Should I melt it

Should I melt it

Im sure the title implies, and please dont just yell at me for buying it, i got lucky and got it with cred.

That being said, here are my thoughts.

  1. Its hogging up 5900 usd worth of cred I could be using to play with other ships actually in the game.

  2. Im honestly just scared to melt cause I dont know if I'll be able to get it back

  3. Rule of cool.

  4. its not gonna be out before I retire. (Im 3 years in my career now)

  5. Really... why do it need it?

  6. But I need it!

Tldr. Do i melt the odin or not

My fleet 4 life

This game may not succeed or will... I don't know... the only ships missing are the Hull D and the Pioneer. After these purchases I will be getting other ships in game. Many may wonder why ruin my experience by getting some end game ships. My reason is that I do not want to grind for these ships in game. Who knows when the Hull D or the Pioneer will come out, but as of right now I am using the store credits for other ships that I want to try out. Corsair is a good starter to do some hauling and PvE to earn $$ early maybe not as good as the Connie buuttt we'll see how the mk5 or whatever turns out. I play with a couple of friends, so these ships will be filled with at least 3-4 including me. Other times it may be just me alone and I will most likely treat my polaris as my mobile base and do whatever.

Should I melt most of my fleet to get a Idris?

As much as I love my Polaris it just feels very left behind in the current game. The Idris gives me more hangar space, more storage space, better interior, better med bay and pilot weapons. The Idris will also be able to do what all my other ships can do a lot better but slower.

I also do just love having big ships and being the captain of a capital ship which is admittedly the main reason why I want a Idris. Its more then twice the size of a Polaris with imo the best bridge on any ship.

My Chaotic Fleet

This is my "small" fleet. I have been collecting and CCU chaining for a very long time now. I originally got a lot of my ships to play with my friends, however a lot of them stoped playing or only play once in a while. I got a little of everything meaning I can try out most of the gameloops available. Just thought I would share it here and see what you guys think.

Fleet update question

This is my current fleet but I’m contemplating changing it a bit to make it less specialized and more generalistic in nature. I don’t need to make the max profit per hour but I do want to have fun playing the game and try to do multiple loops in one ship.

This is why I’m thinking about melting the Hermes and replace it with a constellation Taurus.

Generally speaking I’m a solo player, which is why I mostly favor small ships but I also want something to use with friends and to get friends to play star citizen during free fly events.

Although the Hermes already suits that bill I’d like to have a platform that can do more tasks rather than favor a specialized approach into one field. So the idea would be to do some cargo, some space combat, some fps content with a medical Ursa in the bay etc.

Aside from that the golem likely will turn into a prospector and the hornet could potentially turn into a Guardian (I know mx is better and all but I really want to have a bed, suit locker and kitchen etc. I’m weird like that) but I’m undecided on that as I really like the hornet.

Looking forward to your opinions but please don’t touch my clipper as I really love that little bastard together with the prowler ut.

Need your opinion

Hello fellow Citizen,

I currently have a Galaxy (No modules yet), an Ironclad, the arrastra and the perseus.

I feel like the galaxy is currently unnecessary since I already have the arrastra which will have the onboard refinery and I have the Ironclad for Cargo. I currently see no use for medical right now. I am mostly playing solo right now and sometimes with 2 other friends.

Do you think I should melt my galaxy and buy 2 of the shown three ships ; Zeus ES for daily (most likely upgrade to the MR), Vulture for salvaging and Hornet since I have no fighters and feels like I should start improving my space combat skills.

Open to any other suggestions you might have.

Another avenue I found was to keep the Galaxy and upgrade my Ironclad to the MISC Odyssey..

Thanks in advance :)

looking for ship suggestions

Looking for suggestion:
1, prowler utility, I kind of want a ship for pyro. not a pvp player and I dont really spend too much time at pyro. but I do want to experience pyro. I wonder if I really need a pyro ship. or I can just use a starter and fit it with stealth component.
2, I have couple of good CCU left. I can melt some ship in the touring group and get a polaris, BMM, Perseus, odyssey, those 600+ ships. but I dont really think these ships bring much value to my fleet.

Im going to finish my fleet this IAE and just leave it. will melt all my CCUs. Im more of a PVE player. want to enjoy all kinds of game loop.

Fleet feedback / advice

o7 citizens !

