Something that has always bugged me about BR:

Something that has always bugged me about BR:

People keep trying to put an exact science to BR for w/e reason. The movie is fictional and needs a suspension of disbelief.

Something to me that stands out is Roy's mentioning of "Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion", now if he were there to physically see it, and he does say he "saw", now this is around 550-650 light years away.

The bright red shoulder star of Orion is Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis), a massive red supergiant located roughly 550 to 650 light-years from Earth. Orion actually has two shoulder stars: Betelgeuse marks one side (the eastern/left shoulder depending on the viewpoint), while the star Bellatrix marks the other.

This would mean FTL exist, but that would also mean the travel times of FTL would also accelerate time which would mean, if Roy n co traveled as a round trip minimum 1,100 light years, Earth would no longer be in the year 2019, simply does not work that way. Interstellar has a good explanation of how time dilation works with Gargantua Miller's Planet.

OK this aside, say Roy was just being poetic and dreams all of this, lets say off world colony means local solar system, Titan, moon of Saturn or Europa, moon of Jupiter (which makes mining sense), the time it would take to travel to and from, or if the Replicants are shipped there and that's when their life expatriation starts, how long of their life did they spend traveling back to the dying Earth?

None of this is ever explained, but we never question it, it's just accepted that it exists, that's why other aspects of the movie should be too, it's all fictional, it doesn't work in any real world terms due to well, universal laws.

People should just be happy that something like a Unicorn can exist, in an alternate reality, and that's why I give my existentialism review of BR and why the chicken/egg can co-exist, 2 Roy Batty's out of 5.

Information on FiiO K17

So recently I bought a SMSL RAW-MDA1 along side a pair of HD660S2. I wasn't expecting a massive improvement over my current HD6XX, but when I looked further into equing the 660S2, I was pleasantly surprised by how much better I was able to get them to sound.

So what I am looking at is getting an amp with PEQ that allows me to use the same exacting profiles without having to use a PC, I want to be able to PEQ the inputs of my other gear, so HD6XX have their own profiles for movies which the LG will feed via toslink, then 660S2 from PC via USB with it's own profile.

Am I able to do this all internally with a K17? Can I have the same exacting profiles people set up like I would by using software on the pc such as PEACE?

I don't mind spending more on a good HPA, I do have a G&W Tsinghua T-2.6F and that has raw brute horsepower to drive the Senns,, it sounds very defines in the bass region but seems to taper of in the highs. Has good separation but it wont help me with my mixing so I need to stay SS.

I have done a ton of research, just that some advice would help make a better decision.

Best tubes for G&W Tsinghua T-2.6F Tube 6922 with HD660 2S

For context, I have HD600, HD6XX, Hifiman Edition XX and just bought HD660 S2. I don't use the 600s anymore, they're over 20 years old which is when I bought the amp too.

Someone suggested to roll the tubes and what I found was they lost all bass and seemed the wrong ones, that was a waste of money.

I am only really interested in powering the HD660 S2 and the Hifimans, I have a SMSL RAW-MDA1 but find the HD6XX underwhelming when compared to the SMSL HO100.

As I produce music, I need a flat amp and the HO100 is great, just that the previous DAC was not up to spec, this why the RAW-MDA1 comes into play, the SMSL DO100 PRO would take over a month to get so settled on the MDA1.

It fits into my set up nicely, but I would like to utilize my G&W due to reading that the HD6602S can perform better with tubes.

Should I just get the stock tubes for this amp and be done with it?

Oh I forgot to mention, I did see the newer Audio-Technica ATH-R70xa but feel some of the issues with the earfoams and head bands can be issues for some, also the poor cable it comes with, I did not want to spend more money.

R70xa cost $419 AUD, I got the HD660S2 for $505 AUD. As I have had a great track record with Senheisser, to me it seemed like a better option, specifically when it comes with a long 4.4 cable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh this is the HPA I am talking about for the tubes.

