Forbidden princess x guard

Heya! I'm looking for forbidden romance books between a princess and one of her guards/knights. Audiobook is preferred if possible.

Some interests between these two are: age gap (optional); forbidden romance; he is captain of the guard or her personal guard; sad ending (optional); smut; "you touch her, you die"; size difference; she is inexperienced or virginal.

Looking for books with Love Interests that made you go; "Oh, you absolute b*tch!"

Self-explanatory title. I want to get angry.

Think Harrow from Gideon's perspective at the very start of Gideon the Ninth.

Some examples:
The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling (Sci-fi cave-delving horror)
Shadow of the Knife by Jane Fletcher (Crime and mystery set on a medieval-like world populated by only women)
The Last Woman on Earth by Bex Benjamin (Post apocalypse survival)
The Bloodborn Dragon by J.C Rycroft (Low-magic fantasy set in Fantasy-Australia)
Alone by E.J Noyes (Psychological suspense with a bit of mystery. I will keep shilling this book til the day I die!)

In the Lonely Hours

I haven’t seen many talk about this book, but I really loved it. It was well written, and the characters were fully formed and believable.

-disability rep

-older MCS (28 and 39)

-tons of yearning

-asynchronous convo (they use sticky notes…one of my favorite tropes)

-found family

Saving Graces by Ruby Landers 😭

Just finished it, WRECKED ME
Ruby Landers deserves an award for this one.
Originally read it for a BIPOC protagonist (very well done!!), but the character development, story lines, intimacy, and queer/trans rights all blended beautifully while also focusing on very complicated family dynamics

6 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Still hurting after finishing The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden. Need recs that fill the hole it left behind. (Spoilers)

Hey everyone,

I just finished The Safekeep and I am genuinely devastated. Don't get me wrong, the book is absolutely captivating; the atmosphere, the tension, the prose, everything was incredible. But I feel like there’s this massive, aching hole in my heart now and I don't know how to move past it.

I was so deeply invested in Isabel and Eva. That "bubble phase" they had in the middle of the book where they just couldn't stay away from each other? It was pure oxygen. But it felt so fleeting. Even when they were together, it was in secret, with this constant cloud of impending doom and uncertainty hanging over them. Louis was still an obstacle, they were literally counting down the days they had left, and it only lasted a few weeks before the twist happened, the angst hit, and they were torn apart.

By the time we get the final confrontation and they actually choose each other, we only get the tiniest, briefest glimpse into their actual life together. I wanted so badly to see them just exist in their love you know building a life, cuddling, talking, and being domestic without the world ending around them, even if it was just for one full chapter.

I’m desperate for a book that gives me that exact same feeling as The Safekeep. I want something serious, atmospheric, and high-stakes where the two women are completely obsessed with each other and become each other's entire world. But please, I need it to actually check the box of them having more moments together. I want the desperate physical touch, the pillow talk, the caressing, and the soft domesticity in the middle of a serious story, without leaving me feeling this empty at the end.

Ideally looking for femme/femme dynamics, no massive 20+ year age gaps, and a guaranteed happy ending where we actually get to see them enjoy each other.

Has anyone found a cure for this specific post-Safekeep depression? Please help!

Milena McKay just started this on Patreon

If you’re a fan of The Headmistress or Magdalene Nox, this is for you. It’s an AU for The Headmistress, so from Sam’s point of view. Magdalene did not save Dragons, but she does turn up at the new school Sam is teaching at.

Magdalene Nox is my second favorite fictional character (the first is Lee Winter’s Requiem/Natalya), and she could step on me in her Louboutin’s and I’d thank her.

Milena McKay has had a Patreon for several years now. Membership at the lowest level is free. I pay $7 a month for my tier and get access to everything I want. She posts regularly, and you’ll see stories that will never get printed. Covers before they’re released. Chapter by chapter drops or novels, although it’s the first draft of them not the final version. You’ll also get live question and answer sessions, and find out the Easter eggs dropped in the novel.

It is a great way to support an author who is an independent author, and help them keep writing. There are quite a few authors on Patreon including Rawnie Sabor, Anna Burke, Hayley Cass, and Rachel Spangler.

I just need messy and complicated, like real angst, with characters that feel the ugliest things

I just am on the look for books that make me writhe in bed or shed some heart-squeezing tears.

I love the angst, i love when the stories have complicated and sometimes mean to each other chatacters, that feel hate, disgust, jealousy, selfishness, things like that. in situations that are messy, maybe filthy, i want the ugliness.

and not necessarily the worst of the worst in mafis surroundings or devil captor, it will be very welcome, but bully and college settings are also welcome as long as they're MESSY.

