My Kurt Russell and John Carpenter autographs

Got these at Fan Expo Chicago this weekend. They were both very cool and nice! Unfortunately Kurt was signing tons of stuff that was constantly being slid over to him by staff so there wasn’t really much interaction with him but I got to speak a little bit to him when I had my photo taken with him. He touched my Shoulder, asked if I liked Snake (I was cosplaying him) and he liked my Snake ita bag, and that’s all that matters to me. I did get to speak to John more, I told him EFNY and EFLA were my favorite movies and I showed him my Snake ita bag and he was surprisingly impressed by it (lol). John called me “sweetheart” and I will never get over that (in a good way)

Production photos for deleted scenes in Escape from New York

Photo 1: Production photo from the deleted bank robbery intro. It is the only deleted scene from the movie that has ever been released.

Photo 2: An altercation between Snake and the “owner” of the theater.

Photos 3, 4, and 5: Snake fighting the ‘Indians’ after arriving at the World Trade Center.

Photo 6: The ‘Indians’ in the World Trade Center cooking a dead cat over a fire.

Photos 7 and 8: Snake running out of the World Trade Center with the ‘Indians’ chasing after him.

Photo 9: This does not depict the deleted scene but shows the Stewardess with bullet holes in her chest from the deleted scene of a Secret Service Man taking the door off the hinges and shooting the Stewardess with a rifle.

There are numerous deleted scenes for Escape from New York with the bank robbery intro being the only one released. We’ve only seen these deleted scenes from the script, the novelization, and a few photos. There are deleted scenes from the script that were never filmed but many were.

If anyone is interested in learning more about deleted scenes from EFNY, this fan site has a detailed page about all of them here

Has anyone gotten John Carpenter’s autograph at a con before? What was your experience like?

I’m going to Fan Expo Chicago to get Kurt Russell’s autograph and I’ve been considering getting John’s as well but I’m curious on how long the line is for him is and if I’d be better off pre-purchasing it if I’m wanting his autograph. I know some guests are easy to just get in line and purchase it right there but for more popular guests it’s a longer wait and more complicated process. Does anyone know what it’s like getting to meet him and get his autograph at a con?

Can someone show me what the glow up version looks like for Cloud Muse?

I can’t find an image of what it looks like anywhere. I’m thinking of pulling to get it along with a few pieces I liked from the new 4* but I’d like to know what the glow up looks like before pulling.

Escape from New York references in other media

There’s A LOT of Escape from New York references in media but here are a few notable ones.

Huntdown: A character resembling Snake flies down in a glider like in the movie and gives the player his gun called “Snake’s Tactical”. The Duke of New York can also be seen in his car with Romero in the background of a level. The game also has a character named Anna Conda who is likely inspired by Snake.

Bro Force: The game features a playable character who is a parody of Snake named “Snake Broskin”.

Music video for “New Lands” by Justice: Features a character who resembles Snake.

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi: Episode 12 features several references to 80s movies including a character’s grandfather dressed as Snake and also says “My friends call me Snake”.

Daicon IV Opening: Snake can be seen within a large crowd of characters.

Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy: The Character Hoss Delgado is a parody of Snake and 80s action movie characters as a whole. His design is specifically based on Snake’s outfit in EFLA and Ash Williams from Evil Dead.

Family Guy The Quest for Stuff: Snake is an unlockable character. This is also the only video game Snake appeared in officially which is both hilarious and very unfortunate.

Random fact: According to some leaks a Snake Plissken skin was going to be added to Fortnite but was canceled for unknown reasons.

Drumbeat Wonders’ shoes and Covenant of Time’s socks make an incredible combo!

They both have a space theme that go together well already but the purple gradient on the shoes that fade into Nikki’s legs look amazing on these socks! I love how it looks so much.

This is how I’ve been feeling about the new 4* outfit in the shop

I really love Lolita and other frilly fashion styles so I absolutely loved Song of Embers (especially the pink evo) and I considered it one of my all time favorite 4* outfits, but now I feel like Dream’s Silhouette has completely replaced it for me. I still use items from Song Of Embers like the collar and parasol though. I have no regrets buying it.

Managed to unlock recreation with Sasami without having her support card in my deck?

I decided to do a unity cup run with Mihono Bourbon just for fun and to complete daily tasks. I don’t have any of Sasami’s support cards in my deck but for some reason I’ve gotten her multiple times in those bonus support card events (idk what it’s called when you get the events from cards not in your deck) and I managed to unlock recreation with her. I’ve never unlocked recreation with someone who wasn’t in my deck before and I hadn’t even considered it possible before. Just thought this was interesting.

Your newborn daughter is an Umamusume and the three goddesses compel you to name your daughter after the last song you listened to. What’s your Uma’s name?

Idk if this has been down before but the idea popped into my head. This is basically the Araki method of naming characters.

