Rockford residents — sign this petition opposing data centers in our city

I wanted to share a Change.org petition that’s circulating opposing the development of data centers in Rockford. If you have concerns about how these facilities could impact our community — whether it’s the strain on our power grid, water usage, noise, or the lack of meaningful local jobs — this is a way to make your voice heard.

Data centers are being pitched as economic wins, but they bring massive electricity and water consumption while employing very few people. Rockford deserves development that actually benefits our residents.

Which automatic car washes can handle a 250 or larger pickup truck?

Where in the Stateline area can I take a 250 and 350 pickup for a wash that is automatic?

Vet Recommendations

Hi all it’s me again. I’ll be moving to the Rockford area in a couple weeks and I am looking for a vet for my 2 year old lab. I’d like a vet with evening/weekend hours ideally to try to avoid having to take off work for routine care. I’d also like a vet that does not require you be separated from your dog when they’re doing exams unless absolutely necessary, since she is my service dog so I am a little extra cautious when it comes to being separated from her. Ideally the vet would have experience with working dogs as well but that is not a requirement.

I’m noticing “No Data Centers” signs in places I never thought I’d see them.

Next to Trump/Vance signs in yards, for example. I guess nobody wants these things.

Our elected leaders should get a clue. It’s a bipartisan thing.

Where to live

Hi! Potentially moving to Rockford and seeking advice. I just received a job offer in Rockford- Loves Park specifically and am trying to figure out the best place around to live. I’ve been to the area once during the interview process, but I didn’t have a chance to see too much of the city. Location is a huge factor on if I will accept the offer or not, so I’m trying to get a sense of where I would live.

Non negotiables:

  1. Within 15-20 minutes of Love’s Park (closer is preferable)
  2. Safe enough for light walking around after dark

Preferable:

  1. Easy/close access to dog friendly trails and running paths
  2. Walkable access to things like restaurants and activities
  3. Within 10 minutes of Love’s Park

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Boy’s haircuts

Where in Rockford is a good place for a toddler’s haircut?
Looking for a place good with kids, that does a good job with a decent price.
Bonus if they do men’s hair too.

Employment attorney?

Hi all, I was wondering if there is anyone out here who can recommend an employment attorney in the area who does free consultations. I've seen a lot of firms in my Google searches who do employment law from the employers' side, and I'm looking for someone who focuses on advocacy for the employee.

Any recommendations are welcome. Thank you!

Outdoor Fitness Options

I recently found out when the Alpine Park playground was redone, they added fitness equipment. Brown Park is being voted on now for a similar option. Are there any other places like this in the region I'm not familiar with? With the weather being so nice lately, I'd love to switch the gym for something like this once a week or so.

Searching for Non-Religious men's group

Hi, I am in the Loves Park area. I am looking for a men's support group, specifically one where discussions of childhood trauma and being the victim of domestic violence are okay to share. In my 20's I went to alot of NA meetings for an entirely different sort of struggle, but I've found that it seems like there is a real scarcity of men's groups for anything other than addiction. I respect everybody's beliefs, however I myself am not a religious man and have had negative experiences searching for help down this avenue. If anyone has any information they could share with with me, Id appreciate it very much.

Anyone get one of these yet?

From the city water department. Due to high lead levels in our service line as a result of testing.

Have you had your water tested yet?
