9.99 Handling Fee

Listen I know we've been over this. I know there is no changing it, I know this is just me screaming into the void. But, a ten dollar handling fee for a belt is genuinely insane. Who added that fee with a straight face?

Customer Service/ Shipping Request Issues

Has anyone noticed if specific ShopGoodWill units are literally crap at following packaging requests such as no tape on wood finishes? Some seem to be able to get it right and do excellent work, but others seem to have a go kick rocks attitude and put 2-3X times as much tape around something that is totally unnecessary and the CS response is mediocre at best. You are left with an item that is in much worse condition than the pics and you really don't have any recourse. At least on eBay there is an arbitration process.

Info

Reached out to see if they could cancel or give the item to the next person but all I got was this. This is my first time and don’t really order a lot. Would I say I would be fine to just not pay it and after 6 months it goes away and im back at zero but just be careful or should I just pay it and deal with it?

List of stores to avoid and list of good stores to bid from?

I’ve been searching for this and I haven’t been able to find in the feed.

So far I’ve had good experiences nothing out of the ordinary or what I was expecting from most stores. However, I have had some issues.

For example, Ohio Valley I will never bid from again. They sent me an item that was either not as pictured or damaged during shipping and wouldn’t respond to me for weeks so I had to open a claim with my bank.

It’s been coming on 3 weeks with an item that still hasn’t shipped from Columbia Willamette and I will not be buying anything from them again either and opening another claim with my bank on Monday. I’ve reached out to them via phone and sent them messages through the customer service portal… nothing.

I had an item that had some issues that were not photographed from Wellsboro NCPA and they responded immediately and sent me a label to return for a refund so I don’t mind using them again because I know if I had an issue again in the future I wouldn’t have issues getting my money back.

Anyone have similar stories to share with new time shoppers so we can create a list? Thanks in advance :)

Do Not Recommend List Summary:

Any Kentucky stores
Columbia Willamette
Ohio Valley
Chicago/Milwaukee
Houston
Georgia
Orlando
South Central Wisconsin
Orange County
Southern Indiana Indianapolis
Southern Ohio
San Diego

Shipping price change after auction ends

Anyone ever notice, especially with West Coast GWs, the price of shipping go higher after the auction ends? They already charge insane prices on shipping but I swear the price jumped by $20 after it ended. I keep an Excel sheet with all my bids and shipping prices, so I can easily factor the shipping cost into the item, and I have a discrepancy of $20 from what I wrote to what they are now charging.

Just found my favorite new indie artist!

Arstist: @ChillerTribeMosy

He writes, sings, produces, and engineers his own music. From what I can tell, he's been doing it for over 12 years now and when I found him, it felt like seeing someone about to blow up in real time. Dudes got massively wide range, spanning from soul to Folk, electronic, funk, R&B and rap, to indie alternative. Litterally listened to them all day and I swear to God hes got nothing but hits. Check him out, I know hes starting to up his social media presence more, and im doing my part to show support. Dude made me a believer(or more appropriately, a Chiller) feels dope to be apart of the "Tribe", help me get this guy the love and support he deserves.

Sorry… ew! Just ew!

I understand dental gold is big business and is frequently sold, but the bottom line is this came out of someone’s mouth who is very possibly deceased! I mean they can’t sell it locally? They put it on the app?

Seriously, what?

I'm looking for a very specific pair of vintage fishing waders, the same ones my dad had when he taught me how to cast.

I have searches saved on multiple auction sites.

This made me laugh.

Fitting Rooms

In my area, Goodwill never re-opened the fitting rooms after Co✅iD. I don’t shop there anymore bc of this. I travel a lot though, so I go to GW’s in other big city’s. I think they JUST started accepting returns within a timeframe. But, up until recently, they didn’t even take returns. My teen loves shopping at GW…..I wish they had fitting rooms. The other day we went by to see if they had opened them yet, I saw 2 different ladies trying on clothing in the aisles. Not over their clothes….undressing and trying on clothing. 😬🫠🤣🤣🤣

COAs??

