Camera wont read card

So i have this Canon EOS 600D, but the problem is that its not reading this card, my mom used to use this sd card with her own canon a few years ago and im assuming it worked fine (from what she describes it). Other cards work fine on my camera but this one and some others dont. Its a 64 GB SDXC card, on the front sticker these symbols are written (idk if it matters for this problem but just in case), U1, C10, V10, I (roman numeral) and "nedis", im assuming thats the brand. On my laptop it works perfectly fine but when i insert it in my camera it says "No card in camera". The other card i use: micro sd hc, U1, I, 16GB, "legacy series" and the brand is "Monster digital", i use a micro sd adapter by iconix. This other card works great on my camera. I know that the best fix might be to just buy a new card but if this is fixable, i dont wanna spend more without trying to fix it. Ive already tried formatting it to FAT32 using guiformat, but it didnt work. I cant format it with the camera since it says that no card is inserted. Ive also tried wiping the contacs, locking and unlocking it again but nothing seems to work. If anyone has any ways to fix this i'd appreciate it.

iPhone, MacBook, and IPad not reading SD card footage.

Recently bought a dash cam for my car. First time trying to access the footage, and it won’t play as a video on my laptop, only as audio. And on my phone it won’t even play anything. Any tips on what to do?

Paid $150 for possibly a FAKE 500gb Sandisk MicroSD Card, am I cooked?

Paid close to $150 for this Sandisk MicroSD Card Extreme Pro. With the way prices are going up these days I am not surprised there are more and more fake memorys and hard drives out there. I ran some tests on CrystalDiskMark and H2testw and posted the results. The capacity seems to be correct but the speed is not anywhere near what its adverted. I used a Sabrent USB 3.0 reader to test that is capable of 5Gbps. Also I remember these packages being harder to open and there was a picture of scissors at the top but I easily cut through it like paper with my hand.

What do you guys think is it fake? am I cooked?

SD card lock broken, please help!!

Im begging for help!! Ive had this SD card for my Nintendo 3DS for at least 10 years now. It's been broken for years and I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it in so long. From my research it seems the issue is that the lock on the side has broken off while in the locked position and I can't unlock it.

It has my game info, specifically my Pokémon Bank info. And now that it has been announced that Pokémon Bank will be shutting down next year I've got a time crunch.

I'm desperate to access the info on my card!! Does anyone know what I can do or have any advice?

Sandisk SD Express corrupted after two days? Please help!

I just bought a 512gb Sandisk GamePlay Micro SD Express card for my new Switch 2. I popped it in on Monday, did some transfers and everything was fine. Played a game last night for a few hours, then put the console to sleep and went to bed.

Went to play a game today, and suddenly my Switch says the card is unreadable... I popped the card into my laptop and it won’t read at all. Reading online I’ve learned about some instances of a card becoming corrupted during updates, an eshop bug (?), etc. But I haven’t had the internet in my home since yesterday morning (a line came down and has yet to be repaired). So I haven’t even had a connection, and again everything was working fine last night.

Did my brand new, reputably branded and certainly-not-counterfeit SD card seriously just crap out after two days? And do I go back to the retailer (Walmart, bought online) or do I submit a warranty claim through Sandisk? Luckily I found my packaging in the recycling, but I don’t know how to proceed. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!! 🙏

SD-card appears as writable, accepts GBs of writes with no errors, but every write disappears after power cycle... and overwritten, wiped old data magically returns - very strange behaviour

I have never seen this in my decades of computer use. It is a bit unsettling, because I was trying to wipe personal data, but it kept on magically re-appearing, even after power cycles! Please read if you're interested and let me know if you have a way of explaining this, or have experienced the same.

The device: a 16 GB Samsung SD-card, that has been in my IP-camera for a while (months to >1 year). It had apparantly been recording continually for an unknown amount of time, this wasn't my intention and happened inadvertently. Eventually it stopped. It wasn't entirely full, so I'm not sure if it looped like a dashcam for a long time or whatever happened exactly. In any way, it was full of video files, each the same in duration.

Because it had been recording my house interior unintentionally, I saw myself walking in the house, to and from the shower, etc. You can imagine I wanted to destroy this data in a good way, so I decided to delete it, then fill the SD-card with random data, and then delete that.

This is what I did and how:

Sequence of action:

  1. Insert and mount the SD card
  2. The original CCTV files are present and readable
  3. Delete files and create new files on the SD-card. All operations report success. No errors in the terminal, Dolphin, or `dmesg`
  4. Newly written files can be seen and read normally with `ls`, `cat`, Dolphin file manager
  5. Perform sync and unmount
  6. Physically remove the SD card, wait a bit
  7. Reinsert and mount
  8. The card is back in exactly its old state. Newly created files are gone... and the original, old IP camera files magically re-appeared..!

