Sunshine Tomorrow ☀️

Sunshine Tomorrow ☀️

Hi There

Currently going through Sunshine Tomorrow again and in turn Wild Honey which I remembering why I love Wild Honey sm 🍯

It’s a good stereo mix still and I love the sound of this album which is still a Brian production but it’s more lo fi since the home studio in Bel Air was being built nonetheless it’s still a nice album with beautiful Carl vocals :)

I do like the studio outtakes and songs that are only backing tracks, the highlight instrumentals, and alternate versions even if I don’t like all of it. All and all the session stuff is good for any fan of Wild Honey like me!

Edit:The Smiley Smile sessions are included here which is also great.Plus Sunshine Tomorrow 2 which features some more smiley smile and wild honey stuff(still all good stuff)so these 2 albums complete a puzzle of sorts :)

Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic

Hi There

Going through the Rave era with the album itself and various interviews but currently going through In2 since it’s the preferred version by Prince which I think is a correct statement.

In2 is great! With good remixes,Beautiful Strange being added to the track list, and the segues being taken off so it’s a very good listening experience 👍

Remembering Tom Kane 🕊️🩷🩵💚

What a shock to hear 🕊️😞

What a legendary voice actor who meant to so many people especially the kids growing up that knew him from Powerpuff Girls and Star Wars mainly but so much other great work too!

Chocolate Invasion + Slaughterhouse

Hi There

So what’s the thoughts on these albums?

Havent gave these a listens in a while but I’m adding them to a post Rave* HM Buff engineered on type playlist which I already used some these songs for a hypothetical High playlist too so these albums have good music on them :)

I probably like Slaughterhouse more than Chocolate Invasion since it feels more like an album than leftovers from High and unreleased songs on Chocolate Invasion yet the supposed High stuff is great!

Edit: I do wish Prince did a few more of these because I would love to have Splash,Van Gogh,Madrid2Chicago,or Breathe on a album like these tbh

*Did put Beautiful Strange on the playlist because it was on the remixed version of Rave which has a different track listing.

The Crispy Master Incarnations

Hi There

So what’s the lore behind this version of the master?

2 different actors in 2 episodes of Classic Who which were The Deadly Assassin and The Keeper of Traken so did this master appear any Big Finish stuff besides the 2 episodes because Peter Pratt gave a good performance through that mask tbh and Geoffrey Beevers gave a good performance in not a favorite 4th era story tbh.

There’s couid be more I’m missing then their respective episodes but these set of incarnations of The Master is a bit of a blind spot for me as a Who Fan.

AIR Studios,Montserrat 🌤️

Sir George at Montserrat,AIR Studios🇲🇸

So many great artists recorded in this location including Paul for Tug of War and what was held for Pipes of Peace but many other great albums too like Ghost in the Machine,Synchronicity,Junk Culture,Too Low for Zero,Quartet, and many more.

Sad that nature has ruined this once beautiful place but I believe there’s a great documentary about Montserrat and a concert that Paul did in the 90s? For Montserrat too :)

The Creeper 🟢💛

Hi There

Found this on Pinterest and I swear I’ve seen this before from either a DC book or a Watchtower Datebase video but this looks really interesting and that figure itself is great which might be my favorite Kenner BTAS/TNBA figure :)

It’s a interesting rabbit hole though DCAU forums seeing how this character came together and why the Creeper came to the DCAU through TNBA 👍

Never Let Me Down 🔥

Hi There

Anymore NLMD fans out there in the BowieVerse?

The Loving the Alien box really made me appreciate this album more with its reimagining of the album which probably made Bowie happy since he did want to redo the whole album but the actual remastering of NLMD is great too so there’s that too with not everyone like the reimagined songs.

It’s not my favorite 80s Bowie album(mine is Scary Monsters) but Never Let Me Down isnt half bad like Tonight which glad Tonight wasn’t like a Let’s Dance 2 tbh so really all in all Never Let Me Down could’ve been worse but there’s some nice stuff in there.

Yoko and Jack Douglas

Rest in Peace to Jack Douglas 🕊️

So should Yoko now put Jack Douglas on Milk&Honey as producer to give him credit?

It’s the right thing for Yoko to do now since he’s gone now right? I think he should be credited since he ran the sessions for John’s songs that landed on M&H so why not just give him credit?

Yoko is probably going to do that even though Jack did sue her for royalties for Double Fantasy back there so why not just credit him here on Milk&Honey.

John Lennon producer Jack Douglas dead at 80

2 days late but still a shock to me so hope and prayers to Jack’s family 🙏🏻🕊️

Jack worked with so many artists and had so many great stories to tell especially with his time spent with John&Yoko in 1980 for those DF and M&H sessions.

