reolink" and then a black screen.

I changed the VGA into an HDMI, but nothing (but i don't think it's a video issue)

Can someone help me? Thank you in advance and sorry for the bad english

Brick mounting options

I’m just a girl that doesn’t want to drill into brick. Is there any option to mount the doorbell camera without having to drill?

Best for bird watching

I want to set up something to allow my wife to watch all the critters she feeds out front. The target zone is from 3' to 65 ' from the house and about 25' wide . I was thinking about a dual lens models. Would a rotatable camera be over kill? I expect that it will focus on the movement and at times there be movement all over the place. I want to make this as simple as I can for the wife as she will be watching her own dedicated monitor.
