You guys were right. Turning up the radio really does make the bad noises go away. Much better now.

What is the Global Hum, and why do only some people hear it while no source has ever been found?

The Global Hum is a persistent, low-frequency sound reported in scattered communities worldwide, from Bristol in the UK to Taos in New Mexico. It’s often described as a distant engine or droning vibration. Strangely, only a small fraction of people in each location can hear it, while their neighbours remain unaware.

Attempts to trace the Hum to industrial noise, pipelines, seismic activity, or even tinnitus have all failed. It appears and disappears unpredictably, leaving no clear origin. Some researchers suggest it may be a psychological phenomenon, while others insist it’s a real external sound.

The mystery matters because it challenges both science and perception: if external, it points to an unknown acoustic phenomenon; if internal, it reveals how the human brain can generate shared sensory experiences. Either way, the Hum remains one of the most enduring unexplained puzzles of our time.

I always want sounds I don’t know

Someone can please help me identify which IPA characters could give a sound somewhat close to what I’m trying to show? I’m in doubt if the first is a long unvoiced alveolar tap. The other one I’m not sure, but it’s like saying “ap” and closing your mouth abruptly before making the consonant sound, with the “p” sound being from slamming the lips together, like if you expelled/sucked/“created a vacuum” by doing so. (Sorry if I’m posting in the wrong place, bcz I’ve already posted here some days ago)

Wyoming Incident Sound Question

This was an audio question and I have to get approval to post on the Wyoming Incident subreddit. But, I am curious what is and where is the clicking or flickering sound on the "Special Presentation" sections of the Wyoming Incident cause or from? I believe I have heard that sound before. https://youtu.be/d15cSimSDQA?is=iSIsrEB6xD\_uAWfo

Loudness

I just bought a set of 4 wireless mics with a dongle to connect directly to speakers. I can hear the mics so the connection works but it’s not as loud as the speakers are when I play music with the speakers. Is there something I need to buy to get louder mics? Do I need an amp? Better speakers? Better mics? It’s just for home but I really would like loud clear mics for my parties. Thanks for any help.

Need help syncing audio from two different sources

Need help syncing audio from two different sources

hello,

I have two video files.

  1. first video

fraction frame rate 29.7 or something maybe(VBR)

with audio

audio 1 - 48khz in language 1

audio 2 - 24khz in language 2

audio 3 - 24khz in language 3

  1. second video

same frame rate and VBR

with audio

audio 1 - 41khz in language 4

I want to take the audio from the second file and add it to first . there is some intro in the second video file that I need to remove and also I need to add the audio file to the first video file after a duration.

I am using kdelive and I tried to sync with a keyframe visually. but the video files drift apart after a while

I tried converting both video files to 30fps and 48khz audio and tried to visually sync key frames but they still drift apart after a while.

someone please help me to sync and add the audio from the second file.

thanks :)

Hearing tastes

Hi guys,

So a couple years back I talked to my therapist about the fact that everything I taste has 1-3 fairly clear Semi-Musical tones of sound within my head unique to each taste/food. She told me that I had synesthesia. Honestly, I didn't think much of it until recently. I was trying to explain to someone that I felt like someone had just sat on a piano in my head (I had forgotten I had been chewing gum and ate an orange slice)

They were adamant that this was not a form of synesthesia, and when I attempted to Google it to prove that it was I could literally find nothing online.

So, I'm here to try and find anyone who has something similar. Or am I just insane and completely delusional?

Thanks in advance (and yes, I'm happy to try and explain what I hear (although it's feels more like earbuds planted in my brain then in my ears) when I eat certain foods haha)

PS. If this isn't a form of synesthesia and I'm just insane, I'm really sorry I've been larping as a member of y'all's community and I wish you the best

It randomly started 3 mins ago and hasn’t stopped since wtf

My room is right next to the outside and it’s nighttime but it sounds like it could also be coming from another wall near the outside wall but I don’t think so

Is it an animal???

Can anyone help to identify what the circled part of this image might be?

https://preview.redd.it/2mgnnjwmvv8h1.jpg?width=713&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42d2a39b8a2a8a1fd84d27be6c74827bc61eea3a

I am working to create something similar to the image above... Essentially a portable sound cabinet of sorts.

I have pretty much been able to identify everything here except the item in the top right corner. It appears to have an XLR output that connects to a mixer. This connection seems to allow all of the wireless mics to connect to an existing sound system. It also seems to function as an antenna connection for the UDH box to the left.

Any ideas on what this part is? I imagine the rear must have inputs for all three of the receivers.
