Is this site ran by bidders who don’t pay?

I’m new to this site and scored a decent deal on a supposedly working item that I was looking for about 2x less than eBay which is pretty good. Snipers brought my final bit up a bit but it was what I was willing to pay. Now I get to use it.

So I looked around at other things, and some of these bids are wild. Like who pays 2x to 4x past market value for gold/silver? Or used - new price on an untested camera or electronic?

Seems like there’s no real consequence to running up a bid and never paying from reading historical posts.

Like someone can go in and bid 99,999 on an item out of their range. Win the bid and when it’s relisted, try again.

For the sake of an untested item, the most I would pay is “for parts” price on eBay and gamble a bit more if it does work. But it seems like bidders are completely risk adverse or something.

Wrap items firmly, please

This one from South Florida - for the most part I've had excellent wrapping and experiences in nearly 40 orders, but there have been a few exceptions.

This is for everyone though, items *must* be firmly wrapped so they can't move about, this is even more important as items get heavier. In this particular case and this particular Mac, the construction is metal, so they got real lucky (and FedEx delivered it upside down) and there does not appear to be any damage. However these old electronics are antiques like anything else - a lot of the older machines use plastics that are just not robust.

The prior damage I had and am waiting for a claim on had the main item secured properly, but the power supply was floating about and was bust up. Everything must be secured.

Shipping Time & Actions To Take?(Asking for future reference)

*I’m asking this to get an idea of how to handle future orders that might take a while to ship, or if something unexpected happens with an order.*

What’s the average time it takes for an item to ship?
Also has anyone ever experienced an item not being shipped? Is there a policy or support you need to contact in such a case?

I ordered two items on the 30th of June, so about 5-6 days ago, and I’m expecting it to be shipped within 7 days. In the unlikely chance that it doesn’t ship, what do I do? Just asking so I know for future reference.

What would some reasons be for an item not shipping, and is there a timeframe I should give them before I need to take action to get a refund or a replacement item? Thanks in advance!

I would love to hear about some of your stories / experiences when shopping in ShopGoodwill!

Has anyone has issues with items not being as described? What did you do?

So I recently ordered some collectibles and ended up paying just barely under market value for them.

I was pretty stoked since it was the last two I was missing to complete a set. And in an order just by themselves too! I don't order on shopgoodwill too often unless the item is listed NIB, and this listing was.

However, the two items I received had their seals already removed and all the plastics in the boxes gone. 100% NOT new in box.

Now I don't think I would have paid that price for used condition items if I'm being honest... and I know this is likely just a mistake... But would it be worth it to fight for a partial refund since the item was not as described?

Or should I just deal with the one time of overpaying and be happy I got them?

Has anyone here had something similar happen?

I think some inside sh$t going on

These lots a listed as all items magnetic yet I see clear marks of designer and precious metals. I also see same bidders on each lot bidding high. Opinions? I think I may outbid but scared they will pull good items before shipping.

Returned defective item, received refund, but they put "Reason for Refund" as "Buyer's Remorse" instead of their own error in overlooking the defect

When I politely but firmly said this needs fixing, as I didn't want that on my record, they said "the system" gave them no way to change it... but not to worry, that it doesn't affect my record.

But that is surely not true? Of course it's a ding on my record, how could it not be? Anyone have any info so I can go back and say "I happen to know it DOES affect one's record?"

Please ship items correctly

Just a couple things wrong with this shipment.

The box it was shipped in is way too large.

We pay for the size and the weight of the box, this shipment could have cost half as much.

The bubble wrap needed to be put around the individual Swarovski crystal figurines, not the manufacturer box.

Both of the figurines broke. The larger frogs foot and the eye of the smaller frog. I received two shipments this past week, both were broken.

I ordered something a week ago and it hasn’t shipped

I ordered a guitar amp a week ago and it hasn’t shipped yet, is it normally pretty inconsistent in shipping on shopgoodwill??

BUG HELP: Missing "Pay" button on Adjusted Combined Orders? (Risking a $196 shipping overcharge!)

TL;DR: Evergreen combined my 31 jewelry items into 10-item orders and adjusted the shipping, but the checkout button completely vanished. Clicking individual item pay links breaks the master invoice and forces a $196 shipping overcharge if paid without their combined adjustment. Support stalled for a week, and now everything is past due. Has anyone solved this?

The Full Story: I purchased 31 jewelry items from Evergreen Goodwill. I combined them into 10-item orders, as instructed (against published combined shipping policy) and Evergreen successfully adjusted for combined shipping on their end.

However, there's absolutely no way to pay for them. When I click the adjusted order number, there was no link or button to pay (I just saw the 10 items listed, the combined shipping, and the adjustment).

When I clicked the "$Pay" link on one of the individual items to force it, it created a new Order # with only that item, completely fracturing the combined order and stripping the shipping adjustment. Every item became individual & unadjusted again, meaning the system tried to charge me an extra $196 in base shipping fees. This forced me to start all over, recombine, and beg Evergreen to adjust it again.

