What We Lose With Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert understands the power of fear. As a character, he used it — built an entire television empire on it, rallied thousands to the National Mall under the banner “Keep Fear Alive,” even ran a satirical presidential campaign powered by it.
He spent a decade playing a man who trafficked fear nightly to expose it, to mock it, to make the people wielding it look ridiculous.
In the fall of 2012, he sat down with Playboy — one of the rare times he agreed to be interviewed as himself rather than as his character — and explained why fear is such an effective weapon. He quoted Thomas Jefferson: “I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” Injecting fear into people, Colbert said, is an attempt to kill their thinking. It’s an act of oppression.
Thirteen years later, his reflection turned out to be a premonition. He couldn’t have known he was foreshadowing his own ending.

How many freakin’ commercials were on Colbert tonight? The greedy CBS pigs are milking the last drop. Bless you Stephen!
reddit.comIn Honor Of The Late Show - Here’s St. Vincet "Live On Letterman" at the Ed Sullivan Theater
With the Ed Sullivan Theater closing its doors as soon as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert goes off the air for the final time, here's a #TBT to the only time I got to step foot in the famed theater... it was for "Live on Letterman" - the webcast series where they would livestream an artist performing a full concert from the Ed Sullivan Theater shortly after they appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman. And I was super lucky to get to attend St. Vincent's webcast concert in July 2014 - right as she was experiencing widespread acclaim for her self-titled album. Seeing St. Vincent perform during this period was incredible enough, but seeing her in such a unique setting made it even more special.
Fun Fact: not only can you still watch the entire concert on YouTube, but you can actually spot me (for like half a second) as St. Vincent makes her entrance and goes down the aisle toward the stage! Included the best screenshot I could get in this clip 😆

My family, my friends, fun.
And with that, Stephen Colbert is known.
Would this be ridiculous or ridiculously cool to put in our backyard?
I love Lord of the Rings and am obsessed with this fire ring and would like to create a fire pit area like the second picture. My husband hates the idea and isn't on board at all and basically said I can't buy it (using my own money, we have separate accounts) because it's "too nerdy" for our shared space.
My other thought was to buy the fire ring and use bricks built up around the outside so you can only see the design inside, but it feels like a waste of the gorgeous design that way.
Fuck you Byron Allien
Literally just heard on the CBS morning show of him saying , that he was the one who pushed for the cancellation of the late show for his shifty show. "I told CBS that they shouldn't waste money on the Late show, Spend it on my show. I was angry that my show was on at 3am in some places". I probably to early for a Clip of saying it. But Fuck you Byron Allen and Fuck you CBS

theguardian.comStephen Colbert's Legacy? He's kind. Not Nice.
I wanted to understand why I appreciate Colbert more than other hosts. Many do some of the same commentary, and use similar formats to connect with their audiences.
But Colbert is different. He's kind. But, more importantly, he doesn't confuse that with being nice. Anyway, I figured I'd jot down my thoughts here, in case anyone else feels similarly.
Edit: This has had such a wonderful response! I know everyone is busy, so I'm thankful to see folks take some time to check out the article!

youtu.beBest moment
Have loved the show from afar and I am gutted it is going, it was my breakfast viewing here in the UK.
His cold opens are legendary. But his skills as an interviewer were immense switching from analytical to funny in an instant.
His interview with Nick Cave on grief and the loss of his child was simply one of the best interviews of all time.
As an atheist, seeing faith discussed on late night in such a profound manner was deeply moving.
