One more in him?
I'm relatively new to this community, so I apologize if this has been previously discussed.
Does John Carpenter have another film in him? Maybe. Does he want to do it? Probably not.
Though, if he were to make one more film, what would you like to see?
I'd like to see him make a Western themed slasher. If anyone can pull it off, it's John Carpenter. It's no secret that the Western is his inspiration (he's often mentioned Stagecoach as one of his all time favorites), so it would be a nice way to top off his career. Heck, it wouldn't need to be a slasher even, but for him to do a full-on period piece Western that is a horror movie at the end of the day would be the ULTIMATE way to ride into the sunset. Wheter it's a slasher, psychological, ghost story, etc. it would be an awesome film to see happen. Will it happen? Not likely.
What would you all like to see him do as one last film?
Snake Plissken promotional images for the sequel of one of my favourite films Escape from New York (1981). Kurt Russell's anti-hero look, complete with the eye patch, leather trench coat and arsenal of weapons... It's one of cinema's most recognizable character designs.
How John brainstormed The Thing...
Kurt Russell maybe really did see The Thing?
I just happened to want to keep myself entertained by watching some trash tv, this clip appeared and I was like wtf?
Kurt even looks like Mac in one of the shots, I mean you cannot make this shit up.

The work Rob Bottin did in The Thing was pure genius!

This movie ages like fine wine. Happy 40th to my favorite movie. Thank you John!
All Systems SNAFU! The 1979 6th printing of the movie adaptation of John Carpenter's DARK STAR by Alan Dean Foster.
If anything possibly go wrong aboard the scoutship Dark Star, sooner or later it would. Now, in the twentieth year of the mission, destroying unstable planets, the ship and its crew were slowly and steadily falling apart.
After 20 years in space, isolation, and loneliness had left their mark. The four surviving crew members were bored beyond relief. Only an occasional bomb run or another of the inevitable malfunctions aboard ship upset the monotony.
Then, one day, Bomb #20 was primed, armed, and set to detonate...and suddenly life on the Dark Star became frantic.
