Hi all I am completely new to grooveboxes. My goal is to make music on the go (parks, airports etc), be it entire songs or just ideas I get at the moment, on a relative tight budget.

Because I play guitar the smpltrek (€299) caught my eye as it has a line in/guitar input and looks from reviews like a portable DAW. However, I've also seen the novation circuit rhythm (€315), the circuit tracks (€349), the Roland p-6 (€179), and the Roland sp-404 MK2 (€495, and people seem to recommend that over the smpltrek).

As a beginner, I am quite overwhelmed with the amount of choice as they all seem to sample audio, but are very different in workflows and also price.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: I think I have made my choice and it's gonna be the Yamaha seqtrak. Kinda realized that I don't have my guitar and amp with all my effects with me anyway which opened a lot more options. Thank you all for your advice!

I have two questions, the first is what cable do you use to get the stereo eighth inch into quarter inch?

The second is do you get any static/hum from your ambient 0? Its showing up when i record from it and i dont know anything about how to solve those issues :/

Hi people.

I'm looking to purchase a liven evoke synth to add another element to my set up. I make grime/Dubstep beats, also starting to dabble in dnb/garage. Currently have a korg volca drum, arturia microfreak and arturia beatstep pro. I want to make atmospheric pads and background noise with the evoke.

Does anyone have any experience with the evoke? How is the sound design? Do you think it was a good purchase?

I think I know the answer to this (no) but is there any way to turn off time correct / quantize when playing into the sequencer on the evoke? I'm trying to perform some melodic parts but the sequencer quantizing is so rigid, even at the highest settings.

Here is Sinseondae (신선대), one of the most beautiful cliffs in Busan, South Korea. The Sonicware Liven Ambient 0 is perfect for outdoor synth jams.
This cliff is a bit challenging for me, though.

Not worth it at this point after they announced them coming out at $199 what 6 years ago? I know shit has changed but ugh! The new Liven is supposed to be $400. Youch.
