Dealing with homesickness

I’m a new airman I got to my first duty station a couple weeks ago my afsc is 3PO31 but I was able to go home for like 10 days before coming here but I was already gone for 6 months prior to that which I know isnt anything but the fourth was yesterday and it’s usually my favorite holiday I really didn’t do anything. I think the part that sucks is idk when I’m gonna be able to go home again and it just feels very lonely here rn basically being brand new none of my friends from tech got this base. What advice do you guys have to keep the motivation and deal with being away from home

Is the Ranger Security Academy Worth it?

I’m hoping to get training to get my security guard license, and this site and agency is one of the first places I came across, if anyone in this community has been trained with these guys I’d like to know if it’s worth the money and time

And if not how I would like to know what I should do as a different means of training to obtain my security license

Any USAF 0080s here

Any 0080s here with the AF? I know as the smallest branch, civ 0080s are in lesser numbers but many of them seem to be paybanded in the GS-12-13 range. For those who are AF, do you enjoy the daily duties, support from mngt and security knowledge of those cleared employees you have cognizance over? Ty-

WAPS SKT 25E6 Scores

I’ve noticed my troops past and present scores are dramatically low. Not one of them scored over a 45 on SKT, with a majority scoring under 40. I’ve asked other SNCOs to check their people and the same results. Is there an issue with the test itself or has the pencil whipping of all of our UGT for the last decade has had a negative impact on our knowledge?

Was a Phoenix Raven — AMA about what selection actually demands physically and mentally

There's not a lot of accurate info out there about what Raven selection physically and mentally demands. I went through it and earned the designation. Happy to answer genuine questions about fitness standards, what training looks like day to day, and what actually separates people who make it from people who don't. Drop your questions below.

Phoenix Raven — Full Breakdown of What the Course Actually Demands

Getting a lot of questions about Raven selection so figured I’d do a proper breakdown instead of an AMA.

Here’s what it actually looks like:

PT Standard — You need 90% on the AF PT test to be eligible. But realistically 95%+ is what makes you competitive. Know the difference before you show up. You’ll also need to run 3 miles in under 27 minutes — start building that base early.

Training Structure — Pre-Raven runs Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Heavy calisthenics in the morning with rep ranges going from 50 to 500 of a single movement. Progressive runs building from 3 miles up to 10. Baton training and Verbal Judo in the afternoon — just as physically demanding as the morning.

AMC Bases — You don’t have to be at a hub but it helps. Hub bases get more slots. Let your leadership know you’re interested early regardless of where you’re stationed.

The thing nobody warns you about — it’s not the fitness that breaks people. It’s the mental wall. The combination of physical and mental load running simultaneously hour after hour is what makes this program different.

Happy to answer any specific questions below.”
