The Thing Won, But FInds Out He Has Competition In Conquering Earth

The thing manages to beat the crew of the outpost. Then hitches a ride back to america. Only to find out he's not alone on the planet with just the humans. Whether it can naturally see them or actually found out through assimilating one. It has managed to find out that earth is under a secret invasion from the ghoul aliens.

So the stage is set, does the thing manage to infiltrate the alien ghoul society and eventually rule over them and assimilate them. Or will the thing get its own "this isn't your planet to conquer" moment.

Why Does Old Country Have Access To Advanced Resources?

Was playing wardens and realized to myself that there's a focus that gives access to advanced components. When there actually isn't anything to use it for. Is there an underline game mechanic that uses excess advanced components or some soph tech old country gets taht I'm not aware of? Tbf, I've only played the warden path for old country, so this absolutely could be something I'm oblivious to. Also, I get the composite materials, because at the very least, you can use that for building artillery units. However advanced components just actually don't have a use. So it just seems like a pointless waste of time to get it.

Good Ways To Implement Marine Support?

Is this any good? Randomly found this and finally figured out it's a unit support team. So I'm thinking in what way could this be useful? Like what tactical advantage would I have if it's not for cutting off supply lanes? Because otherwise this is just opening up another front and really that just seems pointless. As I can only think this is possible if I have spare units. However, if I have spare units, then it'd probably be better to just keep them on the main frontline and simply continue hammering the hell out of the enemy with higher combat width. I guess this could be useful for fighting lands I don't have a land border with. When does that happen, though.

Power Armor Focuses Don't Make Sense For Macarthur Now

Just started playing macarthur after a while and found that they no longer have soph power armor by default. Then moved all the way down like more than 3 dozen focuses. Which kind of breaks the focus line now. There's 2 early focuses that give power armor research bonuses. one of them being a 1 year penalty reduction. Which kind of feels weird when get to any of the soph pa focuses. Since by the time you get to the point where those focuses matter, researching tech will take very little time. The difference for research boosts at that point is maybe several days. Where before it would have instead been like dozens and dozens of days.

So I think either they bring back soph pa tech for default. Which I don't think they wanna do, as they've explicitly said they wanna tone down how many nations have access to soph tech. Or they set back the default pa tech unlocked to power armor frame hardening. Which could make sense as that'll leave three pa techs to research which would align with the three total pa research boosts you get.

Personally, I would prefer mac to have soph pa tech by default or they need to revamp the tech system to make a 4 th tier. Since it's kind of weird that the narrative pits mac and the midwest bos as rivals, when mac doesn't have access to soph pa and somehow the bos does by default. Like I guess there are a good few events that award mac some soph pa, but it's not nearly enough compared to bos that could rush to t45 armor and mass produce soph pa while mac just has wasteland pa. Now the other solution here is to remove bos's access to soph pa. Which may work, since ata (a focus available decently early) is only superior to wasteland pa by a minor amount. Which could balance out with the soph pa mac gets from events.

7 Man Mech Inf Buff Actually Nerfs Them

I was very unhappy that they actually kept this. I specifically remember them making changes for an update for the purpose of synergy between decks. Well this change actually destroys synergy between armor and air decks and even sof and marine decks. Now you can't stack two squads in one black hawk. Now you can't stack three squads in one mtv. Now you can't transport mech inf in a marine or sof humvee. Which was actually kinda nice to have for quick assaults and couldn't be easily one shotted. Plus, now you can only fill two squads in a 20 house. This makes 9 man squads more appealing in comparison.

I'd honestly rather they reest this change, but I'm willing to bet this is a fairly niche complaint.

LCP MAX Looking For A Specific Pocket Holster

Need help finding a pocket holster that can fit a lcp max with the viridian laser and readydot optic. Im not very in the know when it comes to gun stuff. The most education I get is playing cod or battlefield and occasionally watching gun tubers on youtube. So I have no idea where to get a holster where ruger doesn't have a specific holster that fits the laser and red dot. The one I had the most hope for was hawg holster with the thumb activated pocket holster, but they too don't have a holster that fits the build I have. Is there some brand that can custom make holsters for your build? At this point if asking around on the net doesn't work. Then my next best solution is to ask my go-to gun store for advice.

