Which one would you buy?

Here are “some” of my platypus designs. I’d pickle grip worth it? For a edc and competition gun?

Also is there a smaller mag funnel?

Choosing tan color scheme

So I’m looking at ordering a platypus and I’m looking for this kind of color scheme. I ordered swatches from cerakote and I am leaning towards FS Brown sand for the slide and frame and then doing Coyote tan on the grip and magwell. Open to suggestions if someone has one in a tan combination already I’d love to see pictures of it.

Joined the club today

Picked up my first platypus today from a friend, excited to join to club. I’ve wanted one of these ever since I first saw one, and knew I had to have it when I saw it posted on tacswap. Lucky enough to skip the wait but hopefully someday I’ll have a second that I get to customize.

Impact Machine Platty

I wasn’t happy with how my Cerakote came out and couldn’t get a resolution from SA, but Scott over at Impact Machine took it to another level. 🤝🔥

She’s here two weeks early

When you’ve mentally prepared yourself to wait another two weeks and then get that notification… 👀😂

Two weeks ahead of schedule my Platypus showed up early and I’m definitely not complaining. First impressions: this thing feels good. Can’t wait to get some rounds through it and see if it shoots as good as it looks.

Firearm request approved just past 2 weeks

July 18th sent request in. Got approved today 6th at like 5:30. That’s pretty quick imo

I was having some failure to feed issues at a IDPA match after 7,000-9,000 rounds. Didn’t figure out why until I got home….

Thankfully a new firing pin is a $10 part. Should have 2 new ones here today.

Not as pretty as she once was and that's ok

Not shiny and new anymore and shows some signs of love at about 30k rounds. Have had zero issues that required anything more than a little maintenance. Fantastic pistola.

Long awaited arrival

Just like most of y’all I’m super excited to have added the platy to my collection. Thankful it arrived 2 weeks sooner than expected. Instantly stuck a TLR1- HLX and Trijicon RCR on her and my SLR mag extension just came in couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.

Platypus 5”

Finally joined the 2011 club. Considering putting a TLR-1 on there I think.

Unlike pretty much every other 2011 that I have shot before, I think the platypus, and I’ve known this for a while since I tried it the first time, is the only one that remedies most of the main grips that I have with the 2011 platform.

-It’s almost mandatory to put your thumb on top of the manual safety to prevent it being pushed up into the “safe” position.
-The slide stop/release is always just far enough a way that I can’t hit it with my thumb without completely adjusting my grip
-The vast majority of the mag release buttons are small and stiff, and also a little further forward than I would like, which also forces me to break my grip.
-2011 magazines are expensive, and are finicky
-While I do like a girthy handgun grip, most 2011’s somehow always feel a little bit uncomfortable.
-There is always a little crevice where my shooting thumb meat is being pinched a little bit somewhere between the manual safety and the Beavertail.

Yeah, the platypus, feels a lot more like a striker fire gun in a lot of ways because of the Glock mags changing the geometry.

Platy secured

Just picked it up and put about 250 rounds through it.

Still need to pick out a dot for it, and I plan on putting some handle it grips on it.

Mine did ship with Glock mags which I was happy about. I know for a while they were shipping with some different ones.

It just feels damn good in my hand.

Going to be using it for a little bit of everything.

Excuse my dirty mousepad.

Anyone run the SilencerCo Osprey on their ‘Pus?

I was thinking about swapping my current suppressor host (PPQ) for a Platypus. Anyone have experience using the Osprey 9? If so?’c how does it run? And more importantly, how does it look?

Best way to port a Platy

About to pull the trigger on a Platypus. Will be an EDC pistol, so going with 4" bull barrel. As I can't get the compensator, I want to port this one. If I get the Trident slide, can the barrel be ported without drilling the slide? If that doesn't work, which is the best slide option if I need to drill it?

Pic for attention:
