Is there no way to try out move sets without investing?

I feel like I've bricked the character due to wanting to try out different weapons, and the game doesn't give you rank zero weapons for all the different types. On top of that, you have to spend points to unlock weapon arts, which again can be very good or really terrible. In Monster Hunter, you can't brick your character by trying different weapons.

Nothing feels worse than spending an hour getting mats to try out a weapon only to find out it's not something you are ever going to use again.

Trying to fight off a "quit moment" here due to enjoying the art, and the combat in general, but this might be a deal breaker.

How did you all handle this kind of thing? I'm assuming the folks still here stuck it out or worked around it somehow.

Journey bottle Alphabet.

Does anyone know if the letters in the journey bottle messages actually have any correlation to a proper alphabet or are they just randomly placed there?

Does playing it on PS5 make "sense“ at this point or is PC by far the best, because of the enhanced update?

I own Sanctuary as well as Sacrifice on my PS5 and really want to get into it, but I also heard about the huge enhanced update, as well as the fact that it’s PC only. Is it such a big game changer, that it is recommended to absolutely play on PC or is the vanilla experience just fine?

Struggling to find a spell style I click with, looking for advice especially from Phoenix tail aficionados

I loved the spell abilities in sacrifice and while I had a magic character I hit NG+ on they mainly used black widow and not really any spells. I come back to the game on and off every year and a half or so and the character had already taken me a few returns to even get that far with.

In my last return it looks like I had forgot that arcane magic scales up in cost the the heavier gear you load on, and I had equipped & burnt upgrade mats on some pieces of golem armor and just wasn’t clicking with trying to figure out spell use on NG+.

I also started another character who I wanted to be primarily dex using using guns and whips/daggers but with a little magic, put a lot of levels into Magic and grabbed the phoenix tail, only to realize between the weight of phoenix tail and equip slots I was just trying to do too much.

SO, tldr- started another new character, using phoenix tail and enjoying it though it still has a lot of room to grow. I’m wondering if anyone has good advice on a good offhand wand and spell selection, I like the storm Geist well enough but even found things like lightning storm and flame tower pretty underwhelming though I’ve heard good things before.

Is there some trick to get more damage out of these? Or am I just spoiled by the pretty high bar my heavy paladin & dex/wis polearm master set?

Which wand handles best for base NG before I have cracked magic scaling and the endgame wand? Just looking for any advice/ideas/suggestions from others who have played hybrid int/magic casters. Thanks!

Good farm spots for non-prayer characters?

Hey all just came back to the game, I have a sort of mid game character that is a dex main and I’m trying to get enough end to use a gun offhand while light rolling, and maybe even branching the character out into a bit of magic and strength as I never used a solid Phoenix tail build. Alternatively I might just pick up some more poison weapons and mess around with that but that still requires a lot more points than I currently have.

Anyway investing into prayers for searing light would take wayyyy too many grey pearls. And I can’t take out the crypt keeper with my current steel centipede, even boosting other whips will take a lot of resources. Most convenient place I’ve found so far is two split swordsman right by a rest point in the top right of the mire.

Looking for other suggestions if anyone has any!
