Supergirl (2026)
Just saw the movie, I don’t see what all of the negativity is about. Must everything be a masterpiece now? It’s not terrible, it’s ok and Milly Alcock is great in it. My two cents.
Lenas season 4 experiment scene was a medical ethics nightmare imo
I know its a cw superhero show and you cant fully compare to irl but
That scene where she k*lls that like teenager trying to make people into superhumans was so psychologically coercive (& ofcourse medically strange) from a medical ethics pov
-First of all he looks like he's a teenager /at least young maybe just barely legal to consent
Psych: (these scenes that are meant to humanize Lena are all admissions she tried not to make at first due to the coercive nature)
-She tells him all about her private life & cries about her guilt about not saving her dead mother after he says he feels guilty about his brother increasing his desire to do the experiment
-She tells him how specially chosen he is
-to basically.. save the world
Yea to make her character like not a terrible person she gathers informed or what seems like informed consent from him a couple of times, she offers him money that would have been for regardless of if he continued or left the study, even tells him she's stopping the trial because
Medical/ human risk/ benefit/ burden of information/ decision:
- the risks are too high, now that she knows the kid...
-And that's the thing they projected a %15 medical risk of death told to him which she phrased as expiration (misleading language)
How did they get that we dont know but they only experimented with a handful of hearts? several of which died what was it like 1 became invincible yes we dont know what she was doing to him but
-Highly experimental study just saying the medical risk seems just..higher? & she says she excluded most of the applicants due to "risk tolerance" which we dont know in what context but if medically
-This guy/kid ALSO has medical issues of a kidney transplant who knows if that woulda have made it more dangerous
-thats the thing...risk /value means a lot of things theres their seemingly oddly low estimate of medical risk, immediate or long term risk , risk ACTUALLY adjusted for the person its regarding with their body, not just the average person anywhere..
the risk/value of this kid/young mans life..which is immeasurable
Yea she says no dude i want you to live (her a scientist adult to him a young sick guy) he's saying to her the potential benefits outweighs the risk now more he can like sacrifice (back) and he chose and they did it & it killed him
She gives the money to his family. He's a hero/ fallen angel in the episode theme
No disrespect to him or anyone irl obviously. He was a hero for sacrificing trying to save people but ultimately an uncessary sacrifice imo she had the knowledge & authority to guide him out of it even for a bit just to do more trials ideally, in this crazy excitement
also a fast one, one could argue it was about her tunnel vision about giving humans powers when there wasnt an immediate threat (yes pending maybe)
- also she reveals its HER study.. just so many things not best practice ofc
The way they wrote it was just cringe to me and did the opposite of character developing Lena to me
Who knows what other experiments could have been done instead. her conversation of risk in her position & lack of clarity & warning him then her bending to him so to make it ok because it's him... yes the agreement was made , worst outcome
Sad
Also he says its like..other things young mostly men do hoping to save the world at great danger to themselves..sometimes deciding when they are teenagers and the people presenting the danger & knowing more of it actually, are adults there too
Yes we dont know what Lena knew
But yea just a cringe cw scene imo
[Fan Art] Supergirl (Milly Alcock) - Digital Painting by Me (no A.I.)
Finally watched ‘Supergirl’ — and I want to focus on the positives, or positive - Milly Alcock 🤌
Milly Alcock is easily the best thing about ‘Supergirl’. Even though I don’t think the movie gives her nearly enough to work with, she completely owns the role. She nails Kara’s emotional messiness, trauma, vulnerability, and that fierce attitude that makes Supergirl such a compelling character.
My biggest frustration is that she doesn’t truly become ”Supergirl“ until the very end. I’m honestly tired of superhero movies spending almost the entire runtime building up to the hero finally putting on the suit instead of letting us actually enjoy them being that hero. Still, James Gunn absolutely got the casting right. Just like David Corenswet feels born to play Superman, Milly Alcock feels born to play Supergirl. I just hope the next movie ‘Man of Tomorrow’ gives her a much stronger story, because I genuinely think she has the potential to become one of the standout heroes of the DCU.
Honestly Melissa's Arms genuinely looking crazy in many fight scenes
Was watching the fight clip which was trending for some reason got distracted by her Arms
I honestly think she has the best physique I've seen for a DC actress.
I really disliked the movie :(
I've been a SG fan for years (like pre CW tv show) and I really really didn't like the movie. (I liked the end, more below). I almost walked out of it. I didn't read the reviews, but saw online that it was getting destroyed. I wanted to come to this community to discuss.
- I wanted to see the Supergirl movie, not the Ruthie movie. Or whatever Jason Mamoa's character was. SG was on screen for like maybeeeee 40-50% of the film?
- The first 40 minutes did not grab me at all. They should have started with the Krypton scenes - those were stunning and moving and set the stage (even for someone who knows a lot about Krypton/SG/SM etc).
- This was cannon divergent which was a bit of a surprise, but that's not really my issue. I really loved the idea of seeing this version of Kara - someone struggling to find her place, dealing with anger and hurt from the life she never got to live. I just think they completely missed the mark for 85% of the movie. I really wanted to see more of her adjusting to life on Earth. Clearly she continued to struggle which keeps driving her off planet - I want to see that. She has some distain for Clark - we should see that. I liked the literal moment of her in Metropolis. Said so much with so little.
- I recognize that it's a "superhero" movie, but the most recent Superman movie had more humanity in it around Clark and Kara deserved the same, especially this hard knock version of her.
- Off of that, there was SO much violence. Like almost unnecessarily so? Not to gender stereotype movie goers, but I'm curious who this film was for. This felt like a man's action movie with a female at the center. There was just like so much violence and I really don't understand why.
- This all starts because she needs to save....her dog? Now I get that Krypto is the last thing she has of her family and her life on Krypton. But couldn't there have been a better / stronger inciting incident to get her to kick ass?
- I did enjoy the last lets say 15 minutes of the movie. I'm not sure what everyone is referring to online about the "needle drop" moment (I think I know and if it's what I'm thinking, I liked it) but Kara finally came into her own, did her thing, and then was like ok.
I was thinking about this review while in the movie. As I said, the end got much better but I was really disappointed simply because I think it was a bad movie. Like the script, the story, etc. I thought Milly did a good job, I just wish she had more to work with.

SUPERGIRL FLOPS HARD WITH $68M WEEKEND - Is James Gunn's DC Era coming t...
youtube.comWhy is this show not trending?
The Supergirl movie is right around the corner but no one is watching this show. Why?
I know this show has nothing to do with upcoming movie and it's completely different. But, I've seen before that whenever something new comes related to anything people watch old stuff , even if it is not connected to new movie/show
For exampl Mortal Kombat old movies were trending in Stremio when new movie came out even though they are not related.
I was expecting more people would watch the show and maybe this sub would get active again lol. But it seems like no one cares about this show
Is it because CW Supergirl is not popular at all? It's like most people don't even know this show exists
Would Sasha Calle have been better Supergirl than Milly Alcock?
Her performance as Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers had a lot of potential.
Honestly Melissa's Arms genuinely looking in crazy in many fight scenes
Many times I heard some people here saying she's not muscular she's just using muscle suit or something but everytime she looks very Buff without the suit also
yeah I think in earlier season they used muscle suit but Melissa is also very muscular
