The Killing

Hi There

Should I watch the Killing?

I might do a watch run of his filmography and I don’t know if I should start from the beginning or start from StrangeLove?

I’ve seen earlier stuff here and there never fully finished but the Killing has always been a film that I’m interested about especially with its film noir style, wonderful cinematography(common love in his films),and it gives off early b&w Hitchcock.

Goodnight

Hi there

What’s the opinions on Goodnight?

This is a beautiful song with a lush production and quite wonderful Ringo vocal which is fitting for this song to close out the White Album for all its chaos and drama this song makes you feel good about this album especially when Goodnight comes after Rev.9 in the track list.

This lush production is really great and the orchestration by George Martin(also plays celesta here) makes the song feel so beautiful when it’s already sung as a lullaby by Ringo.

John Barry’s James Bond music 🎼

Hi There

What’s the thoughts on the overall work of John Barry’s music in the James Bond franchise?

I quite enjoy his music and his non Bond music is great like Chaplin but his Bond music is tricky since I would separate his different “eras” of Bond music so From Russia to Love through OHMSS as early Barry Bond,Diamonds are Forever through Moonraker being the middle period of Barry Bond, and finally Octopussy through TLD being later era Barry.

It’s hard to really say what I like and dislike in his bond scores since every score offers something different to that film but I love his music to YOLT,OHMSS,Moonraker,Octopussy, and TLD

John Barry’s Sounds of Bond

Hi There

What’s the thoughts on the overall work of Barry with Bond’s Music?

Personally I’m a lover of his music as a whole so non bond and bond work yet I would now separate his different “eras” of Bond music so From Russia to Love through OHMSS as early Barry Bond,Diamonds are Forever through Moonraker being the middle period of Barry Bond, and finally Octopussy through TLD being later era Barry.

It’s hard to really say what I like and dislike in his bond scores since every score offers something different to that film but I love his music to YOLT,OHMSS,Moonraker,Octopussy, and TLD

Favorite Phase?

Hi there

So Phase 2 and 3 has some best of Gorillaz music yet the whole aesthetic of 1-3 is still so cool especially with phase 1’s art style being my favorite.

Lodger&Scary Monsters

Hi There

These are 2 similar sounding albums right?

Lodger has Eno which connects with the Berlin Trilogy but again Lodger has that Scary Monsters type sound even if it’s more world music with New Wave and Post Punk than Scary Monsters.

Fripp definitely makes Scary Monsters be the album that it is with his guitar playing on top of Visconti and Bowie making this album their”Sgt Pepper” yet I can still connect some similarities sonically with Lodger!

Pepperland by George Martin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qjo8FmSzS5s

Hi 👋

Love classical music and film scores mostly due to George Martin and his music on Yellow Submarine which his Pepperland suite is such a delight to hear 👂

I’m glad Pepperland suite was included in his Produced by George Martin box set because the classical side of him was very important to the Beatles music 🎼

Best ‘67 Brian contribution?

Hi There

What’s your thoughts on ‘67 Brian or just a favorite contribution from him this year?

The Recorder and Piano on Ruby Tuesday is the first one that comes to mind and apparently he came up with the melody so if true then that’s awesome! His other parts of instrumentation on Between the Buttons is great and adds to the baroque sound of the album.

Satanic Majesty’s has some peak Brian contributions* and mostly his Mellotron playing stands out especially on like Another Land and 200,000 Light Years from Home

*Gomper has him playing so many instruments on this one like sitar!

Critters

Hi There

Thoughts on Critters?

I need a rewatch of this one and really TNBA as a whole but those first impressions were,” mhm well this was an interesting episode?” Critters wasnt that bad but it definitely left me feeling odd tbh.

Farmer Brown was a interesting character and his daughter Emmylou too because it feels like these are out of place characters we see in TNBA but the concept of Critters are good and the design of his creatures are well done.

Fav deep cut from Kate Bush?

So what’s your favorite deep cut/or non album cut?

Going back to Kick Inside from a AIR Studios rabbit hole and whoa it’s a great album from her and from the 70s so now I’m going back to her deep cuts or lesser known songs.

So far I like Kite and The Saxophone Song from previously mentioned Kick Inside,The Kiss Inside,Mother Stands For Comfort,In the Warm Room, and Leave it Open

NPG’s New Power Soul!

Hi There

So what’s the thoughts on New Power Soul?

I need a relisten but first impressions were that I really liked this album especially coming from the NPG and their music yet it’s probably one of Prince great late 90s album for sure!

I believe this came after Crystal Ball and The Truth and before Rave so right at the end of the 90s which idk I kinda liked what he was doing with his music plus this album is great front to back for sure to me at least:)

NPG Hornz 🎷

Hi There

Opinions on the NPG Hornz?

Getting into Prince’s NPG stuff more through his own albums and side projects on the NPG label plus using use of the NPG so the Hornheadz popped up and now I’m curious about their work.

2 different lineups so different names the NPG Hornz and Hornheads which many great records that they playing on so any recommendations on what I should pick up or listen to fearing the Hornz on the lineup?

Live and Let Die

Hi There

So what’s the thoughts on the score of Live and Let Die by George Martin?

First major non Barry score and it’s a good soundtrack by George Martin on up of he teaming up Paul on his song/title track of Live and Let Die which is a great song and a favorite Bond theme song.

Already had experience producing the theme songs for From Russia to Love and Goldfinger and great producing there from 1960s George Martin so I’ll have to listen to his score for Live and Let Die tho.

Xscape

Hi There

17 years ago today 🥺🕊️

Xscape feels like a 2010s Michael album if he was alive and if he worked with Timbaland minus a few vault tracks where he works with that producer to finish the song yet all the revamped songs with La Reid and Timbaland are good with probably Chicago,Blue Gangsta,Loving You,and the Title Track.

Now the Deluxe version is where it’s at since it’s featuring Michael’s original versions are all of them are great tbh since Michael mostly being Michael vocally with sounds and all but I do love his original versions of A Place with No Name,Slave to the Rhythm, and Blue Gangsta

So do you like the Timbaland&Reid Remixes or Michael’s Originals?