LCP MAX Looking For Holster Fitting Viridian Laser + Readydot Optic

I've been looking around for a pocket holster that can fit a lcp max that's got a laser and readydot attached. I can't seem to find anything. I saw a post somewhere on another sub where a guy had a sticky holster, but apparently the smallest didn't fit and had to do some sort of custom. I'm not a well versed in the know sort of gun consumer, so I have no idea who to ask for this or where I could find it. If I can't find anything on the internet, my next best solution was to go to my go-to gun store and ask for advice on this.

New Game +?

If any madfinger devs see this, I'd really like to see some sort of new game +. I dont want to simply replay all the tasks I've already have access to. I'd like all the progress for tasks and regions get reset.

What I would like to see retained on a new game + is either the progress for vendors (at least for now because the time it takes to unlock rank 4 for banshee takes for ever) and/or our gear in our locker and on our person.

What can trigger a new game +? Idk, maybe after all tasks. Or maybe we can do it at anytime.

[MW2] Animated Menu Like BO1 For MW2 Ideas

So I've thought how interesting bo1's menu was and how it really hasn't been implemented as well. I'll say that as it's just true and even when my favorite game was actually mw2. However, these ideas are of course FAR too late. We've already gotten our mw2 remaster. Hopefully this could be implemented if they decide to remake mw2 like 343 is for halo ce.

So for me the most defining point about og modern warfare is its escalation in the story. Mw1 goes from sneaky raids on a boat, to a marines airborne assault, to the marines getting nuked, and then finally both the sas and marines trying to stop armageddon. With mw2, it's quiet day on a fob with the rangers, to slaughtering an entire airport of civilians, to russia paradropping several 10s of thousands of soldiers in america, to the capital being overan, the capital getting side nuked for emp effect, and then finally shepards betrayal with soap and captain price gunning for shepard.

So to reflect this, I think the way you can mw2's menu animated is having hte menu change with the campaign. It could start with you in a bunk with the menu options on the magazine you're reading. The sound of chatter, music, the occasional heli flying, and tanks rolling by. Hit new game and you hear sergeant foley call you over. Then when you stop just before playing no russian, your main menu will have you sitting in an suv with three other men. WIth makarov in the front driver seat or whatever. The menu will beon an ipad hacked into the security cams of the airport. You'll hear airport speakers announcing departures through the pad's speakers. You'll civilians chatter and walking about their day. You hit start, and makarov opens the do and says it's time. For wolverine, your at a briefing room in a base in america. There's a tv telling the news. Maybe there could be a hidden feature where you can change the channel and all the channels are talking about the invasion. You'll hear sirens going off. Staff fast walking in and out. Soldiers through the window jogging to duty. Jets screaming through the sky. Then you get to of their own accord and you're in a bunker. Explosions, tanks firing their cannons, radio going crazy, soldiers sobbing and yelling, and thuds shaking the bunker. Then you get to second sun, your in a room sitting in a corner and it's very quiet. Minimal lights maybeo nly done so through glowsticks. Soldiers trying to be as quiet as they can. Maybe one holding theirs hands to their mouth as they try to hold back crying. ANother simply sitting their in a catatonic state. Just staring at nothing. Maybe a third trying to peak around curtains to look through a window. Foot steps from unknown soldiers can heard outside here there.

Just some ideas I had. I wish devs would get creative for the smaller stuff like bo1 did for its menu.

[Spoiler] Why couldn't Light in the Yotsuba Arc figure out Who Kira Is?

A brief disclosure: I am not a huge death note fan. The last time I watched the series in full was more than over a decade ago. The most engagement I ahve with the series is with memes (columbo memes is my favorite) and seeing clips of the show (L accepting his death and asking if light ever didn't tell just lies is my favorite). If anything I've sometimes tried to distance my self from the series as I don't like stories where the main protagonist is the villain.

