Reolink Doorbel

Reolink has been a terrible experience for me

So i got these new omvi v3 and so far they seem to have decent picture but the app is useless. Unsure what im doing wrong here but one never shows up, the others never send notifications. When I look for events, the app ALWAYS freezes, it keeps alerting on my cars in the driveway. I've had better experiences with wireless eufy and even arlo.

its running on nvr with 2x top tier 10tb hdds all poe

How to make reolink more secure?

I bought this for $300 including tax at sams club and wondering how to make it more secure? Like a VPN to tunnel in and won't connect to internet.

The reason I asked is because we used ring before and someone hacked and talked in our camera at night which is terrifying. So I bought this nvr system but wanted to enhance it's security.

Thank you!

Installation of POE system…

I’m having a difficult time figuring out who to contact to install my POE system. I understand it’s fairly straight forward, but I don’t have the time or knowledge to do so on my own. I also don’t want to get ripped off… haha.
What kind of person do I contact to do this for me? A general handy man…? Electrician? I know nothing about this, as you can probably tell. 😆
Also, I believe I need a much longer cord (than what was provided by Reolink) that connects the box to my router. Any recommendations?

RLC-823S2 Timelapse not saving. Any fix that doesn't require formatting?

Hey everyone,

I’m having a recurring issue with my Reolink RLC-823S2 camera, and I’m hoping someone here has found a permanent workaround.

Twice in the last 6 months, the camera has completely stopped capturing and saving timelapses. When I check on it, the app says it is "generating a timelapse," but it never actually saves the file.

Here are the details:

Storage: I am using a 256GB SD card. As you can see in the attached device info screenshot, storage is definitely not the issue—only about 11.82GB out of 238.26GB is being used.

History: The first time this happened, Reolink support told me to format the SD card. While formatting did technically fix the problem, I lost all of my saved videos.

The Problem: It has now been exactly 3 months since that format, and the exact same bug is happening again.

I really don't want to get stuck in a loop of formatting my card every 90 days and wiping my data.

Has anyone else experienced this with the RLC-823S2 or similar models? Is there a known fix to jumpstart the timelapse feature again without doing a full format?

Device Info:

Model: RLC-823S2

Build No: build 25112712

Hardware Ver: IPC_NT2NA48MPSD12

Thanks in advance for any help!

User management on Reolink cams

I set up frigate with a couple Reolink cams. When I went to create a separate user account for frigate, I found that the cameras wouldn't let me create new user accounts. Instead they wanted me to run through a sharing workflow using a QR code and some kind of song and dance.

It turns out recent versions of the Reolink firmware and apps have been removing the user management functionality, which seems like an odd thing to do.

However, I was able to work around this by using the Reolink API on the cameras. Something like this did the trick for me:

> virtualenv .
> source bin/activate
> pip install reolinkapi
> python3
>>> from reolinkapi import Camera
>>> c = Camera('<ip address>', password='<admin_password')
>>> c.login()
>>> c.add_user('<frigate_username>', '<frigate_password>')

Reolink camera integration can't be fixed

I just got a new Reolink Duo Floodlight security camera, and it's wonderful. They did a really great job designing the installation.

But ... the initial integration into HA is having problems. Apparently sometime in the last day the device changed to a new IP address. I can't access it from HA anymore, and I can't remove the device from the Reolink integration ("Error deleting device - Failed to remove device entry, rejected by integration").

I also can't add it as a new device because HA says it's already in the system.

I tried rebooting HA to no effect.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Got it working! Apparently the problem wasn't the dynamic IP address as I thought, but the fact that I had renamed the device within to be "Driveway" rather than "Driveway fluent". Thanks everyone!

Vehicle alerts going crazy on RCL-510A

I have an RCL-510A pointing at the pool in my backyard. I only really care about detecting people at night while I'm out of town. I turned the vehicle detection sensitivity all the way down (you can't see any streets or vehicles from my back yard), but I keep getting vehicle detection alerts. I look at the video thinking it's a person or an animal, but there's nothing on the recording. Other than turning sensitivity all the way down, is there another way to turn off vehicle detection?

Home hub pro issues…

Why is it that when you use the home hub pro you lose features as like the outside camera view detection on the trackflex?

Also i have the same image on my overview twice as it sees it as 2 different feeds…

Will this come through app updates or did i buy a 300 dollar hub to make the cameras miss out on basic features?

Wifi or Wired Cameras I need some help

I am in need of some help. I bought a reolink poe doorbell with the intentions of buying an nvr for it to record to. I was also going to install some cameras on the exterior of my house. I bought two of the floodlight elite cameras that are wifi. Is there anyway wifi cameras can record directly to a poe nvr? Is there a reasonable solution?

These are the possible solutions I have so far:

  1. Buy a wifi doorbell and wifi dvr and have a fully wifi camera system.

  2. Run a couple of ethernet drops to put up POE cameras and return the wifi floodlight cameras and replace the flood lights.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Prime day sale best PoE camera deal

I’m have a few of the E1 outdoor pro PoE cameras on my shop and I’m just not happy with how they are performing.

Several issues that I am having with them are:
Open the app to discover they are out of focus, looking somewhere that is not the designated monitor point, one gets stuck and will have no side to side movement unless you spend time moving it back and forth until it comes unstuck. Both of them are constantly sending false notifications of people and vehicles that just are not there. I feel that all of these issues leave me vulnerable to intruders.

I’m looking for a more reliable camera that can move with the object be it a person or vehicle with both pan and tilt. I would also like to figure out a way to make it not notify me when a moth flys by and think it’s a person.

Cameras I’m considering in the current sale and would like feedback on are:

RLC-1240A
RLC-823S1
RLC-823S2
OMVI 3i

Any information you can provide would be awesome.

Please help!

We currently have WYZE cams and I hate them. Looking in to Reolink with the sale. Everything seems so confusing. Which cameras would you suggest with these capabilities? Does anything even exist with everything l'd like?

  1. Wireless
  2. Solar/could do wired but would need to run lines
  3. 2 way audio
  4. Tracking
  5. Video playback
  6. Zoom

We need 3+ cameras and all are in uncovered areas.

I think that's about it. Would love any and all help please!

Push Notifications not working

I have 3 cameras (2 Elite Floodlight Wired and E1 Zoom) set up connected to a Home Hub Pro. I enabled push notifications and tested them in the app; they worked. But even though I see recordings of people, cars, etc., detected and stored correctly, I have gotten 0 notifications to date.

I checked to make sure the app was not under battery optimization, that notifications were allowed etc but nothing.

What am i missing here to get this working, because without notifications it's kind of pointless
