The Comedians by Kliph Nesteroff
Sharing for anyone else that’s interested in the book Soder references in the Johnny Pemberton ep (I think he’s mentioned it other times as well?)
Sounds like a good read. https://groveatlantic.com/book/the-comedians/
Middle school memories…
anyone notice how Soder always brings up memories from middle and high school? I feel like that’s a good chunk of his podcast. stories from his childhood…how does he remember all that??
WE FINALLY GOT THE EPISODE!!!!!!
I usually haaateeee when people post the episode before it airs...but this is such a long waited episode for the OG maniacs that I HAD to do it!!!! DAN PULLED THROUGH FOR US!!!!!!!!!
A humble offering: the block Australia
What's up manics?
Soder said recently on a pod that a favorite pass time is shitting on TV shows with the better half. Season 19 (51 episodes wtf) of the block was inadvertently one of the best reality shows.Real drama, Intense friction between cast, lying, going to the tabloids about each other and backstabbing while everyone puts in 70+ hour weeks to renovate 5 homes that they could end up making $0 on. The Australian bully personality makes for amazing tv and they all have pretty bad taste, so clowning design choices is great. They repeat everything a lot which is a downside, but makes it the perfect walk away from the tv show. Also doing the accent when they say out of pocket shit never gets old.
If you enjoy this same hobby as Soder, this show rules.
McDaniel… yikes
Listening to the episode now and McDaniel sounds like he’s pilled out. Now I know that he was probably sober because Dan would never allow a pod where his childhood best friend was openly fucked up to go live and jeopardize his career, but damn, to a casual observer he sounds awful.