My question's main concern is that amnesia light, despite all the evidence to throw him off, should have always considered that he was light. I mean he could have definitely pursued the evidence that presented what seemed like more solid leads. However, I really don't think someone as smart as light wouldn't figure someway he could be kira. Any time any evidence from bad guy light to throw himself off would come to the forefront. Good guy light after taking it in, however, still consider that this may just be a red herring. It would have been fairly interesting to see both the main villain and the main hero be the literal same person. Both taking and active role in the plot. Although, I think the rivalry between L and light was the main concern and it's hard to argue against what is of course one of the most iconic duels in wits in contemporary fiction.

The question came to me about how different light, after losing his memories, was as a person. In fact, I think the most nostalgic I get for the series is seeing good guy light and L interact on genuine terms. On that note, I think when I was first watching the show I actually fell off for a bit when bad guy light returned. So anyways, It really made me think that maybe this version of light should have been considered an entire character on his own. So when he regains his memory, I've thought that it should have been considered to have a tragic note to it. As the good guy light is now dead, birthed and murdered by his self.

What Era Of Weapons Are We Expecting?

I mainly sk as I've made comments and posts about what guns I'd think would be cool to see in the game. However, I saw some push back that came from a certain mindset I couldn't exactly get. I was curious as to what kinds of weapons we're expecting to see introduced here. Do some of us just want only weapons that militaries have bought and put into service? Are we expecting something like og cod 4 weapons? Battlefield 4 guns?

Now personally, I would like to see the weapons we have access to reflect the kind of outfit we fight in. As pmcs I'd expect of course more bog standard guns (the safe buys). However, I'd also just as well expect to see more niche weapons we've seen come out in the past decade that do seem to have gained traction. Basically, I wanna see weapons that would reflect a hypothetical near future rather than a stale expectation of seeing the same guns we've seen the past few decades. So bullpups like the mdr, vhs, and maybe even the bullpup kit for ar15s. I'd like to see cz's new bren 2. Hk's line of piston ar15s (would love to make a short barrel m416 like from bad company 1). I'd like to see even more theoretical guns like we're seeing with the xm7 and russia and china's new attempts at the guns.

Then there's new ammunition, I'd like to see experimental stuff like polymer case ammunition. Like the ones we GD try to do with their bullpup in the ngsw trials. I'd like to see stuff like the 6.5 grendel. etc. etc.

I'd like this game to try new things and not use old guns we're already well acquainted with in games.

Books That Have Ex Gov/Military Factions As Cool As The Bad Guys

Hopefully this is the right place to look for books. Would really appreciate if someone could point in the right direction if not. This was like the only sub I could find in the first google page.

Felt like reading a post apocalypse book. I was hoping for something that's scifi. Now what I specifically wanna see is a faction in the story that is basically a ex government/military group. It doesn't necessarily have to be a group that directly splintered from the government like ex nevec. It could be a group of military troops like the brotherhood who who ex pre apocalypse government and now mirror the bad guy post apocalypse government faction. I'd just like to see a story of such a faction be bad asses the same way the bad guys tend to be in other stories. They don't have be necessarily goodie two shoe good guys, they can be morally grey, but in the end still align as morally good.

Cow Circle Near The Ground Zero Border

Not sure if it's just an easter egg or intentional as a serious location. However, here's a location named "cow mill" that has a dozen or so cows oriented in a circle around a hut or something. With it only around 450 meters from the ground zero border, it kind of makes me wonder if this really isn't a easter egg. Just incase the picture isn't working, the coordinates are 155/132 keypad 7.

Please Add The HCAR When We Finally Fight The Predator Or Something

.308 is nice, but if we we're really gonna fighting some other worldly monsters in this game. We gotta be using heavier ordinance. 30-06 in a fully automatic riflewill definitely give the predator something to think about.

Wasn't sure which flair to use for images, so hopefully someone can point me to the right one.

Does Weight Affect Grenade Throwing Distance?

Just had a bad case of missed tosses and now I wanna train and test throwing distances at the range. I was gonna find the cheapest grenades to try out the angles and distance. Only to realize the grenades have fairly different weights which made me wonder if that may affect throwing distance. I typically use m67 and that's the heaviest.