What I've tried:

  • Checked on my phone, Chrome, and Firefox (on 2 different PCs at different locations). Nowhere can I find a checkout button or master link for the adjusted orders.
  • Searched everywhere for instructions. Any workarounds I found just broke the combined order apart again and re-applied the $196 overcharge.

Evergreen support has been wasting my time and not addressing the core UI issue for over a week. Today, now that these are wildly past due, they finally told me they can't fix it and to contact support@shopgoodwill.com.

Now, everything is past due and I'm at risk of losing the items I spent hours bidding on just to get the advertised shipping rates. Nothing is on their "current known issues" webpage.

Any ideas or workarounds?! This has turned out to be unbelievably stressful.

SCREENSHOTS:

  • Original combined & adjusted order (before any time was past due) with no checkout option.
  • Re-combined & adjusted order (now past due) still no checkout option.

NOTE: I'm not handing over an extra $196 because their checkout system is broken. Forcing buyers to pay a massive $196 overage on shipping due to a site glitch, which violates their own advertised policies, is unacceptable, even for a non-profit.

Houston Pick Up Only is a Scam!

I won a painting online fair and square. I drove from Austin to Houston to pick up my painting at the set appointment time I signed in to. I drive THREE hours only to be told at my appointment time to wait as they can’t find my item. I sit on the hot sidewalk for an HOUR, while their manager comes back from lunch. The manager apologizes and says he can’t find it and will ship my 30x40 painting for free. I left thinking that was fair. The manager had said that they would call me tomorrow. Days go by and no call. I call them only to be told they can’t find my painting and are going to refund me. I respond that I drove a 6 hour round trip for my painting and I want my painting. Then I get an email saying sorry and here is the Director's phone number. I call her and leave a message. She calls back 2 days later to say sorry they still can’t find my painting as maybe an employee gave it to the wrong person or damaged it and tossed it in the trash. Great. All she could offer me is free shipping on a non pickup item. That painting of Irises meant a lot to me. I was picking it up on my estranged daughters birthday. So many emotions were attached. I felt deflated and very cheated. I had previously bought over 1k in items from ShopGoodwill.com and will never ever buy from them again. They obviously have no control on their inventory or employees.

How long does it take an item to ship? :(

I won my first auction on 6/23 and I’m very excited! :) item still has not shipped. Goodwill of central and southern Indiana for what it’s worth!

Please ship items correctly part 2

This item had the opposite problem to my 1st post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/shopgoodwill/s/J60HoGm1R5)

This item was mailed in a thin box and the moment I picked it up I could feel the rattling. The bubble wrap was wrapped too tightly, which is why the statue broke. The padding put around the tightly wrapped statue was inadequate for shipment. If you can feel the item move inside the box, you don't have enough cushion.

This item was listed with a chip on the dogs tail, which was actually a missing leg. No biggie, I "upgrade" broken at by adding to it, filling in gaps and adding precious metals and gems.

But the shattered base where the artists signature goes and the severed head is beyond my abilities.

Why is it so hard for people to ship properly??

What happens to items with no bids?

I found a few pieces I liked but whose starting prices were too high for my liking, so I just watched them, and sure enough—no bids. What happens to those items? Do they get trashed? Reposted for less? I’m so curious!

Anyone know why "buy it now" listings are more than the prior auctions?

I've seen at least 2 listings go unsold and get relisted as "buy it now" for $10 more than the original listing. Why does shopgoodwill think anyone would buy it at a higher price than they were willing to bid for it?

Website won't let me pay for an item that was "Buy Now"

Over the past day or so, my gf and I hopped on the website to see if there was anything we wanted. We don't resell any items we get or anything, it's more for us.

We bid on multiple items and won 4 of them. One of those items was a "Buy Now" item. That item was a telescope, along with another one of those items which was also a telescope, but it was a bid. They're both for my father, so for shipping I put them in his name. (We share the same address).

I was able to pay for 4/5 items, except for one of the telescopes.

I go to my 'Open Orders' > Find the item > $Pay > and enter my information. For the shipping method I selected 'FedEx GROUND_HOME_DELIVERY', and all information is entered correctly.

I tried clicking "Proceed To Payment" though it keeps me on the same page titled, "Checkout Order". Below the item it a button that says "Click Here to delete this order", and I haven't seen that on any of the other orders I have.

Does this mean that there's an error with my order, and if so what do I do? Should I contact the seller, or contact support?

This is the first time I've had this happen before, so I'm kind of stuck.. thanks for the help!

Additional Information:

The item was listen under "Buy Now", and I added it to my Open Orders. The auction ended yesterday, so I thought I had 7 days to pay for it, though they wouldn't accept my payment. Are auctions listed as "Buy Now" treated differently?

I deleted the order from my cart and tried adding it back, but it said that the auction was ended. It also only said that it was soldout once I added it to my cart.. so..?