New Escape from New York comic coming this fall

The subtitle is “Escape from Chicago” (ironic since Kurt Russell and John Carpenter will be in Chicago for Fan Expo this year). It’s being published by Mad Cave with Kyle Higgins as its writer and artwork by Val Rodrigues.

Here’s the descriptions of the plot that was given to ScreenRant:

Once you go in, you don't come out—unless your name is Snake Plissken! Plissken now survives as a coyote, smuggling people and contraband across the dangerous dead zones between prison territories like Chicago. It's a hard and bitter job. But when he's hired to extract a woman wanted by the city's warlord, Snake sees one more chance at redemption—or one more chance for the universe to kick his ass.

Can someone identify what company produced this cassette tape or is it just a random cassette with a custom label?

This is a cassette tape in the movie Escape from New York 1981. I’m curious if this was a regular blank cassette tape produced possibly in the late 1970s or early 1980s or if it was just a random cassette with a custom label made for the movie? I’ve tried figuring this out but couldn’t find anything about it. Thought I’d ask here.

I’m cosplaying the main character from this film and thought it might be cool to get this cassette tape to go with it.

I hate short female characters being hated and called pedobait just for being short.

Before I go into this rant I want to say first that I am a 4’11 woman. I’m pretty sure I stopped growing taller when I was 13 or 14 which is pretty normal for women. When I was a lot younger I was incredibly insecure about my height which originally spawned from a few interactions where I was disrespected and/or belittled because of my height. Later on I became more insecure when I noticed it seemed like every cool or tough female character in a game or anime was 5’5 at the shortest. I’m not insecure anymore and I’ve grown to love and be proud of my height but no matter what it’s always been disheartening that short/petite women are belittled, infantilized, treated as being weak, or even called pedobait.

I see a lot, and I mean A LOT of people who don’t seem to comprehend that women can just be very short and it’s really not that uncommon or unnatural. And that bleeds into how people view female characters who are short. As I mentioned before part of my insecurity when I was young came from the lack of strong/cool female characters who are short. It’s made me really happy that Frieren Beyond Journey’s End and Apothecary Diaries are very popular and mainstream anime that star female leads who are petite and short and are also badass and strong. But unfortunately I still see people who hate them for being short because they’re “pedobait” or “lolis” even though they are not at all. Lolis are meant to literally be children or resemble a child closely in more ways than just height. These characters are just short adults and shouldn’t be compared to children. It really enrages me to finally get good representation for short and petite women just for them to be belittled and seen as children like I’ve been.

Even when people are fine with their heights and defend them they still have to justify and explain why they are short, as if it’s completely abnormal and genetically impossible that an adult woman could be under 5’3.

“Frieren is only short because she’s still a teenager in elf years.” She has never been stated to be a teenager. Aside from JOKES not to be taken seriously she is usually treated as an adult by her peers. Also Serie is another elf that is as short as Frieren but is significantly much older than Frieren, she’s definitely not “still a kid” in elf years, she and Frieren are JUST SHORT WOMEN WHICH IS NOT ABNORMAL AT ALL. And also Himmel was an adult man in love with her and if she was technically a teenager that would’ve made him a creep.

“Maomao is only short because of all the poison she experimented with stunted her growth.” While I don’t deny that is possible have you also considered that her height is not that abnormal? There are plenty of women who are 5’0 like her. Just look up famous women who are short you’ll be surprised how many are.

I really hope more people in the future acknowledge and talk about how much disrespect there is for short women that I see from both men and women.

Snake Plissken’s gear illustrated by Japanese artist Koji Muta (牟田康二)

This is from an illustration series of famous movie characters’ weapons and gear called “Story Time Masterpiece Movie Introduction”(This is possibly a mediocre translation of the title) by Koji Muta. The series is featured on an online Japanese air soft gun store for some reason?

The series is very neat, I recommend checking it out if you’re a fan of classic action movies.

Random fun fact: In Japan Escape from New York is called “New York 1997”. Other countries use that title as well.

Did anyone else find Dean and Jess’s argument in S3 Ep9 kind of odd?

Maybe it’s just me but that scene felt like it was leading into Dean and Jess having a more heated rivalry than before based off of what Dean was telling Jess about how he “wasn’t running away anymore”. Afterwards their rivalry sort of fades away until their fight at the party and Dean just gradually gets less screen time. I guess he was just dramatically telling him off in that scene and that was all?

The only Uma’s casual outfit I can think of that was based off of something about their horse counterpart is Haru’s casual outfit with her blue overalls and bow on her ear likely being based off of Hello Kitty’s main design since the real Haru Urara wore a Hello Kitty mask and was often associated with the character. I’m very curious if there’s any other casual outfits based off of something about their irl counterpart.

On a random side note, I like to think Haru is a big fan of Hello Kitty and likes to wear overalls because of her.
