انا عندي ماستر تعليم اللغة الانجليزية TESOL، ودرجة 7.5 في الآيلتس، وبكالوريوس في اللغة الإنجليزية وآدابها. للاسف ما عندي خبرة الا خبرة تدريب على التدريس في جامعة لمدة ترم.
و ما اقدر ادخل تمهير بسبب العمر.

الفرص الوظيفية شبه منعدمة ما عدا في المدارس الخاصة و رواتبهم حدها ٢٥٠٠ (انا من الغريبة)

فكرت احول مساري لمجال الموارد البشرية (اتوقع فيه فرص اكثر لاني اشوف اعلانات و المجال فيه فروع كثييرة)

ما الشهادة المهنية المناسبة لي كمبتدئ في هذا المجال؟

Why have you not hired me yet? 😭

I've been asking myself this question for a while now. Sending applications into the internet void hasn't exactly been a successful strategy, so I thought I'd try Reddit 💀

Hi, I'm Eman. I'm based in Saudi Arabia, and I'm building an app called Bedal

But before I tell you about the app, let me tell you why I started building it in the first place

If you've spent any time in Jeddah, you've probably seen posts from people looking for friends to meet over coffee. Someone wants a friend to explore the city with. Someone else wants to meet new people but doesn't know where to start. I've noticed these posts appearing every few days, particularly from women and foreigners looking to make connections

It got me thinking: what if there were a better way for people to connect, learn from one another, and build friendships around shared interests?

That question became Bedal

The idea is to turn everyday places into opportunities to learn new skills, share knowledge, and meet people through meaningful activities. Instead of just scrolling past someone looking for a connection, you could discover people who share your interests and learn something from each other along the way

And then, naturally, I decided to build the thing myself. Because apparently having an idea wasn't enough work

Product decisions? Mine

UI/UX? Mine

Flutter frontend? Mine

Figuring out how everything should work together? Also mine

Basically, I became an entire product team without the team.

Would I recommend it? Depends on how much you enjoy talking to your laptop

The funny thing is, Bedal is built and ready, but I haven't been able to launch it yet because of some challenges I'm working through. I'm hoping to get those sorted out, but that's a story for another day

Still, building it has taught me a lot about what it actually takes to turn an idea into a product

Which brings me to something I've been thinking about lately.

If AI can write code, generate interfaces, and help people build apps faster than ever, what exactly makes someone worth hiring?

Tools like Claude Code have made software development more accessible. I'm not going to pretend otherwise. They've made it possible to do things that would have been much harder for an individual working alone

But building Bedal has taught me that writing code is only one part of the process

You have to understand the problem before deciding what to build

You have to think about the person using your product, not just the screen you're designing

You have to decide which features are worth building, how they connect, and what happens when a user does something you didn't anticipate

And you have to recognise when something that works perfectly in your code makes absolutely no sense to the person using it

A button can work exactly as intended and still be in the wrong place. A feature can be technically impressive and still solve a problem nobody has

Sometimes the best product decision is not writing more code. It's realising you don't need that feature at all.

I'm not saying AI can't help with these things. It absolutely can. I just think knowing how to use these tools is different from blindly accepting whatever they produce.

And I'm still learning how to get better at all of it.

Now, after spending so much time building my own product, I'm looking for my first professional opportunity in tech.

I'm interested in Flutter development, UI/UX design, product management, and backend development. I'm particularly interested in opportunities where I can contribute, learn from experienced people, and understand how good teams turn ideas into products people genuinely need.

I'm open to junior positions, internships, and opportunities where potential, curiosity, and a willingness to learn matter.

I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert in every field I've mentioned. I'm not applying to be an entire engineering department. I've already discovered that department has terrible management😅

I want to find where I can contribute the most, develop my skills, and become genuinely good at what I do.

And since this is r/saudiarabiajobs, I'd especially love to hear from people who've started their careers in the Saudi tech industry.

I have two questions:

For those of you who landed your first tech job in Saudi Arabia, what actually made the difference? Was it your portfolio, personal connections, certifications, a particular project, or something else entirely?

And for the founders, recruiters, and hiring managers here: when AI can help candidates build impressive projects, what makes you trust that someone can actually contribute to your team?

I'd genuinely love to hear your experiences.

Maybe this post leads to a job. Maybe someone shares advice that changes how I approach my career. Maybe I meet someone who's working on something interesting.

I'm not entirely sure what will happen, but at least I'm trying something different.
