I personally think Off the Wall (song) has his best intro. I don’t even think this is debatable either. You could really say this is one of the best intros ever too. The main thing that makes people over look this intro is the laugh but if you really listen to the vocal harmonies and instruments you’ll see why I think it’s the best.
Hello everyone! This is my unfinished cover of Beat It from Michael Jackson. I couldn’t wait to share some of it with you guys! I’ll upload the full version as soon as possible.
to be hones, my favorites are rock with you, heaven can wait bad Billie Jean and don’t stop till you get enough which I’m listening
get closer,
keep up with forces stop, dont stop till you get enough
The song, written by keyboardist Steve Porcaro (with John Bettis rewriting the verses) and produced by Quincy Jones, became a top 10 hit in the US, reaching number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached number two on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and is certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA).
Do you think it was the right move to replace Carousel with Human Nature?
Just like what Michael did, I want to be the second music artist to own Sony Records (or at least a good chunk of it). When I heard about what Michael was able to do under the record company, I was in awe. That man bought the catalogue of The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and Little Richard. If not Sony Records, Universal Music Group. That man owned the mastering of his own music and others music too. He was also about to buy out MARVEL STUDIOS TOO! So idk what he did to make all that possible, yet I want to try it out for myself.
It's really striking how well-crafted posts, with good information, facts, invitations to participate, etc., get practically no engagement. But if someone posts a photo, or asks questions like "What's your favorite Thriller song?", they get tons of comments. Curious, that's all.
I’d go with Dirty Diana, Bad, The Way You Make me Feel
Using this Bojack Horseman quote to explain the topic 😄 Was trying to post this in the main sub, but posts there remain waiting for approval for ages, I am not sure why 🥲
Basically, I love it when an artist mentions a song inside the lyrics of another song, I find it cute and I feel like it's a wink to the listeners, like "did you see what I did there?" lol
I like it 'cause it feels like it's creating a connection between different songs through that little nod and giving birth to a sort of cinematic universe. So I was looking to see if Michael did that and I found a few examples, but wondering if there are more:
Do you have other examples that come to mind? Did he do this elsewhere? It could be song titles mentions, lyrics mentions or plots mentioning, anything really I am interested to know. It doesn't have to be obviously intentional, for example the "you thrill me baby" I don't think was intentional, but I count it because "thrill" is not a verb I hear often, so I associate it with him.
Thanks!
I went into this album with similar expectations to those I had for Dangerous. I actually had higher expectations for Dangerous, but that one positively surprised me. I was open to the idea that that would happen with Invincible, but there were also no specific songs I was looking forward to, so I didn't really know what I was in for. Me and a friend listened to it at a park, with alcohol, and a ball, and though the main activity was to listen to the music, I thought that my best bet was to just let the music play, instead of forcing myself to listen.
The track I was most excited for was actually the opener, because it was the longest, and featured The Notorious B.I.G., as well as the fact that I like intros. As nice as his style is, B.I.G.’s verse didn't do much for me, on its own, though I really liked how it was integrated into the song, and felt it gave the track texture. I felt similarly about Heartbreaker - me and my friend both really appreciated the glitchy production, and hoped this would last the whole album. The title track, similarly, was dope, and very fun to listen to. Three for three.
Over the course of the album, there were a few standout moments. I liked how songs like Break of Dawn, Butterflies or Speechless were slower, and more balladic, whilst still having that fast-paced Michael Jackson production. You Rock My World was, at the time, both mine and my friend’s favourite song on the album. This was mainly to do with the production, but also the way it was integrated into the overall track. I think this album is a little bit carried by the production, but Michael’s voice was still fire. This dynamic has been present for the entirety of his solo career proper.
One more track I'd like to draw attention to is 2000 Watts. It really felt like Tabloid Junkie, and I liked it for the same reason. I feel again as though I would get more out of this album if I relistened, but I can't say I feel the need to prioritise it over other Mike albums. Even Dangerous, I would rather listen to, though I enjoyed Invincible, and wouldn't mind listening to it a second time. I think what it would take would be for me to leave this month as a bigger Mike fan. After listening to the Beatles, I couldn't shake them, and kept listening to them into this month. If that happens with Mike, I could see an album like Invincible getting more love from me, but that won't be until I've really rinsed Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad.
I've had a good time with Michael Jackson, and look forward to taking individual songs with me into my future. All of my favourite songs are still the ones I already knew, with Billie Jean being at the absolute top, but it was amazing hearing Dirty Diana and Chicago for the first time. Other favourite include The Way You Make Me Feel, Speed Demon and Doggin’ Around, but my favourite new addition has to be P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing). Next up, I'm doing Elvis Presley, which is gonna be intensive, because he has twenty-four studio albums, but I'm optimistic that I'm gonna find a few gems, and if I keep listening with friends, that gonna be a lot of good times.
The song by British rock band Wings, from their 1978 album London Town. It was written by Wings frontman Paul McCartney, who originally intended it to be sung by Michael Jackson. Jackson then covered the song the following year on his 1979 album Off the Wall with Quincy Jones producing it.
Michael’s recording omits the middle eight heard in McCartney's version.
The song, written, arranged, and co-produced by Michael Jackson (Quincy Jones) was written as early as 1983 and was among those considered for the Jacksons' Victory album. It was reworked and rewritten for Bad. The song was released as a single in Europe, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.
Would you have preferred to hear The Jacksons version of this song?
Mine is the title track of ‘Dangerous’. Just a pretty bland beat and breathy, spoken vocals that do nothing for me. Almost sounds like a throwaway, I was always so surprised it was the title track and album closer on an otherwise, classic album.
In the song "Heaven Can Wait", is there really no female vocalist singing the background? Specifically, the part: "Unthinkable, me sitting up in the clouds..."
Some say Janet. Some say Brandy.
Credits don't list them. I've heard people say that's Michael singing. Is it really??
Other background vocalists are Dr. Freeze (Elliot Straite) and Kenny "Que" Quiller.
Became the top 0.01 percent last month haha. Nice to see his audience numbers jump 150 million too!
"Ain't No Sunshine" is a song by Michael Jackson released as the first track from the Got to Be There album. It was released as a single on July 3, 1972, serving as the fourth and final single from the album. It's a cover of Bill Withers' song of the same name.
which one of yall are gonna get it to 1B before the end of the year? 👀
