I am using S60tube and Coreplayer for Youtube streaming or downloading videos. The problem is it gives me 360p and 30 fps as one and only option and the phone is struggling 🥹 If I find a way to stream or download 144p and 15 fps it will handle it very well. I am converting movies from my computer and the phone is working excellent with Coreplayer if it is 144p, 15 fps but I can't convert them without my PC.
A little Symbian-era nostalgia with my Nokia N8, wired earphones, and TRON on the screen.
Still love the look and feel of this phone — the AMOLED display, 3.5mm jack, chunky design, and old Nokia interface have aged beautifully.
I feel like this exists, is there a file manager that will allow me to use SMB? I want to stream videos to my E7 from a home server (because why not). Any help would be great! I'm running Reborn CFW btw
I got the nokia x6 from a seller for collection. It says it is locked. I'm not sure what this is and how to remove it. Tried asking chatgpt and gemini, no use. If anyone here can help me out on this?
This is my primary device in the past "Nokia E90 Communicator" from 2007 and Fire Emblem game (GBA) by Vbag emulator.
This device used CPU dual core speed 332MHz and good enough for everything you want.
Get back to decade ago I can use this device to everything : call, listen to music and FM radio, camera, e-mail, read website/webbord on web browser, and transfer money (e-Banking).
Just bought it and super pumped! Helio Ocean from 2007. About to mod the heck out of this thing so I can use it like a real phone again! Let me know if anyone has any idea how to mod this thing LOL
Edit: is there a way to do it without changing the software so it still operates like it's original design? I want to pay someone, not do it myself.
I am in the US but I plan on moving over to the UK in December indefinitely if that makes any difference. I am fine with modding it here and getting it modded over there if I need to. Like I said, this will be my life long phone for sentimental reasons.
I still daily used this device "Nokia 9300" for some call and most listen to music but GSM signal in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand is not coverage all of area like 2 decade ago.
Hi,
I’m trying to recover a Nokia N97 mini (RM-555) that was soft-bricked after flashing mixed firmware.
Phoenix detects the phone in Dead USB mode, but Refurbish fails because it requests this file:
RM555_RM553_102_000_M012_8G.fpsx
I cannot find this file in any firmware package.
Does anyone have the complete RM-555 firmware package that includes this file, or know how to restore the phone in this state?
Thanks in advance.
I accidentally soft-bricked my Nokia N97 mini (RM-555) while flashing firmware in Phoenix by mixing two different firmware packages.
The phone still gets detected in Dead USB mode, but I’m stuck during recovery:
In Phoenix, Software Reset starts writing firmware to the phone, but the process stops because the device rejects it, saying the firmware is older than the current one, even though I’m using the latest clean firmware files.
Refurbish mode does not work because Phoenix requests a file called: RM555_RM553_102_000_M012_8G.fpsx I cannot find this file in any firmware package.
I also tried JAF, but it fails due to a dongle key error, and the PKEY emulator cannot find JAF.exe even though it is in the correct folder.
Has anyone managed to recover a device in this exact state or knows how to get past this firmware/file issue?
Any help would be appreciated.
We all know the Internet Archive has a list of Nokia BB5 firmware but there's no way to actually download any file from there.
Today I came across this website: https://www.mobilgyujtemeny.hu/download?dir=Firmwares%2FNokia%2FNokia+BB5 It has a similar list of files available and they are all available to download! You don't need to sign up any account and there's no ads either.
This is not my website. I'm sharing it because I believe it might be helpful for some people.
(Edit: I just learned that you need to simply sign up an account with the Internet Archive to download from there: https://archive.org/download/Nokia_BB5_firmwares)
Some of you might remember 'm', an old programming language that you could write and run directly on your device using mshell like pys60, It came with libraries that gave you access to the device's built in features.
I recently found the files in my old box account, including the tutorial pdf and example codes. You can feed them to Claude Code and have it generate new apps, games, and other projects based on the language for all symbian devices.
I've linked the archive repository below.
I love typing on the keyboard and 3g still works in my country so i can use it for messaging and calls
Hi, I’m looking for people who share my passion for old mobile phones. Since these devices usually don’t run WhatsApp or similar apps—and because I’m a fan of SMS—I’d love to connect with others who want to stay in touch regularly using the various communication methods these older phones and smartphones offer (SMS, email, legacy chat clients). I use various BlackBerrys and a Nokia E72 (:
I lost the Nokia E65 CD (the one that came in the box), and I can't find it on archive.org or other websites. Does anyone have it here? If you have it, please dump it and upload it to archive.org, as it would be great for other people like me that are searching for this CD.
so i just got this ili doodad from a phone store lot, it seems to be a engineering prototype, but it has a lock code. and YES i have tried 12345 and all of those commonplace passcodes bun nonofem worked :/ i tried the hw reset combo and YES it worked, asked me to make a new passcode, and once i retyped it, i got a code error message. also the hands boot screen isnt there lol. any help would be much appreciated.
With Symbian Firmware Translation Toolkit ripped over 11.000 unique lines of text from resources in English. I found that some words are context-dependent. My mind is 💥 🤕 today.
Replacing words with longer ones in Belarusian done over month ago. Small fixes, optimization for speed RSC decompiler and toolkit itself. So loong time spent 💥
Happy weekend!
