STS concept idea! 🪽

STS concept idea! 🪽

I hope you guys like walk with me here😭, but anyway this came to me after rewatching Emily and Samara's performance in Dream Academy to Wannabe.

I’m thinking something along the lines of a “Valley Girl” / retro California teen concept. So not necessarily strictly ’80s or ’90s, but more like a fictionalized version of that whole California-girl aesthetic. so think like malls, rollerblading, beaches, diners, sleepovers, gossiping with ur friends, hanging out after school, etc.

For the visuals, I’m imagining a mix of neon and pastel colors, big hair, colorful clothes, denim, roller skates, sunglasses, scrunchies, etc. Basically that really exaggerated, “sitcom-like” version of a California teenage girl. I also think they could take inspiration from ’80s/’90s fashion while incorporating some early-2000s elements, so it doesn’t feel like they’re trying to recreate one specific year.

And I think female friendship should be a pretty big part of the concept. like Instead of every MV having to revolve around just romance or the girls being “sexy,” the story could just be about them having fun together. :)

I also think that would also give them a lot of room for fun promotional content. they could have them recreate a sitcom intro, do mall/diner photoshoots, have roller-skating content, make “sleepover” videos, do ’90s/2000s-inspired magazine shoots, etc.

thoughts about saint satine's concept

with the uncertainty around saint satine's debut (3 or 4 members? has debut been pushed back to 2027?), i thought it'd be interesting to see what the group has put out so far, and where i think their concept will expand from. this is kind of a long post with a summary on sts' journey until now and an overall concept prediction.

a) 2025 - prelude intro film: emily, samara, and lexie film this around the world (emily in america, samara in brazil, lexie in sweden). this cements their status as a "global girl group," showing their intention to promote across the world (like katseye). this was the first sign of a prelude/saint satine concept; it's very natural (doesn't rely on visual effects or crazy editing). it also showcases each member's role in the group: emily as the dancer, samara the vocalist, and lexie the songwriter, leaving the placeholder fourth member without a distinct role.

b) 2025-2026 - world scout: mainly focused on the contestants vying to be the final piece, but the 2 finale songs showed possible routes the final group could take: “we ride” as a more nostalgic, 90s rnb concept, and “partyb4theparty”, more fun, upbeat pop-rnb. the selection of sakura as the final piece demonstrated two major parts of hxg's vision for sts: first, they wanted a fourth member with a strong image over pure skill set (confident in sakura's growth as well as prelude leading skill-wise for now). second, they chose the "partyb4theparty" concept, meaning they have plans for the final group to make more upbeat music over rnb ("we ride").

c) 2026 - lexie leaving. we still don't know the full circumstances around her departure, but in her statement, lexie referenced that she was "excited by the presented vision" but her and hxg have "different ways of operating". whether this means the vision she was shown for sts was changed or not as debut preparations began remains unclear.

d) now - sts social media activity. it's speculated that justin moran, editor in chief of paper magazine, has been hired as saint satine's creative director, but that is yet to be confirmed. what we do know is that he is working closely with their team as of now, styling the members for red carpet events and social media posts. sts has also posted information on their story on an audition for hxg, leading many to believe the audition is for finding a fourth member for the group.

now where do we go from here? if there is another member joining, i expect her to fill at least some of lexie's role in the group (mainly lead vocals/all-rounder). i also think we'll get a random announcement and no tv show/drawn out process; their best way of moving forward is by immediately introducing her and releasing content to show the new group dynamic.

based on their social media posts as of now, i can see them going for a "clean girl" kind of aesthetic. the combination on digicam-quality and natural-looking photos demonstrates this; these two posts (1 and 2) best show what i mean. the matcha day post as a screenshot of an iphone photo gallery has a "digital diary" aesthetic that would be interesting and unique to build a group from.

some songs i can see them performing with this aesthetic: fame is a gun by addison rae and make you mine by madison beer could lend themselves really well to this style. these songs are upbeat while having a darker edge to them that goes with their current styling. if they turn to more early 2000s sounds, glamorous by fergie would also work well.

the most important factor in my opinion is sts being clearly differentiated from katseye's concept. i think sts' concept will be heavily visual based compared to katseye's performance based concept, with the group's predebut emphasis on social media aesthetics seemingly supporting this. this isn't to say they'll be skipping out on the performance aspect! but i doubt katseye's vibe with wildly sonically different releases that show their versatility will also be applied to sts.

these are my thoughts! if you can't tell i'm extremely excited for sts' debut. i think they have the potential to really strike it big under the right management and creative direction. would love to hear everyone else’s thoughts!

It is likely by the time they debut Sakura will be close to 17 or 17, semi fluent in english, with more training time than she would have gotten w the original debut date, and closer to the other members as friends. Silver lining of all that has happened to this group that I just thought about😊

She has a February birthday so in the time they take to find a new member (if they add one which likely because they need another vocalist), 17 for her is not far away and that is a much better age to debut than 15 or freshly 16, they would only have a minor in the group for 1 year so it would not limit concepts as much either

Samara and (especially) Emily seem to have taken her under their wing in the small interactions we get to see so that will probably help too to make the group feel more cohesive and look less as if they are babysitting

Also even if the age difference is still really big, when everyone gets older it feels less weird imo, like I have coworkers Im friends with in their 30s and Im 22 and that feels normal but I could never imagine having a friend thats 15, so if that makes sense the more they grow up the age difference will feel less and less weird and maybe a delayed debut is a net positive in the end for this group

Is samara and that boy from Santo bravos dating?

I am asking because they seem to be together a lot, yesterday both groups were invited to the LAFC game... Santo bravos where siting on the lower chairs and saint satine were sitting above them except the boy wasn't siting with his group he sat next to samara with saint satine. Also samara posted him the other day at LACON and they seem to take pictures together a lot. I know he is from Brazil so maybe he hangs out more with her because they are from a similar place,i mean I don't know at this point