Looking forward to get some feedback / advice about my fleet ! I'm playing lot of different gameplay loops, sometimes in little groups ( 2-4 people ) and sometimes with bigger groups ( 6-10 people )

Even when playing solo, I use to group with random people I meet in the verse to have fun so I'm almost never playing really solo !

I think I might be missing a "real" daily, other than the Apollo which is my current daily driver, would love to hear your thoughts about that and also the fleet in general !

My fleet - I will have to change

I really like some of the ships, but i will be for sure as soon as possible melting my Dominus for Drake Complete pack so I can have Kraken - I am mainly industrialist and this fleet is not my butter. But keeping BMM.

Final Fleet Plan…

So here is the plan for my fleet for me and my small org. Of course this is only if I can secure the Kraken this IAE. I think it’s pretty well rounded. Thoughts?

After All These Years, I Think I’m Finally Done With CCUs

I sold all the old, cheap CCUs I had so I could finally stop messing around with CCU chains. I’m happy with this fleet now and plan to leave it as it is until 1.0. Honestly, I already have more ships than I realistically need, so there’s no reason to keep chasing upgrades. Hard to believe it all started with an Aurora MR back in 2016.

You guys think this makes sense?

Just a quick thought I had regarding a light carrier Home concept to have most loops covered and always be ready for whatever comes my way.

Suppose the Ironclad is probably better but I kind of prefer the low crew requirements of the liberator. I have all the ships but the Liberator so I could melt a couple excess pledges I have and upgrade my Hermes to the Liberator.

Considering a Polaris or Kraken

This is my current pledged fleet. Love all of them. I only really do FPS, space combat and some trading, and I mostly play solo. I'm really considering picking up a Polaris. I really love the ICA, but while the MX does fit (with the door open) it tends to glitch out and I basically always need a C8R or Nursa to make it a medical ship so when I die I respawn on it.

Again, love it for industry, but not sure if spending the extra money to get a Polaris makes sense. It does have a bigger hanger and RRR. plus space for smaller ships, but feel like its something kinda large to fly around. Interested in peoples thoughts and suggestions.

I'm also considering picking up the liberator in September.

My current Pledge Fleet as a Solo Player

Polaris and Scorpius have LTI, and the Dragonfly got 10y of insurance. I spent over $1500.

Pledge fleet. Wondering if the Asgard overlaps too much.

Been around since 2014, which is why I have an un-upgradable PTV, and the Mustang Omega.

As I have a Liberator, and Redeemer, would it be worth changing the Asgard to something like the Reclaimer?

Current fleet and post-launch thoughts

Love my current fleet, and I tend to melt around and such. But recently I was thinking about how I am affecting my gameplay. I melted almost all my gear packs except for the epoque armor….that's just cool, sorry. But I noticed how, aside from doing it, I don't gain anything from doing normal bunker runs/onyx, etc., because I already have armor I thoroughly enjoy.

So to get a reason to hunt armor, I melted those things. And I got thinking about my ships. Right now I don't need to reset anything, but when (if) we get closer to a release window, I figure I would rather not have a fleet that essentially stops me from grinding for ships. So stopping myself from spending more (also in light of the current state) is a good first step.

I figure I have two ways. Either I melt all ships and buy starter/slightly better ships for my favorite loops. Or I melt everything, get one starter or Clipper-like ship, and use the remaining amount to buy one absurd ship that would more or less just sit around. A ship that would mean SO much grinding that I would be fine just having it.

Or well…melt everything and ignore the store credit. :D

What are your plans? Do you have any?

u/skorar_capulus — 7 days ago

I'm a collector and an OG backer; here's my fleet.

All pledges, some are LTI some are not. I don't care much for that.

Backed the game in Oct 2012.

Me and my friends' focus is Salvage, Hauling, Base Building, Crafting and Exploring.
We do enjoy some PVE combat as well but they have a similar fleet albeit a bit smaller.

Over the years I think I've owned all the ships there is but melted most of what I'm not interested in. Some new ships I buy just to check out and will likely serve as an upgrade for something in the future. I try not to melt ships anymore as I've bought ships, melted them because the current gameplay wasn't good and then the gameplay for said ship got better and bought them back... Today I keep the big majority of my ships and even though some aren't good now, they'll eventually be better.

Any question of if you're curious about any ships I'll be more than happy to talk about them.
