Sally Rooney fans: recommend a male author similar in sensibility to our lady, Miss Ronney

As the title suggests, I am looking for author recommendations. I absolutely love Rooney's ability to write from inside characters' heads, and how their internal thoughts affect how they speak, how they act/re-act, and how they feel in their bodies.

Any character-driven, psychogicially true, interesting male writers out there like this?

I prefer warm characters to cold characters; they need to have a sense of interior conflict for me to relate to them.

My favorite Rooney character of all time was Felix. Just throwing that out there.

May she go on to continue writing for a very, very long time!

books with conflict similar to intermezzo's Naomi × Sylvia × Peter

i’m looking for character-driven literary fiction about morally complicated relationships and uncomfortable aspects of the human condition. something similar to the peter, sylvia and naomi situation in intermezzo.

the closest i’ve found so far is bellies by nicola dinan. to give you an idea about the kind of book I am looking for..this book follows two gay men who are deeply in love and in a committed relationship until one of them comes out as a trans woman and begins transitioning. which made their relationship change and it made me think about what exactly we’re loving when we love a person...their body, gender, identity or the person we knew before? and what happens when those things stop lining up?

basically, i want psychologically complex, emotionally intense books that explore love, desire, identity, morality and the uncomfortable parts of being human. books that make me think, “i understand why they did this, but was it actually right?” and leave me uncomfortable.

what books would you recommend?

thank you in advance <3

Normal people from Sally Rooney

What did you think about Sally Rooney's recent book? I'm trying to figure out if I like it or not. It's not my kind of lecture, but found out est to read.