So I’m not on SGW looking for purses, but every day or two I do an advanced search for only items at the location near my house, because shipping on this site is outrageous.

I notice that every lower level designer purse - examples Coach, Michael Kors, Kate Spade - says they come with a COA. How?? I’ve bought directly from these websites (on clearance, mind you lol) and my bags don’t have COAs?

And we aren’t talking crazy money bags like Gucci or LV. Just your run of the mill “cheaper” designer bags that can be found for under $100 brand new if your timing is right.

EDIT: typo

Don't Shop at Goodwill Online or Inside

Listen up audio enthusiasts. Don’t ever shop for any audio equipment no matter how tempting it is at shopgoodwill.com. Every single item they sell is absolutely broken. Their prices are over bid by people who have no idea what they’re doing. Whenever you get what you purchase, there is a 99% chance that it is broken beyond any repair level. Why do you think it’s there in the first place? Maybe 1 out of 20 times you’ll get something that works, but in general you’re overpaying for a piece of absolute junk. If you want vintage equipment, go to a vintage audio store where you can test the equipment and have some type of conversation and possibly even a warranty.

Stop over paying for junk!!!!

You can try shopping at eBay or Facebook marketplace but again there’s risk. Of the equipment I purchased at Goodwill online only 4 pieces out of 20 actually worked. The other 16 were completely broken and the only thing I could do with them is use them as parts. I think it’s very important that we get the word out that Goodwill has become basically an overpriced profit oriented business that has missed the mark on helping communities rather than abusing their employees and cheating buyers.

All I can tell you is if you purchased from shopgoodwill.com you’re wasting your money and you’re gonna be highly disappointed.

Stop the madness of overpriced 40-year-old equipment.

Let's start a campaign against the theft that Goodwill is doing.

Thank you for reading and commenting if you'd like.

Another shipping failure

My husband was soooo excited about winning a Ducks Unlimited chess set. It was beautiful. It has ducks, bird houses and black and yellow labs. He paid well over $150 for it. It came in today without a single piece being wrapped or protected. There were loose screws in the box and about 75% of the pieces were broken or chipped. As much as we (the consumers) are asked to pay for shipping plus handling, a little bubble wrap would have gone a long way. He’s requesting a full refund, let’s hope they issue one.

Why doesn't it show you the actual price/minimum bid?

I've bid on a few items where the current price/minimum bid is wrong b/c there's a higher bid. For example, it'll show me $25 as the current minimum bid, but if I put in like $26, it says I'm outbid.

Why doesn't it just show you the highest bid so you can see what it is and bid accordingly? Instead of just letting me put it in a bunch of bids if I'm going to be outbid anyway

Question about bidding

Guys I bid the last minute but goodwill sent me that I was outbid but I was not, the guy bid like a couple minutes ago form me and we bid the same amount but I was still first so it's not making sense to me unless I did lose the bid because goodwill didn't send me a following email either which I mean whatever but I still really wanted that item! 🥲😭

For cutting fabric (or hair!) blade tension is important as is the type of steel the scissors are made of. For smooth cuts, go with convex edge, for grip, serrated. Check the pivot screw and for hand feel, also most especially gauge the overall balance of a pair before making a purchase.

With all the hullabaloo in the Middle East, the price of crude is climbing through the roof alongside steel, and the cost of shipping in general. My last reminder through alibaba com wasn’t too bad a deal as they really do support a ton of small businesses when it comes to affordable sourcing, but prices on amazon for scissors, shears etc. have started to increase again by about 5-10%. If the price of crude stays high, then the price will continue to rise on scissors and shears also - possibly you may find a lot of budget brands will start to move to recycled steel and direct selling online etc. I sometimes forget that a pair of shears must be sharpened, and in my rush to make the ribbons and ballet points sometimes I -may- get a blade caught in a fabric or a hair, a traffic accident in the studio! Any tips on making my shears last as long as possible before I make my next remake?
