Why is Little Larimar not a water gem?

Something that has always bothered me, is Little Larimar NOT being a WATER gem in the show.

In real life, Larimar is THE waterstone, as it looks exactly like the light reflections on blue water.

Every association to Larimar you read online is with water.

How did Rebecca come up with Little Larimar being an ice gem, when water would have been perfect? I mean Lapiz Lazuli could have been anything, but Larimar somehow can‘t.

Now i‘ve wondered what the thought process and reasoning could have been? It makes me so sad, it could have been SUCH a cool gem :,)

If you’re curious, the cuts of the diamonds are: yellow: table cut; blue: kite cut; pink: old european cut; white: brilliant cut

Additional gem cuts:
Peridot has a shield cut.
Emerald has an Emerald cut.
Aquamarine and Lapis are cabochon pears.
And the garnets (nonfusion) have baguette cuts.

Would amber have been considered a gem within the *Steven Universe* series?

I would have liked to see something like that in the series.
