An Increase in Police Officers

https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/policy/articles/meta-10-billion-louisiana-data-173631860.html

https://www.ktbs.com/news/local/humor-harmony-festival-canceled-for-2026-as-50-cent-focuses-on-studio-renovations/article\_927b7310-0b65-424a-bddb-9c97baa0c314.html

There is a quickly rising voice for increased recruitment numbers of police officers coming from Shreveport City Leaders. The reasons that have been vocalized in public forums by City Leaders for a need in the increase in police officers focus on Shreveport's high crime rate, but do not attempt to describe any alternative reason as to why a significant number of more police officers will be needed in the following years.

This push for a higher amount of local police officers comes right after 50 Cent's 99 year lease for a considerable chunk of Downtown Shreveport was approved. A 99 year lease for a performer that had 1, singular, festival in Shreveport and continues to cancel the Humor & Harmony Festival every year since.

While it seems targeted to focus on 50 Cent's downtown plans as the cause for more police, 50 Cent himself is who requires it. He hired multiple private security companies for the 1 Humor & Harmony festival that did occur, and even then, the State Police had to be brought in to the City of Shreveport in order to ensure the festival continued smoothly.

It makes sense for Shrevport to want to secure their 99 year long investment, but will this come at a cost to local residents? Dramatic increases in policing in city centers, typically, have an opposing effect to crime rates. Making them rise dramatically. Ultimately, coming in the form of over-policing: like the recent laws allowing the Shreveport Police to exercise their legal liberties to ticket cars that are parked on private properties if they aren't parked correctly, for example.

And realistically, why should we believe that City Leaders are becoming altruistic about crime rates all of a sudden? They pushed both the AI Data Centers and 50 Cent's 99 year lease through multiple rounds of disapproval by the city's citizens, until they were able to finally achieve internal approval amongst themselves. Multi-generational deals are being made at the City level that are removing huge swaths of possible tax revenue for the city, that further reduce the amount of tax budget that can be used for improvements like increasing the number of police officers.

Community health is at an all-time low. Shaming the City of Shreveport's citizens about the high crime rate instead of funding community support programs that will actively lower the high crime rate, is a major misstep by our City Leaders.

Do better.

Hi Shreveport- Me again - Title Transfer Help :)

**Update, sorry - transfer from CA to LA**

Hi Shreveport - me again lol you were all right about my license - no test, went to Vivian - super fast - thank you!!

New question…I have to do a title/registration transfer now.

My windshield has a laminate crack (it’s in between the two pieces of glass.) If you touch the glass on either side, you can’t feel it. Additionally, it’s not in my line of sight.

In your experience (I’m going back to Vivian) will they fail my inspection (if they even do one??) it’s a 2024 Tacoma with nothing else wrong with it.

I can do a windshield replacement - but tbh $500 would suck to spend right now 😂😂😂

Thank you 🧡

All Pay and No Work-Sub Teachers in CPSD

If you’re unfamiliar with the news story, it’s out there. How do nine substitute teachers from the Caddo Parrish School District get paid and not work? Is this a “clerical” error or is it malevolent and criminal? I recall many years ago being a sub and no matter what campus I reported to, I had to sign my life away, declaring that I worked that day. Is there not a system in place? Is it careless data entry?

Mae & Co

3rd visit, last visit. First visit was not good, second so-so, I couldn't eat the food on the 3rd visit. My waiter suggested a sauce for the sandwich I ordered - I said "yes if it's not spicy, I don't like spice." He said it wasn't. Sandwich arrives - much too spicy for me after two bites I knew that was it. Waiter asked if I wanted anything else, since my guest was nearly finished I declined. Just looked at the bill - over $20 for my sandwich and the sauce he recommended was an upcharge! With 20% tip and two our iced tea our bill came to nearly $60. I'd have preferred a Chick-fil-A for $5!! No more chances.

Is this the female jail at the penal farm?

Just curious if anybody else recognizes this says it's a house in the article where a couple people were murdered at the penal farm but the building to me resembles these small jail that's in the front of the bigger funeral farm here. Just curious if they transformed it into the female jail later or if it's a different building on the property

Does anyone know any disability groups?

i'm from the area and i want to socialize, but i can't really leave the house on my own. where i am there are no sidewalks or biker lanes, so it makes traveling really difficult for me without uber.

the accessibility in the area is just terrible, at least where i'm at.

i feel so alone and at a loss, i'm not really sure what else to add to this

Can any other disabled people in the area relate? What do you guys do?

What are some local community events, classes and groups to join to meet people offline?

I'm currently on a journey to try to go to more things alone where I could meet people IRL instead of online all the time. I'm thinking about going to a zumba class at the Y this week but not sure who all attends those.
Art classes, workout classes, community events where it's more structured, hobby events, etc?? Besides yoga and crossfit, I don't want to attend yoga classes anymore. I know bars and clubs are ideal but I will not go to those alone.

Voting Day is tomorrow, here are the sample ballots, lets discuss

Because I feel I don't normally have a good grasp of what I am voting on when I am in the booth seeing this for the first time, because these are normally worded in such a way that you need a law degree to decipher them. Let's figure out what's what.

Here are the sample ballots for the three parties, if you are registered for Dem/Repub you must use that ticket when you vote, if you are unaffiliated you can choose to vote in the primaries for one or the other but not both.

Along with the primaries there are five amendment/referendums. CA No. 1-5

Personally, I could use some insight of CA's 1,2, and 4. 3 and 5 are fairly easy to understand.

Thoughts and opinions?