I remember what i felt with **Tryst Six Venom and Loathing You, Gideon and Harrow in The Locked Thomb,** i just need them to have this complicated-hateful-but-codependent thing...

pls, im dying for it, give me anything im looking for scraps I NEED TO FEEL SOMETHING

Looking for hot wlw audiobooks

Hi lezfam,

I’ve been in a deeep wlw spicy audiobook binge. I’ve listened to A LOT and have figured out what I love and honestly what I can’t stand, and I need your help for what to pick next. If you’re interested in helping I’ve put way too much background info of what i like/don’t like. Overall: I’m looking for solid stories with femme/femme-ish leads that’s nice and spicy. Honesty, the spicier the better. I do love angst/yearning/jealousy a lot too. Personally, I’m not into butch/femme relationships, I’ve tried but it doesn’t hit the same chords for me bcs I am femme/femme.

Audiobooks I’ve loved
-all by Haley Cass/Lori Prince
- Ruby Roe/Alie Rose, etc.
- almost all of JJ Arias/Kingsley Rose (honestly prob my favorite narrator)
-Ally North audiobooks
-tryst six venom audio
-Ruby Landers/Katherine Littrel (but only ribbonwood, the other books didn’t seem as interesting to me? But open to pushback)

Audiobooks that were “eh”
-Megan O’Brien/Alexandria Wilde - only listened to a few. I love the spice level and story but I don’t love Alexandria’s voice, but don’t hate it.
-Lee Winter/Angela Dawe- this one pains me to say Bcs I really like lee winter’s stories, I just don’t love the narrator. They’re too theatrical/performative for me.
-Meryl wilsner audiobooks- some are ok
-Alexandria Bellefleur - I like these stories a lot but they’re pretty mild spice wise :(
-x ingredient/Anastasia Watley- awesome story, didn’t love the narrator.

Audiobooks I hate/cannot listen to
-anything by abbey craden - this probably will be controversial because she’s an institution, but I really don’t like the theatrical/performative tone and cadence of her voice. To me it makes even the hottest story corny and deeply unsexy to me.

Audiobooks I’m considering next
-Rawnie Sabor- I’m seriously considering this next, but thoughts or recs on which ones? Do I have to start in order?

Have I just gone through most of the audiobooks that I like? That feels impossible to me, but would love any thoughts ❤️

I thought I hated romance

I was a nerdy kid and I used to devour books, started again a few years ago, especially science fiction and fantasy, but I never got invested in the romance part. Read twilight and didn't really feel anything. Watched romantic comedies and I laughed at the jokes but never really cared about the relationship. I never looked down on the genre but I thought it wasn't for me. Couldn't stand spicey content in books either (except that one scene in >!A Desolation Called Peace!<, but I didn't think anything of it).

I realized I was gay somewhere 5-6 years ago, but I mostly continued reading fantasy and sci fi and I avoided the romance genre. I had a realization after reading a random suggestion on the /r/femalegazesff subreddit, Silverglass by J.F. Rivkin (which isn't that sapphic). Maybe it's not me, it's men. So I downloaded Those Who Wait by Haley Cass.

Holy shit it's like everything clicked. I get it now. The tropes, the tension, the spice! I have been converted overnight. Romance went from a different language to plain English. Even if they're not for me, all those romantic works I didn't get before make sense now. I can't stop, please recommend me more.

PS the genre not like, going on a date with someone for real haha, i got that part

Sapphic Audibooks with British narrators

TLDR. Book recs for audio with British and not American narrator required.

Recently listened to Lizzie Huxley-Jones' recent release Reality Check. Really enjoyed it - wasn't overly trope filled. Spicy but fun. Explores one of the main characters being autistic. Switches chapters between characters.

I find it very difficult to sit and read, there's a million other things going on in my head, so audiobooks for now are the vibe.

So,1. where are we getting our audio books from?

And 2. Can anyone recommend books read by a British narrator. The American voices just don't sit right and I find myself zoning out or every word feels jarring.

Reality check has a mild Welsh and a semi posh English accent to cover the Liverpudlian origin of the character. As well as a plethora of minor characters from all over.

Thanks in advance.

Tasteful intimacy

Looking for books with well written sex scenes and tension like The Safekeep. Something tasteful rather than vulgar.

Look, I’m usually not very fond of sex scenes. I usually just read them in haste, skip them if I must. But The Safekeep… The Safekeep!!! I rushed through the scene at first only because I got too excited (lol embarrassing), then went back just to read it carefully and savor it. That scene practically owns me now. I would marry it if it I could 😭

So please… If you have any suggestions 🙏🏻🧎🏻‍♀️
