I think these are skaven im not a skaven player or age of sigma player so correct me if im wrong
Hey! Returning hobbyist here, it's been like 20 years give or take.
Found Island of Blood box with Skaven in sprues (which I had bought from a buddy and forgot), are these usable still in current year? To use these in AoS / Spearhead, would need round bases right? Any other thoughts about them? Cheers in advance.
I’ve finished the Skaventide Spearhead and I’m picking in City of Ash box next week for my birthday, they are technically separate clans, but I’ve been painting everything in a green and purple Pestilinish scheme. Do we think it’d look good on the ninjas as well or should I make them look special.🤔
So, for yesterday's ratpost I did a bit on Oldhammer skaven, but... to be honet, I still do wanna nerd about them! Here you have now all of the diferent models, which I painted with time, patience, effort, and all of the love of my hearth.
This was my take on the original models, alltho some explanation may be required:
The first actual skaven models came out in 1985, under the C47 series, named "Chaos Ratmen", but also as skaven. There wasn't any lore to them yet. Some of these are featured on my bit. Or at leat my favorite models from the batch. I'm sorry, Kruhl Backripper nation, your time to shine will come.
Then, for the Citadel Journal of spring, in 1986, where a lot of the actual kaven lore was first presented to the public, at least to my knowledge. I sstill do recommend taking it a read, you will see that a lot of skaven lore hasnt been changed that much in 40 years.
There came a lot of the rest of the first skaven models under the C47 series again, with a lot of their silly dated names presented on the video.
I also put here some C22 models that also came out first in 1986, alltho a bit later (I think). Honestly, this wass because I wanted to draw sskaven models from all of the great Clans, and, most importantly, how can you ignore such a glorious name like FLEM?????
Notice in the video and the links how a lot of these models had names because Warhammer wass built diferent by then (literally). Most would become generic models, with some exceptions. Malis, Throt, and maybe Gnawdoom are the examples that come to mind. Sadly, FLEM didn't make the cut.
Paintwork come from various places. Some are oficial (like Spyne), some come form the blog Oldenhammer in Toronto, some I used my consultant's paintwork to honour his help (also, notice how ssome of these models didn't have tails. My oldhammer consultant confirmed such models dont actually have them, and I wanted to be as faithful as posible)
Again, thanks to the great people from The Old World discord who helped me with this bit! It wouldnt have been posible without them.
As said, there you have both a family photo, and the models. Hope you guys like this tribute!
And yes, you can consider this as a celebration for the skaven's 40th aniversary. I wouldnt, tho. For me that was last year!
Deathmaster inspired by the Nighthaunt range of wraiths. I plan on painting the rest of the eshin spearhead in similar fashion (maybe the night runners will be simpler). CC welcomed.
CC is always welcome
Greetings, scurrying kin, i made-made a list here but don't know-know if it's usable. Could you possibly tell us if it is and what should we change-change? Skrewy man-things are there to pave way for ratkind glory with their meat-meat.

Painted a good sized Skaven battle force for someone, picked the hellpit abomination out of the box and said to myself "uguugggggh". Then I started painting it and fell in love! Such a FUN model to work on
A request of these vermins in 40k setting, and surely a black rat would slay in those commissar suit.
So i used a defiler + many other kits and turned it into a hellpit abomination
Its actually the correct basesize so i can use him on the table
I can't wait to paint this Monster yes yes
Proud of myself for breaking the hobby slump! These sculpts where awesome and the thing that motivated me in the end was painting with a limited colour pallet using different techniques on such awesome models.
