Value?

I’m checking to see if this cup has any value (besides the silver) but I haven’t found anything like it. I thought I’d check with you folks.

Any info on its age, maker, series, etc would be helpful. I googled “Frank sprague martin” and didn’t find anything.

And FYI, if I was going to just melt it I wouldn’t asking for its background. It’s safe. Might go to someone who can appreciate it more than I but won’t wind up as an ingot.

From what I found it appears to be a depiction of:
The Blue Bird: A Fairy Play in Six Acts by Maurice Maeterlinck from 1908

Someone referenced another image which had it as “1943” but I think they misread the “4”. It should be 1913 which is more in line with the Kerr company name, story images, and other patterns.

Inherited Silverware

Hi everyone,

My girlfriend just inherited some silverware, and we are wondering what exactly we have here. I have looked up the brand and “Old Master” title, and it’s hard to know whether some of these prices are outlandish. I’ve seen some 66 piece sets going for upwards of 20,000 dollars, and this has at least 100 pieces. It was collected up until the 70s and seems to be in fantastic condition. Can someone please give me an estimate of the value?

Can’t get full shine :/

Started cleaning these old spoons I inherited and I’ve gotten a long way but I still can’t get a mirror shine on it despite all my elbow grease
I did the baking soda and aluminum trick and even bought silver jewelry cleaner and polishing cloth
But I can’t remove this final dullness

Need help decoding Marks on an Silver set

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a small antique set (3 big spoons and 3 big forks) with matching monograms but different maker's marks.

I suspect they are American Coin Silver (around 1810-1850) due to the lack of official British/European assay marks, but I am having trouble identifying the exact silversmiths or retailers.

I've attached photos of the hallmarks. Any help decoding them would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

USA NY 925 Sterling by Grand Handmade Platter “Eseguito a mano” Identification Help

Found this platter at my job today (junk removal), it weighs about 3.5lbs and has those 2 obvious dents. Other than melt value I was wondering if anyone had some idea of where this is from so I can get a better idea on if I should try and sell it or melt it? Thank you

USA/NYC - Towle Old Master Sterling Silverware

I just inheritted a set of Towle Old Master Sterling Silverware Set of 74 pieces. Beyond the 74 pieces, there are 2 pieces that are Holmes and Just trying to better understand what it's worth and how I can sell it if I choose to.

  • 7 butter spreaders (#1)
  • 12 salad forks (#2)
  • 12 dinner forks (#3)
  • 12 tea spoons (#4)
  • 1 jelly spoon (#5)
  • 1 serving spoon (#6)
  • 12 cream soup spoons (#7)
  • 12 dinner knives (#8)
  • 5 butter spreaders (#9)

There are 2 Holmes and Edwards pieces that look like a serving spoon and fork, and I understand these are generally worth less. (#10)

Lastly, the trunk itself seems vintage but isn't in great shape. Would love to know if that's worth anything (#11)

Thanks so much for any feedback.

Wondering if anyone has any info about these

Hoping to confirm my suspicions about this set i found and what they could possibly be worth! Any info would be greatly appreciated

I have 21 of the forks marked “Marquand & co”
1 fork with the G & H stamp with what looks like the numbers 1849 to me

Then the candle stick marked “700” with no other markings from what i see

From my research the forks should be coin from the 1830s has anyone seen these before and know what they could be worth?

Thank you in advance

Potential Sterling Silver Trinket/Cigarette Box?

Hey everyone, I got this box from a garage sale when I was like 7 or 8 (10+ yrs ago), and i was about to give it away when I noticed the stamped symbols underneath.

Google says it's a "Sterling Silver Trinket/Cigarette Box, made by Charles S. Green & Co. in Birmingham, England, in 1929" but I'm not so sure.

Can anyone help me identify the symbols on the bottom? Want to know if I have something interesting here or not.

Thank you for your time!

Is this bowl silver?

Found this bowl at a garage sale, marked sterling 915.
Not sure if that’s the silver purity, or model number.
Can’t find answers for either when I look. Any info on it is appreciated!
Thanks

300 year old coin silver tankard.

This tankard has been in my family since at least the 1840s.

Christie’s reviewed and they believe it to be an authentic 800 gram coin silver tankard by colonial silver smith Andrew Tyler.

Scored 12 sterling spoons for $0.25 each! Need help identifying the logo and year

Found these at a thrift store. They weigh 22–24 grams each.

The back is stamped STERLING and M B Cº. There is also a small pictorial hallmark stamped right above the sterling mark. The front handles looks like Gothic "D" monogram.

Can anyone identify what that specific pictorial logo is, or point me to the pattern name and production year? Thanks!

Help to identify

I have had these spoons for several years. I bought them at an online auction. They were identified as German .800 silver serving spoons, but I’m not so sure?! I have been told they were British? Can anyone make out the hallmarks? Please help!