I gotta go back to those great interviews that Warren Huart did with Jack because those are some well done interviews so please share your favorite stories about Jack Douglas (if you have any) or a favorite song/album produced by Jack Douglas

One Nite Alone turns 24!

Hi There

So what’s your thoughts on One Nite Alone?

I’ll give this a listen today since I skipped when i started my listening of his albums months back but this album gives me The Truth vibes tbh.

Like the Truth,it’s mostly stripped back but still having vocal effects, synths, and John Blackwell featuring on 2 tracks as the drummer but One Nite Alone is a still simple and beautiful album with some powerful moments 🕊️🎹

Shoutout to Divinity and Majesty, the Doves for appearing on Arboretum for “ambient singing”

Milk&Honey’s Sound&Production 🌷

Hi There

Idk what to really title this one except for including the sound/production of John&Yoko’s Milk&Honey album 💿

Obviously John didnt get to finish his album but Yoko finished it with help from engineers credited in the linear notes which they did a good job editing and tightening up the John songs and adding echo to the vocals which isn’t no ADT but it’s something that screams John.

Shame Jack Douglas wasn’t credited for the sessions that produced John songs bc these are great to good songs with Flower Princess being the only good song from John here plus that DF band is great playing these songs(wish Yoko didnt rerecorded her 1980 songs with her Rainbows band) especially with being a loose and live type feeling:)

Is this Flash,Barry in speed demons?

Hi There

So is the Flash we see in Speed Demons is Barry or was it always Wally?

I don’t know if this was ever confirmed but I feel like this was Barry we see in STAS not Wally even if he acts unlike Barry or whatever’s and I do feel like there’s a tie in comic that maybe confirms Barry is Flash in the STAS universe.

60s Kinks behind the times?

Hi There

Did the Kinks fell a bit behind the times in the 60s?

Something Else and Face to Face are fantastic records but probably not with the norm when they were released and same thing with Village People in ‘68 where it was a back to basics approach yet Village Green is baroque and English.

I mean Arthur is great 60s Kinks album especially when it’s a ‘69 album which jumpstarted their great early 70s run of albums so yeah Arthur seems like the only one that was there in the norm for the band 🤷🏻‍♂️

The “Kubrick” Cut of EWS

Hi There

I doubt it but is there a so called Kubrick cut of Eyes Wide Shut?

Apparently there’s “lost” 20-24 minutes to Eyes Wide Shut which leads to so many theories about the suits hiding the truth about what Kubrick wanted to exposed and etc which I highly doubt it that there’s like a “Kubrick” out there.

Now that Kubrick is known for his editing of his films and EWS could’ve been different if Kubrick did more edits so maybe that’s a reason this whole thing started yet I wasn’t alive when Kubrick first presented the “first cut” to the suits so it’s just a guessing game after seeing all the testimonies from the people that worked on EWS or knew him.

Mick Ronson’s Arrangements 🎼

Hi There

What’s your thoughts on the arrangements done by Ronson or favorite arrangement done by Ronson?

Listening to a Ken Scott interview with Red Bull Music Academy and he mentioned Mick on how he cussed like a sailor, how he was a good musician, and his arrangements which the latter got me thinking about his arrangements that either were string or brass based on Bowie’s songs or albums or related songs or albums in the BowieVerse.

I went down a rabbit hole of researching this one and Life on Mars with Changes are the well known ones but his arrangements on Five Years,Soul Love, and Rock N Roll Suicide are great on Ziggy.Sea Diver is a great horns and brass arrangement for Mott the Hoople.

Any Proto Gorillaz in Blur songs?

Hi There

So is there a song(s) that sounds like a Gorillaz song?

Now I’m mostly thinking about think tank here because it’s right around Gorillaz being created and some of the songs were scraps(that I heard of) and the ones don’t have Graham on them since he changes the sound entirely so like Crazy Beat and Ambulance come to mind but I’ll have to listen back to Think Tank tbh.

Michael’s HIStory era

So what’s the thoughts on HIStory?

Now this all stems from Scream and hearing/reading about Jimmy Jam working with Janet and Michael with how he wanted Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to work on Dangerous but couldn’t.

So now I’ve been re going through the era now like the tour(a fav MJ tour)and the MTV awards where M&J got best video for Scream. So the album is half greatest hits and half new songs which disc 2 is freaking great so that’s the only thing I’ll listen to because well it’s new Michael material! :)

Great if there was any available outtakes from this era besides the one or two songs out on BOTDF.
