Apple iPhones doing 💩 HDR right out of the box and you can’t disable it!
Just noticed how shitty my pic looked shot straight out of the iPhone #nofilter #nomakeup and tried to turn off whatever feature is responsible but… they’ve removed the option to turn it off! Since the iPhone 12.
You really can’t beat the River Lea walk on a crisp afternoon 🦆
The reflections over the canal in Ware looked absolutely unreal here, especially with all the narrowboats lined up along the water. Honestly think the towpath walk between Hertford and Ware has to be one of the nicest stretches in Hertfordshire for a quiet stroll. Trying to find a few more scenic walks around Herts though, especially waterside or woodland ones. Would love some recommendations!
LG 34GX900A HDR/DSC Issue
I recently got this monitor, overall I am very happy with it. I have been trying to use HDR, but windows HDR calibration sucks and only allows me to go to 600 nits on a 1300 peak brightness monitor. I have attempted to use CRU to change this, but because DSR makes the changes in CRU not apply, I was hoping someone had a solution to getting DSC to turn off.
Monitor is 3440x1440@240hz
10bpc
Using HDMI 2.1 on an RTX 3080
Should only be using about 41gbps of the 48gbps bandwidth...
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hdr fix for most monitors
I have Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 32" monitor. If you dont know it has quantumhdr 2000 and it is advertisement stuff, it is hdr 1000. And i tried everything to make hdr look as it should be but everytime there were some flaws. And i didnt want to fiddle every setting one by one bc i think samsung or engineers would set it true or tell us what to do. But the picture was always washed out or dim or not saturated enough. UNTIL TODAY! There is no need for fine tuning or changing contrast or gamma etc. My monitor has amd freesync premium pro and this shitty thing breaks my hdr because it gets the control of hdr settings. In amd adrenaline settings there are 2 switches now. One is for amd freesync premium pro and under that, there is one called "freesync color accuracy". YOU NEED TO TURN IT OFF.
I am giving my settings now (in this monitor you cant change the hdr settings cuz it is already factory calibrated)
Contrast 75, Sharpness 52, Color settings are all default at 50, Gamma 1 (that is 2.2), Contrast Enhancer is off, Local Dimming is High.
In HDR Calibration (you can adjust according to your monitor or to your liking)
First one is all the way to the left bc it is a va panel and can handle the dark spots, second and third one is 1000 even if it says quantumhdr 2000 bc it is hdr 1000 in reality.
Thats all. Im currently playing crimson desert and it is looking fantastic right now. Try and let me know your comments.
Guys ! When HDR is enabled on my lenovo laptop display(OLED), dark or black areas in videos do not appear smooth. Instead, the black regions show visible square patches, block-like patterns, or straight-line boundaries, especially in low-light scenes. The issue becomes noticeable mainly during video playback with HDR ON, while SDR content looks PERFECTLY smoother. The black areas in videos appear patchy and segmented instead of smooth. I can see rectangular blocks and sharp transitions in dark scenes .But the User interfaces in webs/apps that contain blacks are appearing in its true black form (pixels turned off in those areas) , no problem in that it feels smooth . it only happens with movies/videos/games & pics with more black regions .I tried attaching a screenshot , but i could only see that problem with eyes, its not showing on a screenshot . so i took with my mobile with INCREASED FOCUS BRIGHTNESS where my exact problem can be noticed. the transition of these blackest areas is like a minecraft animation sometimes.
(i wonder do all OLED + HDR users experience this ? NO ? am i alone ?)
i tried Microsoft HDR calibration app , but calibration does not solve this particular issue.Rather it only improved my colour appearances.(it was gpt's idea tho) .
Also my drivers/softwares were all up to date.i bought the laptop just 1 month back. found this issue while exploring the HDR feature.
pls help me with any sort of knowledge/solution/opinion u have regarding this issue.
