Sandy Fire TV Coverage
How come KTLA and other local LA based news channels are not showing aerial video of air drops of water and flame retardant drops like we normally see? It seems like the coverage is sparse compared to other fires.

Does anybody know of a hotel in simi that will take pets? I have 2 cats and the couple I called said no and I was evacuated 3 hours ago and I don't have anywhere to else to go
We were evacuated yesterday and went to a hotel. Our area is still under evacuation orders on the app. But it seems the fire hasn't moved or grown and nothing has changed (which is good!). I'd love to be able to go home. The app hasn't updated in hours. Anybody know of some more current information?
Like it did during the Woolsey fire? it seems to be burning in that specific area and there was credible reports that radioactive material was spread through the ash when that happened during woolsey
BFS, stock, terry, on tapo closing in 2 weeks? Anyone else hear that to be true? Doubled the rent: forcing them to go.
If anyone is displaced by the fire and needs accommodation, DM me - just pay the cost of the room ($140). I booked as I was in the evac zone but wind is blowing in the other direction.
Hi Everyone, was wondering if anyone does a commute from simi to Burbank on the daily for work? I am looking at a new job and the offices would be in Burbank near Porto's on Magnolia.
Does anyone do this drive, and how is it? Is this drive a dealbreaker for anyone? I would be going in at 9am and getting out at 6pm.
Everywhere south of Royal Ave looks to be in the evacuation zone
Hi guys! My boyfriend’s Ford Ranger was stolen from his house today. It was stolen from West Simi Valley. This is his baby and it is heartbreaking. Please be on the lookout for his truck or any blue ford ranger.
Hi, fellow Simi Valley people.
Does anyone know if there is a place to purchase a real, physical newspaper like the LA Times or the NY Times?
Thank you in advance for your assistance with this.
Hey peeps! My wife and I are moving to Simi Valley this Friday from Utah, and we’re honestly really excited (and a little nervous won’t lie). We got our two little dogs coming with us too, a Boston terrier and king charles spaniel 🐶
A little background about us..we’re originally from Puerto Rico, but funny enough, I was born in Thousand Oaks, so in a weird way it feels like a full circle moment. We’ve always wanted to live in California, Utah wasn’t for us personally. We’ll be living near Cochran St and wanted to ask what can we expect living in Simi Valley?
We’re really chill people and were drawn to Simi because it seemed peaceful, scenic, and close enough to everything without feeling too chaotic. And plus we’re very outdoorsy, I do a lot of trail running. We both work remotely for our main jobs, but I’m also looking for a side hustle to make some extra cash, so I’d love to hear any recommendations on good local places to work or opportunities around the area. I used to work part-time at an REI in Utah.
Curious about the general vibe of the community too, and anything newcomers should know or things you wish you knew before moving there. My parents have friends in the area and they couldn’t happier there but I’d love some more perspective.
Really looking forward to starting this new chapter. Much love to all!
Some kind of radio tower? I've never seen something this size in a residential neighborhood.
Hi everyone, def trying not to crash out as I type this. My fiance and I are getting married 8/14/26. We have booked ALL of our vendors and just now heard from local PD that our wedding venue has a cease order for all events because the estate owners NEVER got proper licensing/permits to host events in their zoning area.
Apparently 3 other couples are in the same boat as us and 2 have looked for other venues - 1 of which has not even been given their deposit back.We are having a meeting with the venue owner today to see if they admit anything to us, but at this point we've lost so much trust in them since we heard of all this from someone else. Seems like they weren't planning on telling us and were willing to risk being shut down for our wedding.
We are wanting to find villa/estate style venues in Ventura County that can accommodate 150 guests and allow external caterers to avoid losing more money with ending contracts with current vendors. The venue also must allow flames and be available for 8hr (ideally 2-10pm or more) since it will be an Indian wedding. We don't really want an indoor or ranch style venue. And mountains might be a no go since it'll be outdoor and August so the heat will only worsen in those areas. But we'll take any recs- waiting reply from Hummingbird's Nest, Villa Amodei which we loved was max guest of 75, in talks with McCormick Ranch.
PLEASE SHARE YOU RECS, DESPERATELY NEED THE HELP only 91 days away from the wedding
So, had an interesting encounter today with a lady in a car that she scribbled "HELP ME" on the windows over and over. On the back it says that she was working 80 hours a week, Ubering, etc. Made eye contact with her and looked away because, yknow, awkward. I look back and she's staring right at me, doing the "shame" finger scrapey motion, and yelling SHAME at me.
To the best of my knowledge my only sin was looking at her car. Anyone else encounter this lady?
