About 7 years ago I bought 11 kits, thinking I'd slowly work through them when I had a free moment, learning as I made them, and never did.
So I spent the last 2 months doing nothing but the kits after work. I know I got things wrong in each kit but it's stuff to improve next time I do one. I used an airbrush for as much as possible.
My hands shake quite a bit so the eyes were painful to do, but still easier than decals I found. Evil evil decals.
Time for a break I think. And figure out where I'm actually going to put these :D
Wondering if anyone knows anything more about this kit's sculptor and the maker "NERV Models" because google has got nothing.
This is a full set of the character Peloquin from Clive Barker's film Nightbreed. I bought it in the 90s and was always afraid to put it together (and end up painting it badly) so it's just been hanging out all this time.
Aside from the lighting I use for painting, I don't have special lighting. It's a challenge to get good and consistent photos especially with dark paint colors.
I have decided I finally want to try painting and assembling these kits I got a while ago. They will be my testing ground before I paint my grail kit (recast because I looked for years for the original with no luck) and I was wondering what the best way of going about this was.
I see a lot of people use air brushing but I was also directed to look at a blog from mfc that uses diluted acrylic paints and brushed to paint figures. Which way is better?if I can just use acrylic paint what brand is recommended? If airbrush is the gold standard, what should I invest in?
My first kit, I wanted to maybe use waterweld for gap filler as I've had experience with it from classes in art school. Is it too much for something like this though?
Hello! I’m new to resin kits and just 3D printed stuff in general. I just got a new model to put together and wanted custom eye decals for it.
However, I have no idea how to go about this. I would just want to commission someone to make custom eye decals, but, I have no idea where to find people that do that. I also am open to learning how to as I have the materials and printer. But, I have no clue how to go about scale and sizing of them, nor how to get a clean decal of the eyes. Overall, if it’s possible to find someone that can do this for me, please inform me! Any information helps!!
First off, rather than make further posts in the future asking for help with this particular project I may simply ask follow up questions of anyone kind enough to respond here to avoid post clutter.
In what little information I’ve been able to gather I’ve seen sanding mentioned a lot. Is this only to get rid of scaffolding marks (the backs of her ears look real “pimply”) or to abrade the surface for paint to attach to?
Is the 600 grit sandpaper I have good enough or is a different grit better (if so which)?
She is NOT glued together yet. Is it better to paint individual pieces before gluing or after?
Her character has a lot of “bright” colors. Should I put a layer of white as a primer first?
Do I need to sand each layer of paint before adding the next or is the sanding only for the resin?