Gear Load Discussion

Saw another person posting about their gear weight recently and I was wondering if anyone else has their gear as heavy as me. I have a feeling the biggest source of weight that can be targeted is ammo, but I'm not really a big fan of big mags. For the most part I'm pretty married to how I've got my gear set up, so I'd just like to hear what criticisms people would have or what they do instead.

Honestly not sure if this belongs in general or not. The flair has screenshots in the name, so I assume the mods will delete improperly designated flairs.

[Fo3] Is There A mod To Make The Game Less "Unsmooth"

I have the goty version on steam and it seems like the game is unsmooth to put it awkwardly. It's like the fps is low or something. The game assigned me to ultra high, so would that have anything to do with it? I'm honestly unsure how to call it. I'm simply walking around the wasteland world and it feels like I'm taking micro blinks every half second.

[Fo3] None Of My Mods Are Working?

All mods are from nexus and managed by vortex. Game version is goty from steam. Pic 1 is my load order or at least what the search address I found said would take me to. Pic 2 is the screenshot of the mod list in vortex.

First time playing fallout 3 on pc and it seems like none of my mods are working. I primarily wanted to play with survival damage and the fnv hardcore mod with thirst, hunger, and sleep conditions. I play through the intro, exit into the wasteland, and it seems like the only thing that actually made it into the game was the iron sights mod. Where you can aim down the sights (btw wouldn't mind pointers for a better mod that does that on nexus). Now it didn't work with the bb gun portion of the intro, so I thought maybe that's just the bb gun. However, when I got out of the vault and pulled the beginner pistol out, it of course wasn't working. It was glowing white as if there's some sort of texture issue as displayed with pic 2. The hardcore mod seems have everything working accept for the thirst, hunger, and sleep statuses that you'd see in the pip boy. All the added items are present and food actually display the thirst and hunger stats. As for survival, I haven't checked but considering the problems with the other mods, I'm thinking it's best to assume it's not working. If requested I will see about going out and getting in fights, but considering I haven't played f3 in a very long time I don't know how much that'll help.

To be fully lay out possible problems that maybe relevant. There was a different problem where the game wouldn't launch properly. I'd hit the play button on the little menu that pops up for the game. A window for the game would pop up, the screen turned black, and then it just crashes and closes itself. Looked up a solution and it seems like taking the ini file from the documents and putting it on desktop actually fixed it somehow. Currently have it in a folder next to f3 on desktop with a name describing the issue. No idea if this problem is related to the mods, but there's that.

Would really appreciate the help.

[FNV] Is There A Mod For Pacifying Hostile NPCs?

tldr; I am asking if anyone knows about a mod that can pacify/subdue hostile npcs. Hopefully one that can checkmark quests when it requires npcs be killed.

Was dreaming a random dream and suddenly starting hearing trigun music. Immediately within the dream I got a huge desire to somehow emulate the humanoid typhoon in fallout new vegas. I know a pacifism playthrough is possible, but by the word of mr vash the stampede and for the good word of love and peace. I gotta find a way how to not kill people and try to pacify hostile npcs, so friendly npcs dont kill them and the quest considers the situation resolved. Now I'm saying this is 100% adherence. By the end of trigun even vash no longer adheres to his ways 100% and starts following his own path. Meaning I will be killing especially evil villains and bastards. Plus, sometimes I willl fail and friendly npcs will kill hostile npcs. Regardless, I gotta try.

My idea and example is the quest ghost town gunfight. My idea is simple. I need a way to either scare off hostile npcs or maybe wrestle them into submission somehow. I'd figure shooting their gun could do a major part of the heavy lifting.

If anyone's interested, if I somehow do pull this off. I plan on a few specific skills and perks. First, I'm setting my self at the very least at level 20. 100 science, 100 guns, decently high speech at maybe 60 or as low as 50, and somewhat high sneak at 70 or 60. I'll figure it out for the last 10 levels, but everything else is gonna be comparatively low. As for perks I'll likely grab the ones that gives you bonuses while wearing light armor. Then the various perks that assist with combat prowess like run n' gun and gunslinger. Of course, I'm getting child at heart and robotics expert. As for special points I'm thinking I'll start with average strength, high perception, high endurance, low very low charisma, very high intelligence, above average agility, and low luck. if you got any critiques, let me hear them.