State of film making today

So here are my thoughts on what I think the state of film making is today.

Having just watched disclosure day and previously seen Hail Mary, I have lost all hope that we as creatives, can some how do better than our teachers did before.

We are as a race supposed to better ourselves, now the reason of this in The Thing sub, this is a benchmark movie made at a time where films were experimental when it came to fx, cam tech, sound design etc.

Somehow The Thing seems to lay what I would assume, the foundation for what we would expect to come in future films. I have read back and forth arguments people make about who is The Thing at the end, or where does The Thing come from, or etc etc, the movie is still promoting healthy discussion almost 50 years later.

What concerns me is, because JC never really gave a fuck about what the audience wanted to see, he made a movie that was pretty much alienated when it came to the general public, this brings me to my next point and I will re-touch on the 2 films I mentioned previously.

Does it take a director to sacrifice their credibility, to make a film they think is what would be best translated to screen, meaning the film fails at box office, fails to garnish the rewards that it deserves, only later in life that the film they make, is now an accepted piece of film making that it becomes beyond cult status, it cements itself in the annals of film making.

So it means a real director is willing to compromise their future projects, with one major one, where they go all out and do what they think is best, not for Hollywood, but for the intelligent viewer who will go on to appreciate what is presented in front of them.

Let me address the 2 other films now, spoilers attached.

>!LISTEN, <--- are you fucking serious? This is what we get for an ending in Disclosure day?!<

>!Spielberg has lost his fucking mind to pony up some absolute diatribe like this, but the audience loves it, I can help we have some sort of ground hog day happening, where history is just repeating itself all due to the audience just getting dumber. This isn't an insult, it's an observation.!<

So imagine yourself as a kid 13 ish, going to see The Thing, there is barely anyone in the cinema, but what you experience is like something you can't explain, it's never been done before, never been seen before, and it's never been done again or bettered. Yes movies have been released that are quality, but none have that impact that The Thing did on me as a child, so my expectations went through the roof, due to what now was shown as what I would say, make a "movie this good or I just wont be interested".

2001 did the same, yet for some reason no one has come close to repeating this sort of movie going experience, where the audience is treated like an intelligent being, rather than some sheep being spoon fed till we end up at the slaughter house. It comes with some certainty of distress that yes the 80s ruled when it came to movies being released that we'd never seen before, somehow we see the same 80s stuff being re-released, BR 2049 a sequel that never needed to be made, now anime and some suggest a woke 2099 tv series.

What is it that the more humans evolve, the dumber they become? So reliant on phones and AI, that the core element of evolution is to be a better version of the previous incarnation?

This is how I think film has evolved, a lot of blame goes on Hollywood, they make money on capitalizing on demographics and profitability, when JC was interviewed about how poorly The Thing performed at the box office, he basically said, I don't care, I made a movie I wanted to make.

So it takes 30 to 40 years later for JC's movie now to be recognized as one of the greats, that says more about the era of how people thought than it does the art that was presented.

Maybe I am old, jaded, gtfo my lawn type of guy, but the thing is, I am not, I am like JC, I don't care what people think, and that's not to offend others, I too am what some would call creative, I make music, I make music that I like, not because I think someone else will like it.

Hail Mary needs no spoilers, it was just a boring af shit show of, I still don't know what to make of it, yet everyone loves it, really?

Reminds me of E.T, when that was released and yes I did go to see it, everyone rejected The Thing but loved E.T. That says a lot about society, how we were given a child's view of the world in film form, then an adults view, for some reason the adult's one was rejected.

All these re-boots, re-makes, I mean wtf seriously, how many times does Batman or Superman have to be told?

Is it just a reflection of ourselves that we can't think past what makes us feel comfortable? I just wished people would see past what were given as a movie goers diet, but that would put us in a minority, and in another 40 years we will look back and see how some film today, that some director said "fuck Hollywood, fuck conventions", makes a film that no body liked, loves in 40 years.

