End of an era

End of an era

After almost 40 years my local vac shop is closing its doors. Unfortunately, it's not an uncommon occurrence. Spent a lot of time and well, money there. Learned a lot and it's going to be sad to see it go. Did offer to sell it to me but yeah, not sure that's the best idea.

As a parting gift he left me this behemoth. Why? He raved about Riccar and Tandem Air being great. I raved about how useless IMO it is. So as gesture of goodwill and well let's face it, a good test to see if he would win the debate, he gifted me this Simplicity s30d. I've never owned a Tandem Air or cared to ever really buy one to test out. It was a floor model so it was somewhat taken care of, but it was his last day before literally moving out so he said it might need a quick over. Has all new filters, bags, brushroll, and hose. Any tips on what to check or replace? Any tips on ownership do's and dont's.

Also, is this pretty much a Riccar r30d? Like if I needed a part, would they cross fit? And are riccar bags or filters any different than simplicity.

Thank you!

Find of the year

Someone bought this thing 21 years ago... Stuck it in a closet and never touched it. Don't think it was even turned on. Fine edition to the collection.

Shipping price change after auction ends

Anyone ever notice, especially with West Coast GWs, the price of shipping go higher after the auction ends? They already charge insane prices on shipping but I swear the price jumped by $20 after it ended. I keep an Excel sheet with all my bids and shipping prices, so I can easily factor the shipping cost into the item, and I have a discrepancy of $20 from what I wrote to what they are now charging.

My Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum won't stop flashing the filter light.

I changed the filters and bag.... Used compressed air to clean it out.

Found it... Again

A few months ago I sold my Sebo D4..... And instantly regretted it. The original one I had sold, I found for $500 in almost new condition. All the ones Ive seen since selling it have been between $609 to $800.

Then came this!

2.5 hours each way and the beginning of a restoration project.

Any idea what this flashing light is? I checked all the filters and the post motor one looks kind of ehhhhh but to stop working all together? I'm new to the aeurus world so any advice would be great. Basically the light that looks like a filter is flashing blue.

I hated seeing these as silver. I just hit gold. And now I'm here. How the F! And yes I grabbed all three. Tried to explain to my wife what just happened and all she said was WTH, you ordered three vacuums. I guess I needed some viners to understand.

Irony of it is I collect Vacuums.

Got this for $20. And surprised how well kept it is. Little IPA and vac polish went a long way. And it floats!

This is what is it looks like when you have to deep clean in a small apartment. F+++⁷ñ⁷

I'm Deep cleaning the LR4 for its weekly appointment. Also found an upgrade on FBM for free for a brand new set of stairs and slightly used hopper. No odors, so I took it.

Any questions or tips... Throw them my way!!!

Three of them of course.

Got a great deal on these. Always wanted one. Picked these up on the way home from work. The one on the left is in pretty bad shape. It's crazy the difference of how good a vacuum looks in pictures compared to real life.

I know Miele marketed these as quick pickup brooms. But damnit, if they only had a brushroll. The third one....the previous owners understood the assignment. Everything kept in cloth bags. The lanyard and miele bag. The extra hepa filter.

Now all I need to do is find the red roses, the true blue, black, and white one.
