David Byrne has a new book coming out - Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up

I was fortunate enough to have the chance to read an ARC (advance reader copy) for Davids new book, Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up

While it was not necessarily content I would reach for (I am more of a fantasy or horror genre reader), or anything I knew much of anything about (this book was quite informational at its core), I thoroughly enjoyed everything I learned!

It probably it helps that I have heard David Byrnes voice enough in my lifetime through music/movies/interviews, that when reading it I had an internal narration of in his voice, like my own personal audiobook.

If you love David Byrne and are curious to learn about something new, this was a great read! It will be coming out in Late October :)

"Dave Byrne Explains How The Velvet Underground Impacted His Songwriting" — Article by Far Out Magazine

“The Velvet Underground were a big revelation. I realised, ‘Oh, look at the subject of their songs: There’s a tune and a melody, but the sound is either completely abrasive or really pretty’. They swing from one extreme to the other [...] No surprise I was a big fan [of Lou Red], and his music, with and without the Velvets, was a big influence on myself and Talking Heads. He came to see us at CBGB numerous times, and I remember three of us going to visit him at his Upper East Side (!) apartment after one of our very early gigs there. His work and that of the Velvets was a big reason I moved to NY and I don’t think I’m alone there. We wanted to be in a city that nurtured and fed that kind of talent.” - David Byrne.

Outtakes&Alternative Versions of the Eno era

Hi There

Going back through the Deluxe Editions due to Fear of Music getting an SDE in due to it’s anniversary so been going through the Deluxe editions of the band’s stuff with Eno which there’s isn’t much on the old Deluxe editions of Fear of Music and Remain in Light from ‘05 or ‘06 yet it’s all interesting stuff to hear and the ‘25 edition of More Songs About Buildings and Food is great especially some of those alternative versions.

So what’s your favorite outtake or alternative version of the Talking Heads-Eno era song(s)

I built an alternative social media for sharing music you love. Today, "Sugar on My Tongue" became the top most trending post!

Hey everyone! I love music and Talking Heads so much, as I'm sure many of you also do. I have always felt that sharing the music I love and what I was listening to is the best way to express myself and show who I really am. I felt like there were others out there who felt the same way, so I built a new kind of social media called Corus, that is not about images/reels/selfies, but instead the music and art you love. You curate your profile and follow others like Instagram and get recommendations based on your taste.

Today one of the best Talking Heads songs is the top track! "Sugar on My Tongue" was shared by an amazing user you should all follow named sufyansleepins and the love came flowing in. The caption is hilarious too. Is this the sexiest talking heads song?

On the app there's a Talking Heads page and you can find the other 76 peoples who have also posted TH, which is really cool. If you join you can follow those people to get started. Come and share your favorite tracks with us and hopefully you’ll find something new in the process. <3