TL:DR Fuck Hollywood.

FLYDIGI Vader 5S: my new go to.

I paid for this with my own money, I am not affiliated with any company.

So I have been through 3 Gamesir G7 Pros, 1 is still working, 1 failed within 10 days, 1 in 2 days, which was the most recent one, a white one that has a much better D Pad than the Black one.

I did the O ring mod on the black with 2 rings per hole. Still has a looseness to it that I don't like.

So just last week I purchased a white G7 Pro with the intention of having a better controller than my current, it just isn't as accurate as I would like it to be, so the white is an improvement over the older one, but it lasts 2 days before I encounter some serious issues, I take it back and get a refund.

I post my thoughts in Gamersir sub, I get gaslit. I mean when people try to blame you for a QC issue, that's just a sad part of reddit.

My search begins with a new brand, I have purchased 5 controllers from Gamesir, that's the last time, 2 of 5 failed, 40% failure rate is not acceptable, especially when the controllers are taken well care of.

I need a specific Xbox controller, don't care for wireless, TMR would be great. I find this newer Vader 5S with tension controls, this is what I need and I know they're not TMR. So Amazon Prime have sales on Gamesir products, extremely cheap, I am not going to take that 3rd gamble so ordered the Vader on Wed, it came in today and playing in 8C, I mean I cannot feel my feet or hands, this controller is something to behold.

Software, people complain about this, yet the Gamesir software is an absolute joke, you cannot see where or what option you are on with this software, you have to guess, I reported this to the GS sub and they've ignored me.

Vader software, whilst it is very basic looking, it just works, and it works extremely well. It's clearly laid out, everything is understandable, this is all that is needed, I don't need eye candy, I just want something that works.

I play BF6 a lot, and I love taking out helis with Bradleys, prob is they nerfed the guidance control, you have to have a really accurate controller to be able to guide to your targets. Tanks, well forget them, too many pilots crying that tanks are OP, thing is, an AA can't take out a heli or jet due to the advantages they have, so Bradley combat it is, and with a Vader, I have found my newest weapon to be able to send hords of helis to their doom.

The tension controls are a blessing in disguise, when I was using the G7 Pro, I found that if I was triggering hard, this would l have a rebound effect, meaning my reticle would bounce in the smallest ways, this is obviously due to the sensitivity that I have set, but with the tension control, I now have a dampener, which stops this bounce.

People mention in reviews that the tension could be more, I agree, but it's better than not having control of it at all.

I have my right stick set at full, which is aim, left at maybe 20%. This aside.

D pad, feels amazing, it just works, yesterday on the G7 Pro, phantom inputs, I am going right, I get up, I want an RPG, I get a repair tool, I mean in the heat of battle when I need something quickly and there in hand I have a repair tool, am I going to throw this at a tank? I doesn't just happen once and the G7 Pro has been constantly calibrated.

Moving my thumb around the D pad, feeling for loose spots, I feel pretty much none, it does what it does and it does it great.

Now when it comes to comfort, someone at the company must know ergonomics really well because what I get is something as a result that makes me want to throw the G7 in the bin.

It sits in the hand great but has no rubber, which means no nasty left overs, or worn grips. The back pads are in a place that only the tips of my fingers touch, when using the G7, I would hit the back pads by accident, meaning I had now changed weapon in the heat of battle, doesn't happen with the Vader.

All these little things, make for such a better gaming experience, I don't know how I let Flydigi go under the radar, I have a bunch of different controllers, Razor, others w/e, somehow this cheaper controller just does what I want it to do.

Pros: does everything I want and need.

Cons: doesn't have TMR but with tension controls, you wont notice it.

I will update this when I thaw out a little, we are mid Winter here, cold af, warms up in afternoon, should be a better test for how the controller performs.

Fwiw, I never game online with wireless, so all my controllers have always been wired.
