McCartney II in the aborted 1980 tour?

So, clearly Coming Up and Wonderful Christmastime got played during the Glasgow show. I think I saw a setlist of the 1980 tour but never knew how reliable it was (I think Uncle Albert was rumored to be in it?)

My question: what songs would they have played from McCartney 2, aside from Coming Up? Lawrence Juber turning Temporary Secretary into a Spanish guitar song? Waterfalls? One of These Days? On the Way? Mr. H Atom? :)

Gave New and Egypt Station A Listen Today

I liked New, found it a really good listen. Is it his best? No, but it's a solid 6.5. The ballad vocal on the last 3 minutes of isn't good but I liked it.

Egypt Station isn't as good. But it's a 5. Nothing offensive. I kind of like Fuh You, good tempo. He could have culled 3 or 4 songs from the album, but it's ok.

The issues I have with the 2 albums, is I hear the same piano and bass lines going back 30 years. Second, it's seems like he's talking about finding the love of his life. As if, he's justifying marrying Nancy and writing her love songs. Third, it's nothing original, or groundbreaking, but pleasant. Nothing really Beatley about either.

Good walking music. Will listen again and see if they kick in.

'The Boys of Dungeon Lane' — Global Parties 🐦‍⬛

Hey everyone,

The Fireman

Paul's experiment as the 'Fireman' has always intrigued me. Although I've listened to a few songs, I've never had the chance to delve deeper. What's the general feeling around here?

Paul’s SNL Performances

I’ve noticed some interesting takes on Paul’s recent performances.

Either:

A: People say his voice is bad and it’s hard to watch

B: People say there’s nothing wrong and we should be grateful that he’s still playing.

I think there’s truth to both of these things. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with acknowledging how poor his voice sounds on certain songs (like Band on the Run & Coming Up on Saturday) since he’s choosing to still be a performing artist. At the same time I don’t think he should stop playing music…it’s the only thing he knows and has ever done and people are still heavily affected by his presence.

My issue is that Paul has to know there are certain songs that simply don’t sound good anymore…I think at the VERY least he could try to do a key change to some of the ones he struggles with. If it doesn’t work then that’s fine, but at least give it an attempt.

That doesn’t mean I’m not grateful a living legend still plays or that he should stop doing the only thing that gives him purpose in life…he still knows how to write solid songs. I don’t understand how it’s an argument where sides are picked because there’s truth to both.

Curious to hear any thoughts tho!
