Tattoo by Bobby at Ventura tattoo! My birthday tattoo I love it!

Sorry I labeled this as discussion because I didnt see an option for lettering. But I like to get a tattoo every year for my birthday and this was this years! I am so happy about it and had nowhere to share :3

Edit: I'm not sure why I am getting downvoted so badly? I really love game of thrones, and this is a fun tattoo that is going to be hidden 99% of the time?

Edit 2: Alright guys stop sending me death threats and weird stuff over this? If you want to downvote thats totally fine, that's why reddit has the button. I liked this quote from the red wedding, and I thought it was fun. You guys don't have to take it so seriously- its a fictional world and its my skin?

How long does it take for leg hair to completely grow back after tattoo?

It's been a little over a month since I got a tattoo on my upper shin. The shaved area is definitely growing some hair back, but it's nowhere near as much as the surrounding areas. I feel like it looks stupid, especially because some of the shaved area is not where the tattoo is (moved the stencil). Will it look normal soon or should I just shave everything so it comes back even? Would it look more even if I just made everything shorter with a beard trimmer or something?

Messaging 2 artists at the same shop

Pls delete if not allowed but looking for some quick advice:

I messaged an artist, who has tattoo'd me before, about an idea I had. No response. Messaged about a month later about a different idea, got a response and replied, but crickets since then. This person is the shop manager as well. Is it tacky/rude to message another artist at this shop?

Men, do you keep your arm shaved when you have a sleeve?

Just curious on what everyone thought process is with this. I personally keep my arm shaved because I think it looks much cleaner.

Looking for advice on how to approach this situation with communication with an artist

Ok so I started getting a tattoo of a two headed snake on my thigh it’s relatively large and I kinda hate the way it’s looking

Yes I know it needs highlights and finished but I’m not a fan of realism and I’m not sure if this can be made less realistic

Disclaimer: I’m not looking for a discussion on the design drawing suggestions pricing or anything I’m strictly wondering if I should have been shown the design before he started shading and how to discuss the fact I don’t like the tattoo and how to approach that conversation or if I should just Irish goodbye also!! my tattoo artist and I hang out and are friends but I’m newer to the area so I don’t really wanna upset him or piss him off he’s openly talked about being extremely confident and I’ve seen him get annoyed easily which gives me anxiety telling him I don’t like it because I’ve only known him for a month but I have like no friends in the area so I also don’t wanna loose a friend that I actually enjoy hanging out with outside of this tattoo

I went in for line work he showed me the design it was realistic but also kinda mixed with neo traditional?? So it didn’t give that realism vibe
We did the line work I went back a month later (about 1 week ago) and he worked on the heads when he started working on the heads no design was shown or anything he just asked “black and grey right?” And I said “yes” and he started going at it

Originally when asked about the style the artist said “are you thinking realism” and I said “I don’t really like realism I don’t enjoy the way it ages I was going to leave the style more up to you but I would prefer not alot of realism” (keep in mind this artist doesn’t specialize in realism so I didn’t think I needed to be concerned or mention more than that)

I’ve been sitting here for a little over a week debating on if I should find a different artist and Irish goodbye or if I should talk to him about it if I talk to him about it I really dont know how to bring it up and I feel like it would be a greatly awkward durring the tattoo I’ll any advice I can get

Question: Tattoo artist work is very similar to a tattoo/artwork found on Pinterest, appointment tomorrow. How should I ask her to change it?

Hi, I have an appointment tomorrow and the artist sent me the custom piece we had discussed awhile back for me to approve today.

I had sent a bunch of references images, including some other tattoos from other artists I found on Pinterest and insta (for inspo and vibes, I specified I didn’t want those exact copies). I really like this artist’s style.

However when I got the final artwork today (it’s of a cat along with some things however the cat is a main focal point of the piece) i realised the pose the cat was in was almost a one for one of a work found on Pinterest. Like down to the lines where its legs are bent. The coat pattern is different, but I’m pretty certain figure itself is the same.

I wanted an artwork from this artist not her take on someone else’s artwork. Can I just straight up bring up the copied/inspired art work and ask her to change it or would that be rude?

Any tips on how I can ask her to change it without coming off as rude or insulting?

I know it’s short notice, I’d asked to see the work earlier but she said she’ll send it 1-2 days before my appointment so here I am

Knee ditch took me out

I’m two sessions into a large piece on my leg. The first was just line work, and while the knee ditch was not fun, it was bearable.

Had my second session four weeks later to do the shading (that was yesterday). We got through most of it (about four hours) but I had to tap out after about 15 mins in the knee ditch. It was BRUTAL.

Any tips for going into the final session? I suspect we’ve got about two hours of work left to do on it.

Finger Tattoo Advice (Tattoo done by Kati at Apocalypse Girl Tattoo)

Hi! I have a silly tattoo question!

I recently got a couple of finger tattoos (i.e. 7 days ago). I know finger tattoos (or any on the hands, feet, etc) can fade wicked fast because of how often those places experience wear/friction/etc, but this seems... extra fast?

I've been following the care instructions, although I can admit that I haven't been HYPER vigilant about it, just like... regular level vigilant. Moisturizing multiple times a day, avoiding products with fragrance, etc.

The confusion comes in for me because I have a previous finger tattoo that's seven years old (no touch ups) and it's still less faded than the one I got last week. The newer one is in red as opposed to black, so I'm sure that would affect it somewhat, but my friend also has a finger tattoo in roughly the same shade of red (also about 7 years old with no touch ups) and it's still darker than this one.

My question is essentially... did I fuck this up somehow? Like was this user error? Or was it just not done as well as it could've been?

I hate assuming the artist would be at fault, but I did learn she's a much newer artist (practicing for around a year) and I'm worried that the ink might have just not been packed in enough. My roommate has mentioned that it looks slightly patchy (I don't have any naturally dry skin or flaking on my fingers) which to her implies it just wasn't enough ink, but neither of us are tattoo artists.

I was told I can't really do any retouches for at least another few weeks, which makes sense but I'm also a bit at a loss about what to do in the meantime because it looks a little silly.

Basically I was just hoping for some advice, and if it WAS my fault, I'd like to get it touched up and then hopefully take steps to avoid this happening again. Any and all advice or suggestions would be appreciated!!

(Red Queen tattoo is the new one - Black King tattoo is the 7-year one)