I repeated this, a few things, but replaced step 3:

  • (Run 1): I wrote multiple 4 GB files with `dd`, until it returned a "disk full" error.
  • (Run 2): with KDE Partition Manager's option to Shred the FAT filesystem. It took a bit over a minute, but it finished and displayed no error messages.
  • (Run 3,4,5): Skipped deleting files, and only wrote a small text file with the exact current date & time and a small test message in it, and reproduced this (view it in Dolphin, KDE's file manager, or by using `cat`).

Performed on 2 setups:

  • (Runs 1,2,3): Fedora 44 KDE desktop, using a USB SD-card reader
  • (Run 4,5): Old laptop booted from a SystemRescue USB stick, using its built-in SD-card reader via a passive microSD-to-SD adapter

SD card data:

  • bought between 2015-2020
  • Samsung Evo microSDHC, model no. MB-MP16D
  • yes, it's old, and it's not meant for 24/7 operation like CCTV

Note:

  • lsblk reported the device as writable (RO=0)
  • kernel reported no write errors, I/O errors, resets, or write-protect condition

The SD card is now physically destroyed.

Really wondering if this is a common thing: a flash device that accepts writes and deletes, even FAT filesystem table shreds, but never writes them; and also reverts to its previous state after power loss? It makes me uncomfortable because this seems to imply there's basically no way of confirming a NAND drive has actually wiped files, unless goes through a power cycle (physically removing and re-inserting) and is actively checked again after..?

Memory Card help

Okay this is going to be a long one. But your help is appreciated.

The issue is with a Lexar Professional 256 GB V90 SDXC Card. I was offloading footage from my camera, a Canon C80, and I went to eject the card when it was finished but by accident I ejected the subfolder that contains the footage, subfolder was titled "Reel_0008". Card was titled "CanonA_0008". Thought it was just an oops and ejected the primary folder of the card and then went and shot more footage on the card today. Went to offload that footage and found that the camera renamed the card "CanonA_0009" and the folder that contains the footage from today is called "Reel_0009". I can see the storage capacity of the card still reflects that the other footage is there, but it's not visible.

I've tried running Disk Utility (on a Mac) and doing first aid on both the card and the subsequent volume inside of the card "CanonA_0009" and the other folder won't come back. I've tried revealing hidden files, I've tried restarting the computer, I've tried renaming the card back to "CanonA_0008" and then ejecting it and plugging it back in and nothing has worked yet.

The footage from the first day is offloaded and on 2 separate drives, so I should be fine, but I just want to ensure that if something goes wrong with my computer before that project is done that I still have the original files.

It seems that the pathway to the files is what's broken, so if someone is smarter than me and knows how to fix that I would appreciate it!

So for some reason when I insert my sd card into my reader it will get detected for like 3 seconds then not anymore and when I insert it into my 3ds it wont get read either. Is there a way to somehow get the data and transfer it into another sd card or is that data now forever gone? Ik it ain't the reader ir the 3ds because when I insert a different sd card it will be read.

Test for SanDisk high endurance?

I just got two high endurance microsd cards from B&H Photo. I’m 3 for 3 in getting counterfeits of this same card from Amazon, so I’m hoping these are legit, direct from B&H, not third party, supposedly.

I’ve used F3 (Mac) to test the capacities of other cards, but I’m assuming there’s no other test I can perform to verify these are real endurance cards. is that all I can do?

SD card reader for iPhone 15 that works directly in photos

Hi everyone!

I used to have a nice SD card reader Ugreen but i currently lost it. Ordered another one online and guess what, it doesn’t read my sd cards at all, the “import” part doesnt even pop up on my photos app.

Can you recommend me another sd card reader that connects directly to apple s photos? I had another one that required another app and it was infuriating that i had to download pictures one by one.

Is this memory card legit? Been giving problems for quite a lot of time

Hey, all. This is my cousin's memory card. He got it around 4 years ago and has always given him problems. It was a gift from a family member but we are unsure where it was bought from and how much it costed. It was cheap, which doesn't make sense. considering it has 512 GB. Also, while trying to transfer data from the console's memory to the card, he repeatedly got errors but somehow still managed to transfer them. However, when trying to play the game, he got another error. Afterwards, he tried to download some found lost data, but got yet another error. After getting the card out of the console, he managed to download the lost data without any errors. We are pretty sure that the Switch isn't defective, and we know that an image isn't enough for you all to verify its reliability, but hopefully the description is enough. Thank you all in advance.

Unable to format SD Card

I have an SD Card that I want to format but when I do it, it says that Windows is unable to do it. Disk Management shows it as healthy. When I delete its content, they reappear after reinserting. I don't know what else to add lol

Any ideas on what's going on and how to format it?

Thank you!
